Role of an Individual in Natural Resource Conservation.

Breifly explains about various techniques in conserving the natural resources.

2. Introduction Natural resources play a vital role in development of nation, these resources are to be conserved to flourish the mankind. While the conservation efforts are underway at national as well as international level but, environment belongs to everyone of us and each of one of us have the responsibility to conserve the resources. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 2

3. Natural Resource Conservation There are many methods of conserving the natural resources, we will discuss some key points depending on the type of resource. Conserve Water. Conserve Energy. Protect the Soil. P romote Sustainable Agriculture. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 3

4. Conserve Water Don’t keep the taps running while taking bath. Fill the required amount of water in washing machines and reuse the soapy water for cleaning purposes. Water the plants in the evening as the evaporation rate is less. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 4

5. Conserve Water Use drip and sprinkle irrigation to improve irrigation efficiency. Build rain water harvesting pits in your home. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 5

6. Conserve Energy Turn off the lights, fans and other appliances when not in use. Build houses with good provision of sun, and also grow deciduous trees to cut off heat during intense summers. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 6

7. Conserve Energy Make fewer trips, use public transport whenever possible. Lower the cooling load on AC’s to reduce the usage of the current. Use LED lamps in place of some fluorescent lamps. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 7

8. Protect The Soil While constructing houses don’t uproot trees. Grow different ornamental plants in your garden. Prepare compost from kitchen waste and use them in your garden. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 8

9. Protect The Soil Do not irrigate fields with a strong flow of water without a proper drainage system, this can be resulting in water logging and salinization. Used mixed cropping so that some specific nutrients do not deplete in the soil. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 9

10. Promote Sustainable Agriculture Do not waste food, eat how much you can. Reduce the use of pesticides and use organic fertilizers. Eat seasonal and local vegetables. Control pests by using biological methods. 26-01-2019 Environmental Studies 10
