Servo motor
Index what is servo motor how servo motor works advantages and disadvantages of servo motors applications of servo motor More+
Servo motor servo motor is a rotary actuator or linear actuator that allows for precise control of angular or linear position, velocity and acceleration, and can be controlled in terms of speed and turning angle
servo motor: Motion control system
Servo motor advantages and disadvantages Advantage High output power relative to motor size and power Encoder Resonance and vibration free operation High efficiency There is no out-of-step condition, as heavy load placed on the motor the driver will increase the current to the motor High speed operation is possible Disadvantage Require tuning to stabilize feedback loop Complex, require encoder Poor motor cooling Motor can be damaged by sustained overload.
What is encoder?
Servo motor Applications 5 examples
Solar Tracking System Servo motors adjust the angle of solar panels throughout the day so that each panel continues to face the sun, harnessing maximum energy from sunup to sundown.
Metal Cutting & Metal Forming Machines Servo motors provide precise motion control for milling machines, lathes, grinding, centering , punching, pressing, and bending in metal fabrication
Antenna Positioning Servo motors are used on both the azimuth and elevation drive axis of antennas and telescopes
Automation factories (cutting , grapping, moving the parts)
automatic Door Openers Supermarkets and hospital entrances are controlled by servo motor
operation for servo motor
How to shows the correct size of the servo motor? First of all we need to know that is inertia? Inertia is the resistance of any physical object to any change in its velocity
How to shows the correct size of the servo motor? Know for selecting servomotor the following must be considered Performance of the motor improves as the inertia ratio decreases Control loop tuning and machine performance improves as the inertia ratio decreases A motor with too low of an inertia ratio will be more expensive and have little to no performance improvement System inertia ratios should be designed for a max of 10:1 but are typically 5:1 for ideal performance When choosing and calculating an inertia ratio, find the smallest motor that has the ability to provide the speed and torque necessary for your application.
