The power of volcanoes Mercury takes a little more than 58 days to complete its rotation, so try to imagine how long days must be there! Since the temperatures are so extreme, albeit not as extreme as in Venus, Mercury has been deemed to be non-habitable for humans Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest one in the entire Solar System. Contrary to popular belief, this planet's name has nothing to do with the liquid metal. Mercury was, instead, named after the famous Roman messenger god
Creating a volcano model Do you know what helps you make your point crystal clear? Lists like this one: They’re simple You can organize your ideas clearly You’ll never forget to buy milk! And the most important thing: the audience won’t miss the point of your presentation
Get ready to blow: a fun volcano Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun. It’s hot and has a poisonous atmosphere Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest one in the Solar System—it’s only a bit larger than the Moon Fun and sticky Be a scientist
Activity 01: Name your volcano Complete the table below to turn your miniature volcano into a geological find Name Type Date Description The Red Mountain Stratovolcano 10-05-2022 The Red Mountain Volcano is a type of volcano called a stratovolcano. That means it's a tall, conical-shaped volcano that's made up of layers of lava, ash, and other materials. When it erupts, it can shoot out lava, ash, and rocks that can sometimes reach the size of a car!
What we learn about? Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest of them all Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun Despite being red, Mars is actually a cold place. It’s full of iron oxide dust Geology Chemical Safety

Activity 03: A Hands-On Large container Baking soda Vinegar Sand or dirt Small plastic cups Food coloring Small rocks First, fill the large container with warm water and add a layer of sand or dirt to the bottom Mix baking soda and a few drops of food coloring Using the plastic dropper, add vinegar to the baking soda mixture in each cup It will create lava flows on the surface. Use the small rocks or pebbles to create different formations Materials Instructions Understand the process of how volcanic formations occur through a hands-on activity
A picture is worth a thousand words
A picture always reinforces the concept Images reveal large amounts of data, so remember: use an image instead of a long text. Your audience will appreciate it
98,300,000 Big numbers catch your audience’s attention
Jupiter's rotation period 9 h 55m 23s 333,000 The Sun’s mass compared to Earth’s 386,000 km Distance between Earth and the Moon
Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and the smallest of them all Failed Venus has a beautiful name and is the second planet from the Sun Nailed Despite being red, Mars is actually a cold place. It’s full of iron oxide dust Awesome Experiment success rate 20 % 6 5% 1 5%
Activity 04: True or false Mixing vinegar and baking soda together can simulate a volcanic eruption True The reaction between vinegar and baking soda produces bubbles of gas The gas produced in the reaction is primarily carbon dioxide Increasing the amount of vinegar used will result in a more violent eruption Using cold vinegar will not affect the experiment Write true or false to the following sentences as appropriate
