5. Introduction The seminar is a common form of discussion employed in teaching nursing . Seminars are used usually for teaching higher level students like postgraduates research, scholars etc.

6. Definition A seminar is an instructional technique involve generating a situation for a group to have guided interaction among themselves with different aspects or components of a topic which is generally presented by one oe more members.

7. Types Seminar can be classified into four type namely Mini seminar Main seminar National seminar International seminar

8. Types cont..... Mini- seminar- a seminar organized to discuss a topic in class is known as mini seminar.

9. Cont..... Main seminar- such seminars are organized in department level or institute level.

10. Cont...... National seminar- it is organized by an association at national level .

11. Cont..... International seminar- such seminar are organized by unesco and other international organisations .

12. Role of different personnel Role of organizers Responsibility of organizer is to plan and prepare the whole program of the seminar . To decide the them . Assign the part of theme to different person . He decides that who will be the speaker . Decides date ,time and place . Prepare total schedule .

13. Cont.... Role of chairman Direct the whole program and keeps the discussion on the theme of seminar . At the end , summarizes the discussion and present his view point on theme . Give thanks to speaker ,participants and observers .

14. Cont.... Role of speakers They prepare the topic thoroughly and Xerox copies of papers are prepared and distributed among the participants before the commencement of the topic so the participants . The speaker should be ready to define the question .

15. Cont...... Role of participates Participants should be well acquainted with theme . They should appreciated the performance of the speaker . They should be able to put question and seek clarification. There are 25-30 participants in seminar .

16. Cont..... Role od observer They are limited to observe activities . They are not permitted to participate in the discussion . They should be allowed at the end of discussion and present their observations by permission of chair person .

17. Procedure of seminar Organizer select the theme and organize the seminar chairman conduct the activities of seminar and direct the seminar on theme. Speaker speaks about the theme. Group discussion. Participants seeks clarification and put questions observers observe the activity of seminar.

18. Summary Today we have learn about introduction, definition, types, role of different personnel and procedure of Seminar .
