Is Global Climate Changing? Climate has gone through warmer and cooler periods, each lasting thousands of years in past.
Change is normal for earth. The problem is that humans have not been here long and we are just beginning to understand that our existence depends on a static environment that is not real. So the problem with climate change is… We are making the change happen faster than it has ever happened before http:// www.livescience.com/16388-climate-change-debate-man-nature.html https://www.epa.gov/climate-change-science/causes-climate-change
Why Should we worry about changing climate?? Because a healthy environment is essential to human survival.
Human Activities 1. Deforestation The second largest source of carbon dioxide(6 to 17 % CO2 ) releases billion tons of carbon into the atmosphere every year Another 200 billion tons of carbon into the atmosphere in coming decades if deforestation does not stop 2. Industrialization Release of smoke loaded with carbon dioxide, nitrogen compounds, sulfur dioxide, and other pollutants blocking sunshine and creating dangerous smog . Extensive Mining
3. Agriculture Chemical fertilizers, pesticides emits methane and Nitrous oxide generation. Fuel used for agricultural equipments release CO2 Domesticated animals emit methane.
4. Waste generation Changing life style Huge quantity of municipal, biomedical, industrial and agriculture waste. Open burning, dumping yards, burning of rubber and plastics has increases more problem.
5. Use of coal and burning gasoline The largest known contribution comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere.
6. Nuclear war destroy global climate Even a regional nuclear war would create a Nuclear Haze which would quickly lead to deadly global climate change lasting for more than decade. For example, nuclear war fought between India and Pakistan would produce enough smoke to make the blue skies of Earth appear grey. There are around 30,000 nuclear warheads worldwide, 95% of which are held by the US and Russia.
Green House Gases
Average temperature has risen a little more than one degree Fahrenheit during the past 100 years or so.
Small changes in Earth's average temperature can lead to big impacts.
Costly and Growing health impacts Rising temperature will lead Increase air pollution Longer and intense allergy season Spread of insect borne disease Frequent and dangerous heat waves Heavier rainstorms flooding
Humans are clearly responsible for most of the climate change over the last 150 years based on over a century of scientific investigation.
And no nation, however large or small, wealthy or poor, can escape the impact of climate change
