Role of Central and State level Govts:- Basic responsibility for rescue, relief and rehabilitation with the State Governments. The Central Government supplements the efforts of State Governments. By providing financial and logistic support in case o major disasters. The logistic support Includes deployment of aircrafts and boats, specialist teams of Armed Forces, Central Para Military Forces and personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), arrangements for relief materials & essential commodities including medical stores.
Role of the state government during a disaster:- In the state level disaster management it is the responsibility of the chief minister or the chief secretary of the state. All decisions on relief operations are taken by them Work is further delegated to the Relief commissioner who is in charge of relief and rehabilitation measures. He functions under the directive of the state level committee.
Disaster management at the district level:- Government plans for disaster management are implemented by the district administration. The actual ground work for relief is the responsibility of the district magistrate, the district collector and the deputy commissioner; they coordinate and supervise the relief work. Officers from the health; irrigation; veterinary; police; fire services and the water and sanitation departments are members of this committee.
Role of local administrations in a disaster:- Your local government has first-hand knowledge of your community's social, economic, infrastructure, and environmental needs, helping them to provide support in a disaster. Their role is to:- Develop, review and assess effective disaster management practices Identify and coordinate disaster resources.

Role of Police in Disaster Response :- Police department is usually responsible for maintenance of law and order, but increasing frequency of disaster has added additional duty for police. Strong police presence in both cases-whether they are caused by man-made disasters or natural disasters-can assist allay concerns and stop people from taking advantage of the situation.
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF):- Central Armed Police Forces were formerly referred to as Paramilitary Forces. From March 2011, the Ministry of Home Affairs adopted a uniform nomenclature of Central Armed Police Forces to avoid confusion. Border Security Force (BSF) – The BSF is the border guards of the country and is called the 'India's First Line of Defense. It was established on 1st December 1965. It ensures the security of the borders of India and headed by an officer from the Indian Police Service.
