1.Shall we/ shall I.................? (Suggesting something)

2. Will it bother you if .........................? (asking for permission to do something)

3. Would you mind if ................? (Asking someone to do something)

4. Would you rather ............or..................? (Asking the greater interest from two choices) E.g. Would you rather work online or at the office?

5. Why should I/ we...........................? (rhetorical question, emphasizing that the speaker do not want to do a certain thing.) E.g. Why should I blame you? You are not the one who broke that vase.

6. Do you mind if .............................? (Asking for permission) E.g. Do you mind if I come with you?

7. Is it true that............................... ? (To ask whether something is true) E.g. Is it true that you don’t have a boyfriend?

8. ....Had better...... / ...had better not (It is advisable for somebody to do or not do something) E.g. You had better take some medicine. You had better not eat too much sugar.

9. I wish I had ...................../ I wish I had + past participle E.g. I wish I had a frock like that. I wish I could go there. I wish you had asked about it before.

10. There is no point in (verb+ing) (There is no meaning in doing something) E.g. There’s no point in arguing, that’s the truth.

11. .....hardly ever........ (Gives negative sense) E.g. I hardly ever eat beef.

12. ..... Just about to ......... (it happens soon) E.g. Our manager is just about to leave.

13. ............. Can’t help (verb+ing) (Can’t wait without doing) E.g. He couldn’t help laughing when he heard the news.

14. Be+ sick of + something / Be+ fed up with ........ (No longer interested in something) E.g. He is sick of his job. She is fed up with gardening.

15. ...be + fond of .............. (interested in something/doing something) E.g. They are fond of playing netball. My sister is fond of old hits.
