Drilling Work Run drill at correct RPM for diameter of drill bit and material. Ask shop personnel for the correct RPM. Always hold work in a vise or clamp to the drill table. Use a correctly ground drill bit for the material being drilled. Shop personnel can help select the correct bit. Use the proper cutting fluid for the material being drilled. Ask the shop staff about the appropriate fluid for the material you are machining. Remove chips with a brush, never by hand. Ease up on drilling pressure as the drill starts to break through the bottom of the material. Don't use a dull or cracked drill. Inspect the drill before using. Don't drill with too much pressure. Always try to support part on parallels or a backing board when drilling thru material. Never place taper shank tools such as large diameter drills or tapered shank reamers in a drill chuck. Only straight shank tools such as standard drills can be clamped in chucks. Always clean drill shank and/or drill sleeve, and, spindle hole before mounting. Remove taper shank tools from spindle or sleeve with a drill drift and hammer. Never try to loosen the drill chuck while the power is on. Never clean a machine while it is in motion!! If the drill binds in a hole, stop the machine and turn the spindle backwards by hand to release the bit. When drilling a deep hole withdraw the drill bit frequently to clear chips and lubricate the bit. Always remove the drill chuck key, or, the drill drift from the spindle immediately after using it. Wear safety eye protection while drilling. Let the spindle stop of its own accord after turning the power off. Never try to stop the spindle with your hand. Never exceed this speed. Do not use grinders near flammable materials. Do not clamp portable grinders in a vise for grinding hand-held work. Do not use any liquid coolants with portable grinders. Do not force wheels onto a grinder that is the wrong size or change mounting hole sizes. Do not tighten the mounting nut excessively. Do not put the grinder on the floor or working surface until the wheel has stopped turning. Do not use a wheel with a maximum RPM that is lower than the RPM rating of the grinder. Electric Overhead Traveling (E OT ) Crane Safety
Do not overload the crane or hoist. Make sure the load does not exceed the rated load capacity of the crane or hoist. Take instructions only from the person designated to give signals Electric Overhead Traveling (E OT ) Crane Safety General Instructions To pick up a load, move the crane and hoist/hook directly above the load to eliminate the possibility of side loading and minimize load swing. While operating crane Safety Helmet is must. Before lifting, ensure that everyone is clear of any pinch or crush zones. When starting to lift the load, only lift it a few inches off the ground to verify hoist brake is functioning properly before continuing with the lift. Make sure the rigging is in good condition and that safe rigging practices are applied. Ensure rigging is appropriate for the load size, shape and weight. Always maintain a clear view of the crane path so you can observe any obstacles or personnel in your path. Use one continuous motion when traveling. Try not to start/stop (plug) as this will result in load swing. Use right web sling belt for right weight Alwayes use tag line for swing control Do not stand below the load
