Scope of Educational Psychology Teacher Learner Learning Experiences Learning Processes Learning Situation & Environment The subject matter of educational psychology, if it is all necessary to draw its boundaries, revolves round these points mentioned above. SCOPE

1. LEARNER The total subject matter of educational psychology primarily revolves around this factor-learner. This subject acquaints us with the need of knowing the learner and deals with the learner and deals with the techniques of knowing him well.

According to Lindgrin ,the educative process includes the following areas of education of the learner. LEARNER

LEARNING EXPERIENCES This is the second area of educational psychology and though the subject does not directly connect itself with the problem of what to teach or what learning processes to provide the learner, it has the responsibility of suggesting the techniques on acquiring the learning experiences. Educational psychology helps in deciding the kinds of learning experiences desirable at different stages of growth and development of the learner so that these experiences can be acquired with a greater ease & satisfaction . In this area, educational psychology has the subject matter which facilitates the selection of the desirable experiences for the learner.

3. LEARNING PROCESSES After knowing the learner and deciding on the types of learning experiences that are to be provided, the next problem arises when helping leaner properly acquires these experiences with ease and convenience. Therefore around this pivot, educational psychology deals with the nature of learning and how it takes place . To make learning process flexible Educational psychology examines aspects: Nature of learning or learning material How this learning should takes place ? Different theories of learning. How max. learning can be achieved in a minimum time?

4.TEACHER Educational psychology helps the teacher to foster harmonious development of the student into a responsible and participating citizen, a sensitive and reflecting human being , a productive and creative person. If the teacher knows the laws of the learner’s psychology , he can easily select the appropriate subject matter for the pupil and adapt his method to suit student’s capacities and interests.

5. LEARNING SITUATION Under this topic, educational psychology examine the following : Classroom climate and nature of management. To use the method of the individual differences to teach children. New techniques of evaluation. Knowledge of educational and vocational guidance by teacher to learner. The study of following is also included in scope : Study of heredity and environment. Study of exceptional children. Study of guidance and counseling. Study of expectations. Study of Group Dynamics. Study of Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics.

Importance of educational psychology The following points are very essential to consider for need of educational psychology for school teachers. Helps the teacher in understanding developmental characteristics of children. Equips the teacher with the knowledge of principles of learning and problems in learning. Helps in understanding individual differences. Gives to the teacher appropriate knowledge of teaching methods. Psychological tests and tools help the teacher to assess the learning outcomes of students. Understanding Group dynamics. In learning the various factors which are responsible for the mental ill health and maladjustment of students. Helps the teacher in developing and using appropriate audio-visual aids. Helps in planning co-curricular activities and timetable etc. In solving problems of indiscipline among the students.

Taare Zameen Par , Indian drama film explores the life and imagination of a 8-year-old dyslexic child. His art teacher suspects that he is dyslexic and helps him to overcome the disability and hence throws the light on the importance of educational psychology .
