AutomatedExchangeisaseriesofmaskstobeginandcompleteanexchange,withtheoptiontoretain
thedetailinprogressateachstep.Thisallowsyoutoworkwithcomplexitinerariesanddetermineand
retaintheexchangeinformationforissuanceatanotherlocationwithoutduplicationofeffortbetween
stations.
Example:
AreservationsalesagentcandetermineandretaintheexchangeamountusingAutoExchange.Whenthe
passengerchecksinattheairport,theairportagentcanissuethedocumentimmediatelywithouthaving
togothroughthewholeprocessofcalculatingthenewfareandissuingtheexchangedocument.The
ACSprogramwillprompttheticketagentforcompletionoftheAutoExchangeattimeofcheck-inif
notpreviouslyticketed.
1.3.1BenefitsofAutomatedExchange
lThereissueofanelectronicticketcanbedonebytheReservationsTicketingDeskwithnoneedfor
thepassengertotakeatickettoanairportoracityticketofficeforreissue.
lThecollectionofachangefee,andothermiscellaneousfees,and/ortheprocessingofapartialrefund
canbecompletedwithonetransaction.TheticketandtheMiscellaneousSalesReceiptareboth
issued.

lWhenapartialrefundisdue,theSabresystemwillgeneratetheautomatedcashorcreditcardrefund
documentsatthesametimetheticketisissued.Thiseliminatestheneedtoperformaseparate
transactionusingtheRefundMask(RFND).
lAVCRwillprovidealloftheexchangeticketinformationandincludesthefunctiontoclaiman
interlineelectronicflightcouponfromthecontrollingcarrier.

lIfaticketprinterisnotassigned,exchangeticketingwillnotbeofferedasanoptionattheendofthe
process.Inthiscase,theonlyoptionsofferedwillpermitstoringoftheexchangedataforanother
agenttoprocess.

1.4AutomatedRefunds
TheAutomatedRefundfeatureusestheAutomateExchangemasksandaddsanadditionalfeaturetothe
producttoprocessrefunds.AddingthisfeaturetotheAutomatedExchangeproducteasesthetransition
andtrainingofthefeatureasagentswhoarealreadyusingtheexchangefeaturearealreadyfamiliarwith
thescreens.
1.4.1BenefitsofAutomatedRefunds
lTheAutomatedRefundscapabilitysignificantlyreducesagententerandsupportstherecalloftaxes
fromgovernments(whenappropriate)toexpeditetheentirerefundprocess.
lAllowstherecalloftaxeswheneveravoucherisissuedinlieuofarefund.
lProvidestheabilityto“retain”refunddataforlaterprocessing.
lProvidesautomatictaxrecalculationforflownsegments,includingticketsinvolvingmultiple
