Sapphire Group traces its history to the yarn spinning business being carried out in Calcutta. After the independence of Pakistan (1947), Sapphire Group moved to East Pakistan and then after 1970 the group relocated to west Pakistan. Since then, Sapphire has been expanding its exports and extending up the value chain Sapphire began commercial production with first “Small Power Producer” plant in 1995. Sapphire successfully erected 234MW combined-cycle power plant in 2010 which is now assisting WAPDA. In 2013, 50 MW Wind Power Project started commercial production is nearing its start located in Jambhir , Sindh on 1373 acres while another 150 MW is near completion. In 2007, Sapphire Group took the initiative of diversifying into “foods”. Its dairy farm was started in 2007. Sapphire Dairies SAPPHIRE DAIRIES is a Private Limited company that owns and operates a large mechanized dairy farm . The farm is located near Manga (Lahore) on an area of 100 acres with a herd size of 2850 pursuing a target of 10,000 milking cows (300,000 liters per day) by the year 2020. We plan to expand its production and eventually move into value added products as well The breed consists of a blend of Jersey, cross (Jersey & Holsteins) and Holsteins heifers from Australia reared using most modern and state of the art facilities supervised by professional and experienced management . Egyptian farm managers and veterinary teams are working with several years of experience of managing dairy farms ensuring availability of best vaccinations, high quality silage and optimal disease control.
