DIRECTION: All you have to do is to find the five related words to our topic from the crossword puzzle. Write it down in the provided paper. Afterwards, exchange your paper with the other group for we are going to check your work right after.

DIRECTION: A certain topic will be assigned to your group. You are also provided with a fact sheet. And all you have to do is to read the information and try to understand the text. Afterwards, you will share your ideas to your groupmates. When you already understood your assigned topic, you need to choose one member to exchange with other group so that s/he can explain your topic to their members and vice versa. You only have 5 minutes per discussion.

Status Ascribed Status - refers to a social position that a person holds in social system. Achieved Status - receives at birth system or have little or no choice at all. - A social position a person takes on voluntarily that reflects personal identity and effort.

Role Role Strain - refers to the behavior expected of someone who holds a particular status. - conflict among the roles connected to two or more statuses.

Ascribed status can influence Achieved status ex. A lawyer is likely to share the ascribed benefit of being born into relatively well-off families. Do you think your current situation or status can affect what you want to be? And why?

The Concept of Role in Interactionist Social Theory A role, in this concept, is not fixed or prescribed or ascribed, but something that is constantly negotiated between individuals in a tentative, creative way. Do you think the function of your role can affect other members of the society?

DIRECTION: You are going to demonstrate the types of status (such as Ascribed and Achieved) and its roles through different activities: Role playing, Photo collage, Poem-making and Song Composition. The task of your group depends on what is inside the doors around you. Specific instructions for every activity are also inside the doors. You are only given 2 minutes for preparation and 2 minutes every group for presentation.

Team Isabella Role playing: You are going to present the roles of a Doctor (Achieved status). The functions and its contribution in the society must be emphasized. Criteria: Content – 20 points Creativity – 15 points Presentation/Delivery – 10 points Participation – 5 points Total: 50points

Direction: Give 2 examples in each type of status namely ascribed and achieved. Afterwards, give the expected roles for that status. Answer sheets are provided. You are only given 3 minutes to finish that task.
