OBJECTIVES OF INVESTIGATION 1. To study the physical, physicochemical properties of soils in study area 2. To estimate soil fertility status with respect macronutrients (N, P 2 O 5 , K 2 O, Ca, Mg, and S) and micronutrients (Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn) of study area 3. To generate soil fertility maps in study area 3
TECHNICAL PROGRAMME OF WORK 4 LOCATION OF WORK : Modukuru village of Tsundur mandal, Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. In Modukuru village of Guntur district, around 200 surface soil samples (0-15 cm depth) will be collected using GPS technology. The collection process will cover Grid sampling technique. Subsequently, these samples will undergo comprehensive analysis to assess their physical, physico -chemical and chemical properties. Based on the nutrient status derived from the analysis, GIS technology will be utilized to generate soil fertility maps.
DATA TO BE COLLECTED 5 I) Preparation of base maps: Topographic maps, shape files of the study area will be collected to prepare base map of Modukuru village for survey. II) Analysis of soil samples for various parameters: a) Physical properties Soil color, Soil texture, Water holding capacity and Aggregate stability. b) Physico -chemical properties pH, Electrical conductivity and Organic carbon. c) Chemical properties Available N, P 2 O 5 , K 2 O, Ca, Mg, S and micronutrients viz ., Cu, Zn, Fe and Mn. III) Generation of thematic maps Generation of nutrient status-based soil fertility maps using Geo spatial techniques.
WORK DONE Shape file of Modukuru village is generated by using Q- GIS Software. After the generation shape file Grid sampling tool is used to generate Grid map with interval of 300 m in Modukuru Village. A preliminary survey is conducted, whether the generated grid points in the Selected area was matched with Grid point map. During this survey, I found that majority of the Selected area having Black soils and the crops grown in that area were Paddy, Black gram, Green gram, Maize and Sorghum. 6
