Seminar A seminar means a discussion in which small group discussions are held. It is presented through a written or oral report. Its main purpose is the disemination of knowledge and the presentation of one’s ideas among knowledgeable people.

How to make seminar effective The effectiveness of seminar depends upon how different parties and persons play their role in effective way. Roles Audience’ Role Chair Person’s Role Speaker’s Role Organizer’s Role

Organizer’s Role Plan the seminar in advance and other important things. Publish the relevant material in advance. Ensure the proper arrangement. Ensure the proper facilities. Everything should within the time.

Speaker’s Role Prepare the topic before hand. Collect the topic in logical order and pondering over the various relevant issues. Speech is informative, illuminating and interesting. Use the appropriate visual aids. Time limit should be considered. Try to answer maximum question. Convey thanks

Chair person’s Role Introduce the topic briefly Ensure that the speaker finishes his speech within the time limit. Invite the questions Discussion should be on the theme No one should get hurt during the Q/A Convey thanks

How seminar is conducted A seminar is organised in short phases, and may have many sessions. The topic of every session is pre-decided . Discussion is held on that topic. A chairperson is appointed for every session. The chairperson invites the experts to study papers. After that questions are asked. Reader should read the main points in an order.

Do’s Make notes of important points. Practice several time . Start the seminar in time. Speak loud and clear. Instead of making it lengthy, finish your presentation on the time. Smile and be confident.

Don’t Talkative more. Excessive of slides. Hiding the projector or hiding behind the projector. Don’t talk to yourself, talk to your audience. Don’t use “I don’t know” Don’t make unrelated jokes. Seminar should not be overtime.
