2. VERBS: PRESENT SIMPLE 1 . When we talk about permanent situations 2 . When we talk about a periodic routine 3. When we talk about habits repited within a time frame 4. When giving indications , instructions and signs . EX:  I drink coffee every morning . Tomorrow is my birthday The earth is the third planet from the sun.

3. VERBS: PAST SIMPLE It is a verbal tense that expresses situations or actions that occurred in the past, and although they may be from the recent past or the distant past; It should only be understood that these have already ended. EX: A year ago I was in Paris  I was in Paris a year ag  Hace un año estuve en París In 1989 The Berlin Wall fell The Berlin Wall fell in 1989  El muro de Berlín cayó en 1989 When we were kids we played barefoot We played barefoot when we were kids Cuando éramos niños jugábamos descalzos

4. Regular VERBS: PAST SIMPLE Verbo en forma básica Pasado Ejemplo Arrive Arrived I arrived five minutes ago= Llegué hace 5 minutos Change Changed She changed her mind = Ella cambió de parecer Love Loved He loved his wife = Él amaba a su espos 1. -d  es la terminación de los verbos que finalizan en e. 

5. Regular VERBS : PAST SIMPLE 2. - ed  es la terminación de los verbos que finalizan en consonante o en y. Recuerda que cuando el verbo termina en consonante+y , debes reemplazar la y por la i y luego agregar la terminación -ed.  Verbo en forma básica Pasado Ejemplo Walk Walked They walked around the whole city= Ellos caminaron por toda la ciudad Kiss Kissed I kissed a frog when I was 13= Besé una rana cuando tenía 13 años Enjoy Enjoyed He enjoyed the whole trip = Él disfrutó de todo el viaje

11. Comparative and superlatives We use than when we want to compare one thing with another: Ex: She is two years older than me. New York is much bigger than Boston. We use the with superlative adjectives: EX: It was the happiest day of my life. Everest is the highest mountain in the world. That’s the best film I have seen this year. I have three sisters: Jan is the oldest and Angela is the youngest.

We usually add  – er  and  – est  to  one-syllable words  to make comparatives and superlatives : If an adjective  ends in  –e , we add  –r  or  – st : If an adjective  ends in a vowel and a consonant , we double the consonant: old older oldest long longer longest nice nicer nicest large larger largest big bigger biggest fat fatter fattest Comparative and superlatives

13. If an adjective  ends in a consonant and  –y ,  we change  –y  to  – i   and add  – er  or  – est : We use  more  and  most  to make comparatives and superlatives for most two syllable adjectives and for all adjectives with three or more syllables: Comparative and superlatives happy happier happiest silly sillier silliest careful more careful  most careful interesting more interesting  most interesting
