Sense Organs
Sense Organs Sense Organs A specialized organ such as eye, ear, tongue, nose or skin that is sensitive to a stimulus such as sound, light, smell, etc., is known as a sense organ . These organs collect information and send it to the brain through the sensory nerves. The brain then interprets the information and tells us what we have sensed.
Eyes Sense Organs Eyes help us to see different things around us. They act like a camera and take a picture of the things that we look at. The picture is then sent to the brain which interprets it and tell us what we have seen. The eyes are very sensitive and important part of the body.
Eyes Sense Organs Eyes are, therefore, protected by the eyebrows, eyelashes and eyelids from dust, sweat, strong light and injury.
Eyes Sense Organs The eyes are also protected by tears which constantly bathe the front of the eye, keeping it clean and moist.
Ears Sense Organs Ears help us to hear different sounds.
Ears Sense Organs Ears also help us to keep our balance.
Tongue Sense Organs Our tongue helps us to taste things. The tongue also helps us to speak.
Tongue Sense Organs The tongue has different regions covered with tiny taste buds. These taste buds help us in identifying the taste of the food we eat. We have taste buds which can detect sweet, sour, salty and bitter taste.
Nose Sense Organs The nose helps us to smell different odours .
Nose Sense Organs The nose also helps us in breathing.
Skin Sense Organs The skin is found all over the body as it covers the entire body. There are many tiny nerve endings in the skin which give us information about the things with which our body comes in contact.
Skin Sense Organs The skin helps us to feel heat, cold, pain and pressure.
