Introduction:

History: first description of an agitated, stainless steel animal cell culture bioreactor was one of 30 L for the production of inactivated foot and mouth disease vaccine (Telling and Elsworth 1965). However, recently, it has been reported that commercial bioreactors of 20,000 L at Lonza ( Hoeks et al. 2004) and Genentech (Meier 2005).
