About This Presentation

Branches/roots from L4-L5-S1 join and become superior gluteal nerve giving motor supply to abductor muscle of gluteus medius and gluteus minimus
Branches/roots from L5-S1-S2 join and form inferior gluteal nerve giving motor supply to gluteus maximus, this muscle has 2 function for extension and exte...

SACRAL PLEXUS
AdityaJohan Romadhon

Introduction
The most clinically important branches arising from the plexus are the sciatic, tibial, and peroneal
nerves
The sacral plexus provides motor and sensory nerves for the posterior thigh, most of the lower
leg, the entire foot, as well as part of the pelvis
Some authors do not differentiate between the lumbar and the sacral plexus and describe them
together
Sacral plexus is formed by the lumbosacral trunk (part of the fourth and all the fifth lumbar
ventral ramus), the first to third sacral ventral rami and part of the fourth sacral ventral ramus

Nerve to piriformis & Pudendal
Nerve to piriformis, branches from S1-S2
perform nerve to piriformis (posterior
division), innervate piriformis muscle to
move external rotation of hip joint
Pudendal nerve, branches from S2-S3-S4
become pudendal nerve, it has cutaneous
branch to anus, scrotum (male), penis
(male), perineum, clitoris (female), labia
majora (female), mons pubis and giving
motor supply to external anal spinchter
and external urethral spinchter
