Ice breaker activity Introduce yourselves with few adjectives. Do u think that these adjectives u think suits u or it is wat others think about u…? Do these define you? Are u something more? Would u like to change ur qualifiers?

    Skill development .  Improvement projects should normally begin with an assessment of the gap between the current situation and the desired future situation.  Having an accurate sense of who you are helps you decide what you should do to improve.  Often, self-awareness will reveal a skills gap that you want to work on.          Knowing your strengths and weaknesses .  Self-awareness helps you exploit your strengths and cope with your weaknesses.  For instance, if you are someone who is good at "seeing the big picture" that surrounds decisions, but not as good at focusing on the details, you might want to consult colleagues and subordinates that are more detail-oriented when making major decisions.  Cooperation between big-picture-oriented decision makers and detail-oriented decision makers can produce high quality decisions.         .    

Activity 1 3 concentric circle, any 3 topics can be chosen. Students will be asked to discuss their likes and dislikes with the group. Teacher can prompt “why do u like it”? “why u don’t like it” It help students to identify with their peers in commonalities and differences.

Activity 2 All students write in their notebook I am…………….. I am excited about………… I wish I could…………. I am wondering………… I am feeling anxious about…………. I am happy when………. I am sad because Some of the answers can be shared in the class Aim of activity-speak in class and share their honest feelings and thoughts.

What to expect from this course? Why is social and emotional learning important..? Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially. From effective problem-solving to self-discipline, from impulse control to emotion management and more, SEL provides a foundation for positive, long-term effects on kids, adults, and communities. What can a teacher do to make d classroom a more welcoming and open space for u..? What would be some of the activities you would like to undertake during the course? Watching movie, reading books, maintaining a reflective journal, engagement in the field, mindfulness exercises etc.

activities 1) students are asked to make a time-line of important event how each one affected them at that time and do they see it differently now? 2)SWOT analysis can be done 3) characteristics of your ideal person… what are their gaps? How do they plan to fulfil it

happiness happiness feels like—being satisfied with life, in a good mood, feeling  positive emotions , feeling enjoyment, etc. It is a state characterized by contentment and general satisfaction with one’s current situation. It is different from pleasure as pleasure is a more visceral, in-the-moment experience. It often refers to the sensory-based feelings we get from experiences like eating good food, getting a massage, receiving a compliment, or having sex. not a permanent state, is a more stable state than pleasure. Happiness generally sticks around for longer than a few moments at a time, whereas pleasure can come and go in seconds (Paul, 2015). Pleasure can contribute to happiness, and happiness can enhance or deepen feelings of pleasure, but the two can also be completely mutually exclusive. For example, you can feel a sense of happiness based on meaning and engagement that has nothing to do with pleasure, or you could feel pleasure but also struggle with guilt because of it, keeping you from feeling happy at the same time. Martin Seligman (2002) argued that happiness has three dimensions that can be cultivated:  The regular experience of pleasantness (the pleasant life) The frequent engagement in satisfying activities (the engaged life) The experience of a sense of connectedness to a greater whole (the meaningful life) Although each dimension is important, the happiest people tend to be those who pursue the full life— they infuse their life with pleasure, engagement, and meaning (Seligman et al., 2005).

happiness The term 'happiness' includes pleasant and positive emotions which can range from deep satisfaction and contentment to pleasure and excitement. The focus of this session would be to discuss techniques to develop the long-lasting feelings of contentment rather than momentary and short-lived emotions of excitement and pleasure. This will encourage and foster feelings of wellbeing and life satisfaction. The teacher will use activities in order to inculcate the ways of developing and sustaining happiness. Writing a gratitude Journal - include in it what you are grateful for. Mindfulness exercises and developing a mindful way of doing things. "As one door closes, another door opens". A discussion based on the three opportunities that they think they lost and consider what it was they gained in the process

What is SWOT analysis  A technique that enables organisations or individual to move from everyday problems and traditional strategies to a fresh prospective. SWOT analysis looks at your strengths and weaknesses, and the opportunities and threats your business faces. SWOT can help your company face its greatest challenges and find its most promising new markets.

Strengths (internal, positive factors) * Characteristics of the business or individual that give it an advantage over others in the industry. • * Positive tangible and intangible attributes, internal to an organization or individual. • * Beneficial aspects of the organization or the capabilities of an organization, process capabilities, financial resources, products and services, customer goodwill and brand loyalty. • Examples - Abundant financial resources, Well-known brand name, Lower costs [raw materials or processes], Superior management talent, Better marketing skills, Good distribution skills, Committed employees.

Weaknesses (internal, negative factors) • Characteristics that place the firm or individual at a disadvantage relative to others. • * Detract the organization from its ability to attain the core goal and influence its growth. • * Weaknesses are the factors which do not meet the standards we feel they should meet. However, weaknesses are controllable. They must be minimized and eliminated. • Examples - Limited financial resources, Very narrow product line, Limited distribution, Higher costs, Weak market image, Poor marketing skills, Limited management skills, Under-trained employees

Opportunities • Are external attractive factors that represent reasons your business is likely to prosper. • * Chances to make greater profits in the environment - External attractive factors that represent the reason for an organization to exist & develop. • * Arise when an organization can take benefit of conditions in its environment to plan and execute strategies that enable it to become more profitable. • * Organization should be careful and recognize the opportunities and grasp them whenever they arise.. • Examples - Rapid market growth, Rival firms are complacent, Changing customer needs/tastes, New uses for product discovered, Economic boom, Government deregulation, Sales decline for a substitute product .

Threats (external, negative factors) External elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business - External factors, beyond an organization’s control. • * Arise when conditions in external environment jeopardize the reliability and profitability of the organization’s business. • Examples - Entry of foreign competitors, Introduction of new substitute products, Product life cycle in decline, Changing customer needs/tastes, Rival firms adopt new strategies, Increased government regulation, Economic downturn.

When to do a personal SWOT analysis ? • When going to an interview – So you can focus on your strengths and talk about them more. It will help in preparing the CV as well. If you have a very good idea about the job requirements beforehand you can modify the CV to match them as well. • When applying for a promotion – helps you to assess yourself against other candidates. You’ll have a good understanding of your strengths against your competitors so you can focus on them rather than your general strengths. • Before a career switch – helps you to figure out whether your skills match the opportunities in your new career or whether they are much suited for your current job.
