washeldfrom1January2021to7January2021.Dr.S.N.Desaiheadthis
camp and was assisted by trained nurses.
ThestudentsweretaughtthebasicsofFirstAidandhowtodealwith
emergenciessuchascasesofbeestings,dogbites,burns,accidentsand
soon.Theywerealsoprovidedwithpracticaltraininginwashing,
cleaningandbandagingofwounds.Chartsandaudiovisualaidswere
usedtoenlightentheparticipants.Thecampendedwithavaledictory
functioninwhichtheparticipantsreceivedcertificatesandfirstaidkits
from the health minister.

8. ‘Know Goa’ Quiz at Vasco
VidyaMandirHigherSecondarySchool,VascoGoahadorganisedaninter
HigherSecondaryQuizcompetitionon“TheHistoryofGoa”whichwas
entitled‘KnowGoa’on19December2020tocommemorateGoa’s
Liberation Day.
EighteenteamsfromalloverGoaparticipatedinthecompetitionwhich
startedwithwrittentest,thebestfourteamswereselectedforthefinals.
Thefinalscomprisedoffourrounds.Thefinalroundwasthebuzzerround.
ThequestionsaskedwereuprootedfromGoa’sgreathistory.Shree
DamodarHigherSecondarySchoolofScience,Margao,emergedawinners,
whowereawardedwithacashprizeandrollingtrophy.Mr.Raymond
Furtado mastered this mind boggling quiz.

72RepublicDayofIndiawascelebratedatShreeDamodarHigherSecondary
SchoolofScience,Comba,Margao–Goaintheschoolpremises.TheChiefGuest
on the occasion was the best student of the school Miss Lenina Pereria.
Thefunctionstartedwiththeunfurlingofthenationalflagatthehandsofthe
ChiefGuest,followedbythesingingofnationalanthemandnationalsong
‘VandeMatram’.TeacherMariaRebelloreadthePreambleoftheIndian
Constitutionattheonsetofthefunction.Ontheoccasion,ashortcultural
programmewasorganisedbythestudents.TheChiefGuestthroughherspeech
appealedtoallforunityinsolvingIndia’sproblemsandalsospokeaboutthe
significanceoftheRepublicDayofIndia.Thefunctionendedwiththevoteof
thanksproposedbymissSanikaPorobo.Thecompereforthefunctionwere
mast Vastav Rivonkar and miss Yuga Sambary.

byatruckatabout9.00p.m.onThursday,atVernaonNH-66.The
traffic was held up for about two hours due to the accident.
TheinjuredarebeingtreatedattheHospiciohospital,Margao.
Accordingtotheinformationavailable,allthosetravellinginthe
jeepwereresidentsofKarwarandtheyweresaidtobereturning
afterattendingamarriageceremonyinVasco.Vernapolicehave
arrested the truck driver on charges of drunken driving.

March2021,inPonda,tomakethelocalsawareabouttheneedforwater
conservationaswellasthebenefitsofit.Manyschoolstudentsattendedthe
programme.Waterforeveryoneduringsummermonthswasguaranteedby
rain water harvesting in lakes, ponds and low level reservoirs.
Laterthepeoplewereheardshoutingsloganstoconservewater.Theywere
evenseenwithbannersbearingsloganslike‘WaterisLife’,‘HarvestRain
Water’etc.Theentirecampaignwascoveredbypressandmedia.Thepeople
evenconductedarallythroughthemarketplace.Thecampaignwasagood
public conscious drive.
