SECOND ASSOCIATES MONTHLY CALL -Presented by Team Chamoli.
SUMMARY OF JOHN HOLT’S BOOK “HOW CHILDREN FAIL.” There are some other questions which raised in this book : How does the mass failure take place? What goes on in their heads? What really goes on in the classroom? Why don’t they make use of more of their capacity? This book is rough and partial record of a search for answers to these questions. It began as a series of memos written by Holt in the evenings to his colleague and friend bill hull. Holt was teaching and observing bill’s fifth grade class in day time. Later these memos were sent to the other interested teaches and parents.
A small number of these memos make up this book. The memos have been edited and rearranged under four major topics :

All it has done for her is make school a place of pain and danger, where she is so busy thinking about escape and safety that she can learn almost nothing and use nothing of what she learns.” Pg- 154. how learning processes in school can affect a student’s psyche?
