introduction Our project named “Robotic Floor Cleaner” is an autonomous robotic vaccum cleaner which has limited vaccum floor cleaning system combined with sensors and robotic drives with programmable controller and cleaning routes. Our project eliminates the need of traditional cleaning. This vaccum cleaner consists of materials which has great suction power (BLDC Motor).

Robotic floor cleaner has sensors, which takes physical input from surrounding and generates output resulting into changes position of it i.e , it detects the obstacle, and changes its path. Another thing that it has a suction hole which sucks the dust or small pieces of paper and stores the dust, in dust can which is present on top of it. Floor cleaning is difficult for elderly people who live by themselves and do not have the strength or ability to clean. Cleaners are hired to do the task in most cases rather than the household residents do it. But this adds upon to the expenses. This project presents the design, development and fabrication of an automatic floor cleaner, which avoids the obstacles in its path and also detects the edges. It is automatic in the sense that once it is switched on , no human intervention is required.

Problem definition Currently everyone is obsessed of cleaning rooms manually. It takes a lot of time and effort. The question is why should we still spend so much time and effort on traditional cleaning the whole house in this period of automation? To solve this problem we have created a robotic vaccum cleaner that works automatically! We just need to start the machine and set vaccum level according to your need or you can use our application. It not only saves our time and effort but also cleans our home.

Software requirements Arduino uno IDE Embedded C language

Methodology The developed robot is disk- shaped, equipped with vacuuming and cleaning technology and controlled by Arduino mega micro- controller. It sucks dirt via a retractable dustbin on top of which a cooling fan is mounted, and two sweepers each driven by a 12 V DC motor. The robot navigates via two motor shield controlled rear wheels and a front caster wheel which also governs its turning. Three ultrasonic sensors, placed at 90 apart, detect obstacles and subsequently help the robot navigate.

Methodology The robot is powered by 3S2P batteries (12 V DC), rechargeable via an embedded AC-DC adapter. It is 12 cm wide and 9 cm tall making it easy for maneuvering its environment. Because of the light weight battery, carbon fiber based dustbin and small blower used, its weight is about 1.5 kg. The total current consumed is 1950 mA. When fully charged, a 44 00 mAh-capacity battery works continuously for two hours and cleans floor efficiently. With this capability, the device will be deployed for office and home use there by making cleaning a fully autonomous duty.
