Blockbuster Video Analysis Essay
The video rental industry was one of the more growing services retailers in the mid 1990s.
However, due to Blockbuster, many rental video companies have failed to compete against this
category killer. West Coast Video, Video City, and Hollywood Video, which are among the few
and only large competitor s of Blockbuster in the tri state area. Many family owned videorental
storescould not compete against Blockbuster s assortment of videos.
Blockbuster opened its first store in 1985 and has grown to become the world s number one
video chain. Blockbuster is open 365 days a year with 9,800 stores worldwide. Customer base has

noticeable business at this part of the area. This Nutley location is the largest store in New
Jersey with 2 floors. There is only a second floor entrance/exit and the new releases are located
on the first floor. Blockbuster also has a large assortment and variety of videos that include:
drama, comedy, horror, action, martial arts, children, musical, as well as the newest line of video
games. They also carry the largest number of DVDs for rent as well.
Pricing at Blockbuster is relatively moderate. New release cost has risen slightly the last few
years and is currently at $4.23 per rental. The length of holdings for the newest releases are two
days, the rest of the new releases are 5 days, and the videos must be returned before noon. Older
category releases are 5 day rentals and cost $3.17, which is cheaper of the two companies.
Games are 5 day rentals and cost $5.99. Blockbuster also offers the rental of game systems.
However, they are quite expensive, they give the customer a chance to test out the system by
renting it before they decide to purchase the item. New video game systems that have come out

The Concepts Of Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis
The concepts of Carbon Emissions Pinch Analysis (CEPA) techniques and Energy Return of
Investment (EROI), with special attention to the methodology and system boundaries of EROI
analysis have been reviewed in this literature. The analyses of EROI results for different fuel
types especially EROI results of hydropower plants are also presented. The essential features of
storage type hydropower plants also have been generally discussed as an important part of EROI s
Energy input calculation. Special attention will now be given to the hydropower resources in
Myanmar in Chapter 3 and the detailed discussion of storage type hydropower plants will be
addressed. Chapter 3 Hydropower Resources in Myanmar 3.1Introduction Myanmar has tremendous
hydropower potential; however the majority of this potential has remained undeveloped due to the
economic and political disturbances. The technical feasible potential from the major rivers and
other potential water resources support the country as one of the renewable energy rich countries
amongst its neighbouring, energy demand countries especially China, and India. Due to the
increase in electricity demand of the domestic and cross border regional energy trade issues
(Kattelus et al., 2015), the necessities for the extraction of the large hydropower resources should
be fulfilled from the geopolitical perspective. In this chapter, the current situation and future
potentials of hydropower resources basically storage type hydropower plants

Cardiac Cycle Is The Sequence Of Events That Occurs When...
Cardiac Cycle
The cardiac cycle is the sequence of events that occurs when the heart beats.(biology.about.com).
There are two phases of the cardiac cycle. In the diastole phase, the heart ventricles are relaxed and
the heart fills with blood. In the systole phase, the ventricles contract and pump blood to the
arteries. A cardiac cycle is completed when the heart fills with blood and the blood gets pumped out
of the heart.
The events of the cardiac cycle described below trace the path of the blood as it enters the heart,
is pumped to the lungs, travel back to the heart and is pumped out to the rest of the body. Note that
the events that occur in the first and second diastole phases happen at the same time. This is also
true for the events of the first and second systole phases.
Cardiac Cycle: 1st Diastole Phase
During the diastole phase, the atria and ventricles are relaxed and the atrioventricular valves are
open. De oxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cavae flows into the right atrium.
The open atrioventricular valves allow blood to pass through to the ventricles. The SA nodes
contracts triggering the atria to contract. The right atrium empties its contents into the right
ventricle. The tricuspid valve prevents the blood from flowing back into the right atrium.

Cardiac Cycle: 1st Systole Phase
According to Richard E. K. (PhD., 2011) Systole represents the time during which the left and right
ventricles contract and eject blood into the aorta

Essay Technical Advancement in the Field of Telecommunication
Technical Advancement in the Field of Telecommunication The move into the Information Society
is driven by the market for new information and communications technologies and services. Whilst
the large number of technologies and services and their providers bring expectations of higher
economic growth, there has been a growing concern about the social, ethical, cultural, political and
economic aspects of the coming society. For some time there has been a considerable interest in the
prospects of obtaining a sustainable development through the use of telecommunication
technologies. The generally accepted definition of sustainable development is that current

Wireless Communications: Explosive Growth.
Explosive growth of wireless communications technology continues as the industry experiences
new subscribers and lower prices for services. The U.S. market had 100 million wireless
subscribers in year 2000, a 16.2 percent rise from 1999 of 86 million. In 1993, there were only
16 million wireless subscribers, a rise of 525 percent rise in subscribers over 7 years. Market
penetration rose 33 percent in 2000. In 1993, market penetration was only 6 percent. The explosive
growth can largely be attributed to intensive competition which forces prices down and increase
cellular phone usage. In fact, the market for wireless voice services is becoming mature. Growth
rates and heavy competition are restricting profit margins.
The U.S. telecommunications services industry will continue to expand in 2001. The popularity of
wireless phones has increased the demand for wireless cellular telephone service and reduced the
demand for in building wired phones. Approximately 50 percent of the population has access to a
wireless phone. With increased usage of wireless phones, the cost structure should be affordable to
the greater population.
Cellular phone growth has fueled expansion of network infrastructure expansion as well. In mid
2000, there were 95,753 cellular sites. In 1999, there were 74,157 cellular sites. This is year to year

Analysis Of The Movie Clockwork Orange
Ryan Wadzinski Clockwork Orange A clockwork orange is an adaptation of Anthony Burgess
novel of the same name, it s also probably Kubrick s most faithful adaptation. This may be
because a screenplay was never actually written. Instead, Kubrick worked it out as he went
along, working directly from the book as he did. The thing about Kubrick that drew me to want
to explore this movie so just how bizarre and deprived it is, but yet the all of its wild and crazy
parts are able to come together to create one beautiful unique dystopian future. The reason is the
attention to detail, he was meticulous to a tee and that attention to detail shows. When you
worked on a Kubrick film you brought you re A no matter what department you were one. That s
very evident with the costumes which were done by Academy Award winning Italian designer
Milena Canonero. The costuming in this movie is fantastic it combines looks and attitudes that
are very clearly 70 s London inspired, the clothing has this mod/punk vibe to it, that felt entirely
original and like a bizzaro version of today. This makes sense because in an interview Milena
stated that Kubrick didn t want to make a futuristic film in a traditional science fiction way; he
wanted to create something that was tomorrow something far closer to today making the movie
timeless. She intended to create costumes that were possible to re create, as street gangs in reality
create the look themselves with clothes they already own.

Hunger Of Memory Analysis
In The Class the character Wei is portrayed as an immigrant who rarely participates or gets
involved with his classmates due to the language barrier. In the autobiography Hunger of Memory
by Richard Rodriguez, Rodriguez himself had difficulties participating in class, and interacting
with his fellow classmates due to the language barrier. In both The Class and Hunger of Memory
Wei and Rodriguez share the common bond of feelinglike an alien in the classroom due to knowing
more of their private language that they speak regularly speak at home to speaking a language
foreign to them, that they have to practice everyday on their own to get familiar with the language
and perfect their pronunciations.
I want people to discuss how being a child of an immigrant you have higher expectations to
achieve, such as having a good education, go to college, get good grades, and be expected to
learn a new language. I want the question to reflect back on the terms private language and
public language from Hunger of Memory and how those terms contribute to Wei s character in
the film The Class. I want people to go deeper and discuss the emotions and process both Wei and
Richard Rodriguez go through. How in the beginning both wouldn t interact in the class due to
only knowing one language properly. How they both went from shy to being a participant in class.
Both Wei and Rodriguez have respect towards their parents and do what their parents ask them too,
especially when it comes to

Ford Heights Essay
Once referred to as the poorest suburb in America, the community has taken many steps to
strengthen its future. In 1987, the village changed its name to Ford Heights. Ford Heights,
formerly East Chicago Heights is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. Ford Heights
was first settled in the late 1840s. It served as a stopping point on the Underground Railroad for
runaway slaves fleeing to freedom. By the early 20th century, the area had developed into an
agricultural community of farms operated mostly by Polish, Lithuanian, and Italians. After World
War I, Blacks from the Southern U.S. migrated to the area and worked on the farms. After 1920,
more residents came to live on newly subdivided land called the Park Addition on a farm road
from Chicago Heights to Indiana. In 1924, the main east west road became a two lane concrete
highway designated as U.S. Route 30 in 1926, later known as the transcontinental Lincoln
Highway. Early settlers included the family of Alberta Armstrong. She and others organized black
and white women to raise funds for a fire truck, and by 1948, this group became the East Chicago
Heights Citizens Association. In 1949, East Chicago Heights... Show more content on

Concerning His Poems, Alfred Lord Tennysonв Ђ™S Work Relies
Concerning his poems, Alfred Lord Tennyson s work relies on an extensive thematic scheme. In
Tennyson s poem, The Charge of the Light Brigade , a number of themes are present including
heroism, honor, patriotism, and loyalty. Put together, Tennyson tells the story of a cavalry brigade
facing their destiny head on.
Alfred Lord Tennyson s poem The Charge of the Light Brigade tells the story of a cavalry battle
that took place during the Crimean War. The poem begins by throwing the audience directly into the
heat of battle. Midway through the first stanza, Tennyson states that Forward, the Light Brigade!
Charge for the guns! [H]e said. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred (lines 5 8). In the
second stanza, the phrase Someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be a patriot means to show extreme support for ones cause or ideas. In stanzas two and three,
Tennyson makes it clear that the men are patriots by stating that Theirs not to reason why, [t]heirs
but to do and die. Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred...Stormed at with shot and shell,
[b]oldly they rode and well, [i]nto the jaws of Death, [i]nto the mouth of hell [r]ode the six hundred
(Tennyson 13 15, 22 26). The fact that the soldiers marched onto the battlefield without a second
thought ...knowing all the while that they will pay with their lives for their heroism (Mazzeno)
shows a great deal of patriotism. Even though the men knew they were charging into their almost
certain death, they kept marching. They believed their cause was more important than their own
lives. Additionally, the next theme present is loyalty. Upon receiving the order to attack it can be
assumed that the soldiers knew they were marching towards their deaths. Stephanie Markovits
wrote and articles that states that ...seven hundred British cavalry proceed at a rapid pace, and in
perfect order, to certain destruction (Markovits 12). With this in mind one can only imagine the
thoughts running through these men s heads. It can be inferred that at least one of the six hundred
thought about turning and running. Or one that thought about disobeying orders. But not a one did
such a thing. The cavalry continued to march in perfect unison to meet their destiny face

The sunwarming and not blinding but just shiny just enough to not have to squint as we

of hard big and small rocks began to take over the steep hill. One more mile on the narrow trails

Saic Healthcare Strategy
SAIC uses motivation, social skills and self regulation as they operate in the IT part of the health
care industry, these three ideas gives the company an opportunity for an increase in revenue and
technology innovation by employing individuals that are designing ways for proving client with
better quality of care. SAIC has divided their company into two companies within a company this
decision has made the firm more competitive in the industries (SAIC, 2013). The major issue that
companies have is competitive both advantage and sustained, the difference is that competitiveness
with any IT alignment is that competitive advantage can be attained while and sustained was
described as a luxury for most businesses but is now viewed as essential for corporations in the
industry to that want to keep up with the current trend and still continue to maintain their status in
this continuous changing market. As the healthcare business endures the most key conversions to
their systems, the advantages for verifying the suitable IT assets in doing this it will give the
company longer productive ((Bradley, Pratt, Byrd, Outlay, Wynn, 2012). As changes to the IT
innovation in the healthcare system, the people and organizations who have invested have the
chance to take part in debates as to what is operating and what is not performing as designed (

The Character Of Don Giovanni
Don Giovanni is the protagonist of one of the most famous Mozart s operas. Mozart s protagonist
is based of the Spanish tale s character named Don Juan, a famous womanizer. According to
Cambridge Dictionary, a hero is defined as a person admire for bravery, great achievements, or
good qualities, [1] it can be said that Don Giovanniis brave, at his standards has some great
achievements, and has some good qualities such as fearlessness, courage, and firm to his beliefs.
One of the main reasons why some people label Don Giovanni as a villain is because at the
beginning of the operaDonna Anna claims that Giovanni has raped her and then calls him a
murder when he kills her father. When taken a closer look at those specific scenes, such claims
are less credible. Instead of being afraid like a usual rape victim, she seems furious. The claim of
rape gets even more questionable when Donna Anna s first recrimination is betrayer, instead of
rapist. It gives the impression that she appears to be angry at the fact that he is leaving her.
Describing Don Giovanni as a murder also seems to be inaccurate. It has to be clarified that
killing someone in a duel is not a murder. Donna s father was the one who challenged Don
Giovanni. He clearly knew that the only outcome was for one of them to die, and that there was
a chance that it could be him. It is also important to take into account that Giovanni repeatedly
refused to fight. Music helps to describe the characters, Every character stands out in the musical
picture. [3] It can be an indication of how he is portrayed as a hero. Mozart shows Don Giovanni
as courageous, strong and confident. When analyzing music, it can notice that Giovanni gets
great music. Mozart provides Don Giovanni with an aria that explicitly embraces his philosophy
of enjoying life: the famous champagne aria, Finch han dal vino. [2] This music is presented as full
of life and celebration which means that Don is shown as the force of life. It can be also be
deduced who Don is by contrasting his character with other s. Mozart also tells us who Don
Giovanni is by telling us who he is not. [3] Leporello is depicted as a character who is a whiner,
coward, and a follower. In one of the final

Mrs Sommers And Kate Chopin Comparative Essay
First of all, John Steinbeck, Kari Strutt as well as Kate Chopin succeeds to create an ideal main
character in each short story. They were invented to be linked with the feminism perception. These
fictional women struggle, as the feminists of the time struggled, to escape the discrimination. When
we analyze closely, the lives of these ladies represent the reality of the pass.
For example in Chopin s short story, A Pair of Silk Stocking, Mrs. Sommers is a wife and
mother struggling with the inequality in the society. She tries to live by the community
principle, where she has to be a selfless person. That is the way women were suppose to act.
Their children and husband were the priority. Their needs and desires weren t taken in
consideration. Mrs. Sommers felt like she had no value. At a certain point of her life, she received
an enormous amount of money. As a mother, she plans to spend the cash on her family. Instead,
Mrs. Sommers indulges herself with material such as shoes and gloves. All of this brought her a
feeling of importance such as she had not enjoyed for years. ... Show more content on

Even if these short stories are published in different time, the development of the main character is
similar. They go trough the comparable problem. The men in their lives put them down. In the life
of Kari, her father and her husband abandon her. Indeed, her father doesn t show up to her
wedding. These actions bring sadness to this young lady. She [feels] lonely and afraid. Later, Kari s
husband cheats on her, which is really unfortunate. These men mistreat her. They don t take this
woman in consideration. Kari gets fed up with the situation, and divorced Ian s father . This is an
option that Mrs. Sommers and Elisa didn t have in their time. It is necessary to note that Kari is a
character created in a different era. Women fought and gain a little bit of power. That is the reason
why Strutt s character can

Brown V. Board Of Education Case Study
Many people would say that the constitution is a living, breathing document. I agree with those
people. Living people adapt to fit into today s society. Our constitution is the same way because
throughout history, our constitution has changed in order to meet the demands and views of today
s society. There are many moments in history that prove this to be true ,such as court cases.
One case that proves our earlier statement is Brown v. Board of Education. In this case, Oliver
Brown attempted to enroll his child into an all white school. His daughter was denied enrollment to
this school. He decided to take action. Brown argued that while the schools are separate, they were
not equal and that this violated the 14th amendment. This battle was won. Some schools began to
desegregate while others began violent protests which required the National Guard to stop it. This
decision changed education and the constitution. The constitution had to adapt to meet the needs,
demands and views of the people which is why this case is a perfect example of why the
constitution is a living document. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Illinois. This case is a good example that proves that the constitution is living. In order to be living,
the constitution must be enforced at all times. In this case, Danny Escobedo was arrested and taken
to a police station. The police denied his request to see his lawyer. He never spoke to his lawyer and
Escobedo confessed to murder. Escobedo was denied his right to counsel. This broke the 6th
amendment of the constitution. Once again, the constitution adapted. It began to be enforced that
one has the right to remain to silent which shows that the constitution is a living, breathing

Exploring the Disadvantages Catholics Faced in Northern Ireland in the Mid 60 s
In Northern Ireland during the 60 s Catholics faced a lot of disadvantages, in areas of Employment,
Education, Housing, and Politics; there is evidence that even the Police Force was biased in favor
of the Protestant community.
Employment was a major area in which Catholics faced discrimination. Protestants held most of the
civil service, government and local government posts in Northern Ireland and even if a catholic did
get employment, many would simply feel too uncomfortable in the midst of all the Protestants. The
main companies were privately owned and although anti catholic prejudice was often suspected

whole range of occupations.
In the 1960 s the government built a new city called Craigavon in the county of Derry, but only
built 5 Catholic schools, despite the fact that 48% of children in Northern Ireland were Catholics.
This discouraged Catholics from moving there. This would cause them to move elsewhere where
there was less prejudice and they could start building foundations. However this had a dreadful
affect on the housing and living conditions. In some cases, Catholic families were bunched up, 3
families to a house.
Following a massive slum clearance effort in the post war years, when N. Ireland was experiencing
a genuine period of economic prosperity, Catholics believed that council houses were being unfairly
allotted to Protestant families rather than on the basis of need. This also affected the voting system,
as homeowners and tenants had more votes.
By the late 1960 s economic recession on the mainland was affecting N. Ireland badly.
Unemployment rose dramatically and the slum clearance stopped. By 1967 the Northern Ireland
Civil Rights Association (NICRA) was formed in the midst of growing discontent. Amongst other

Racism Is Wrong With America
Chelsea Pratt Pratt 1 October 15, 2014 SAT Essay Racism in America There is nothing wrong
with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America, William J Clinton. Have you
ever thought about the problems of America? There are so many complications that could be
solved if our nation united. President Bill Clinton was a wise man that believed in our nation s
people. Unfortunately, our people complain about everything, such as President Obama, our
health, and jobs, but do nothing to find a solution. One huge problem with our country is
racism. It has been a problem since the 1500s, when African Americans and Native Americans
became slaves. During those hard times, African Americans fought hard for equality. They
would protest up and down towns risking their life s asking to be treated like everyone else.
Today I question if we even care that innocent African Americans are killed for being that certain
skin color. Today, certain people in our nation still treat African Americans with no respect. Some
people believe being a certain skin color defines your behavior and think you deserve to be killed
or treated unequally. Trayvon Martin was a victim and murdered because of his skin color.

Cushing s is a disease in which you have an abnormally elevated level of cortisol. There are two
major types of Cushing s. The first type of Cushing s is rare and is called Cushing s Disease , it s
cause by an endogenous factor, which means that something goes wrong inside your body. This
type is usually characterized by the body s own overproduction of ACTH, Which controls Cortisol.
Other internal factors that may cause Cushing s Disease is a pituitary gland tumor (can be benign
or cancerous and is the most common), an ectopic tumor that secretes ACTH, an adrenal adenoma
(benign) and adrenal carcinomas (cancerous). In very few rare cases people can inherit a

Mending the Transatlantic Rift Essay
Mending the Transatlantic Rift
The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 ushered in an era of dramatic change for foreign policy
and the international system. Most obviously, the United States sense of invulnerability eroded as
an acute awareness to the perils of terrorism gripped the American public. In American foreign
policy, the dominant paradigms evolved. Whereas the Cold War notion of the centrality of powerful
nation states had helped order the Bush administration s outlook before the attacks, the new
paradigms explicitly accounted for the importance of non state actors and rogue regimes as the

Napoleon After The French Revolution
Before Napoleon came to power in France, the state of the Jewish people was uncertain. Some years
they flourished as a community, but some years they fell victim to anti Semitism and hatred. They
were constantly moving from country to country as they were continually getting expelled from
one and accepted to another in a very short time. Their fortunes changed for the better after the
French revolutionin 1789. In that year, the French national assembly passed the Declaration of the
Rights of Man and Citizen. The Jewswere not specifically named in the declaration, but somehow
were recognized. The Sephardi Jews got emancipation two months afterward the Declaration and
Ashkenazi Jews, two years after that. These freedoms only happened after long debates between
Monsieur Clermont Tonnerre who represented the Jews and Monsieur De La Faire, who

He established the Parisian Sanhedrin and the Assembly of Jewish notables to help integrate Jews
into French society and help the French people integrate Jews into their daily lives. Although
Napoleon was very good to the Jews, there were some things that he did that harmed them. One
example is that he made the assembly of Jewish notables on Shabbat so the Jews had a very hard
time coming. He also passed the Infamous decree that harmed the Jews. This decree took away
from the freedoms that the Jews had in France and put most Jews into poverty. (French Revolution)
In France, during the time of the Jewish emancipation, the Jews fell victim to rampant anti

Dreyfus affair and anti Semitic media. Even though they had many obstacles, they thrived in many

Social media is the new generation fad and while most entrepreneurs use it to their advantage to
advertise their business, there are many more who believe it is unnecessary. According to Hubspot,
92% of marketers in 2014 claimed that social media marketing was important for their business,
with 80% indicating their efforts increased traffic to their websites. And according to Social Media
Examiner, 97% of marketers are currently participating in social media but 85% of participants aren
t sure what social media tools are the best to use (DeMer, 2014). Today, social media is widely used
in online marketing and a lot of people build their businesses just sitting at home, without having to
invest in anything. However, there are still some businessmen who believe that customers will
come to them as long as their product/service is good through word of mouth. Online networking is
the best stage for uniting a brand with its forthcoming customers and an extraordinary medium for
mingling and interfacing. It additionally empowers the organization to determine client protests and
offer pay, in this way enhancing client administration. One who is not out there on online
networking can t interface with its purchasers and will fall back in the opposition. Online
networking empowers organizations to promote their item and benefits and educate its purchasers

Review Of Atul Gawande s The New York Times Bestseller...
In the New York Times bestseller Being Mortal, surgeon and author Atul Gawande tackles just
what may be the most difficult challenge of his profession, learning how to handle the end of life
process. Throughout his book, he recites the stories of several individuals, in which the trajectory
from a state of independence to one of death can easily be traced in each. Although Gawande
does acknowledge that death is inevitable, he emphasizes that individuals of society, especially
those that work in the health care field, have not yet learned how to deal with this slow process
well, if at all. Surprisingly, he does not blame patients or the intrinsic difficulty that death itself
brings, but in fact is relentless in the criticism of his fellow physicians, stating we ve been wrong
about what our job is in medicine. We think our job is to ensure health and survival...it is to enable
well being. (Gawande, Atul. Being Mortal pp.259) This paper aims to further analyze Gawande s
position on end of life care, understand why palliative care must play a larger role than
interventional medicine during a patient s last few weeks and determine whether a physicians role
during this crucial time should be that of a healer or a sustainer of the soul. Before we can discuss
palliative care, interventional medicine and the role of physicians in both of these settings, it is
integral to understand Gawande s position surrounding end of life care. After all, not only is he a

Knapp s Relationship Model Analysis
Mark Knapp s model of relational development is made up of the ten stages involved in the
coming together and coming apart of relationships. The first stage, initiating, is all about making
a good first impression so that others will think of you as someone worth speaking with/to (
Knapp s Relationship Model, 2010). I first met Ms. Jenny at a leadership meeting. My very first
impression of her when I walked in the room was negative because she barely acknowledged me,
and acted as if she did not really care about me, even though I was the leader of her band. I did my
best to keep an open mind as she began to introduce herself to the group and explained her vision
for the band. My impression of her then improved because she sounded very positive and had
very ambitious goals for our band. I left the meeting with conflicting impressions because I
appreciated her enthusiasm, but I also felt that she did not have a very realistic mindset. In this
particular situation I did not have much of a choice in whether or not I wanted to have a
relationship with her, so I acted positive and encouraged my fellow leaders to do the same. In the
second step of Knapp s model, experimenting, people generally use small talk to determine if
they want to pursue the relationship further with a person (Adler and Proctor, 2010, p. 277).
This step was all but nonexistent because my relationship with Ms. Jenny did not really have
any small talk, and we had to have a relationship together because of my position and her job.
The third step of Knapp s model is intensifying, in/during which partners begin to spend more
time together, their feelings are more openly expressed, and a deeper relationship begins to
develop (Adler and Proctor, 2010, p. 277). This particular step lasted about a week in my
relationship with Ms. Jenny. During this time she trained me to be the type of leader that she
wanted, and pressured me to lead the band more. We also had weekend meetings for conducting
lessons, and she gave me a lot of constructive criticism. In Knapp s fourth step, integrating, the
partners of a relationship become a social unit (Adler and Proctor, 2010, p. 278). Ms. Jenny and I
became a social unit when she put more pressure on me to lead

False Memory, Pseudo-Memory Distortion
False memory syndrome is also called Recovered memory, Pseudo Memory, and Memory
Distortion. False memory syndrome or pseudo memory is memories of an experience, in which
one seemingly remembers that never actually or really occurred. In other words, false memory is a
fabricated remembrance of past events that did not really happen. People often falsely thought of
memories as recorder that are records accurately of all the experience in our brain but, memories
are not always true and accurate and may contain delusions. People might be confident with their
memory, but there is no guaranteed that some memories are actually accurate. Confident may

Self hypnosis can sometimes result in the creation of false memories because the belief that
something happened could be so strong in an individual s conscious mind that it force a memory
to adapt to the belief, even if the event had never happened. A statistic that a psychologist at Ohio
State University in Lima and fellow researchers found about hypnosis was that even when people
were warned about the likelihood of acquiring pseudo memories or false memories under
hypnosis, more than a quarter of the people still want to be treated using the technique. There are
raging controversies over the use of hypnosis to help people recall lost memories of early trauma
due to the false accusation of cultural expectation that hypnosis will lead more accurate memories.
A case study conducted by Dr. Joseph Green, whose a Professor of Psychology at Ohio State

divided into two groups to test the controversies. Before they were hypnotized, 32 of the students
were warned about hypnosis could lead to false memories and other memories that they would not

Abstract
This study examines effects that modern technology/media influence on students and family
dynamics. Most of us do not need the results of a nationwide report to recognize that media have
become an indispensable component and major influence in our everyday lives. A powerful tool,
that contemporary society uses not only to entertain but also to communicate and educate, there is
an ever present availability to media access. However, there is an ongoing debate over whether or
not the power of this influence and its ubiquitous availability yields positive or negative
consequences in different aspects of our lives.

child s development in school and family, but technology grows deeper into children norms as it
revolves around society. Appearance of technology in and out of classrooms increased reliance on
tech, hindering children of this generation. Technology made its debut in the classroom all the way
in the Colonial years with Horn books, wooden paddles with printer lesson plans to assist students

Group Climate In 12 Angry Men
The 1957 film version of 12 Angry Men depicts the nature of a small group setting. Within this
film, we can see the group as a system, the development of group climate, and the different roles
portrayed in a group. Eleven out of the twelve jurors voted the boy on trial guilty when they
were initially asked their vote. Later throughout the movie, the group went into detail on the
trail, thanks to Juror 8, and eventually changed their vote. If it weren t for the call for
communication on the topic, the boy who was being tried would have been sentenced to death.
Juror 2 was the most soft spoken of the group. He plays the role of the newcomer and shows
signs of insecurity which leads to him not being taken seriously and is often talked over by the
other members. When asked for his vote he stated Oh...well, I just think he s guilty... I mean no
one proved otherwise. Not only does this make him seem insecure while he says this, but it s his

Group climate is defined as being the emotional atmosphere and the enveloping tone that is created
by the way we communicate in groups. A factor that plays largely in the film is the literal climate of
the room. throughout the entirety of the film, the fact that its is extremely hot is stated multiple
times. as the pressure builds and personalities clash, you see the men go from being hot, to literally
drenched in sweat. whenever someone makes a personal attack that is out of line, you can notice
that the jurors wipe their foreheads. the group climate is becoming to hot for some of the jurors to
handle. The most noticeable symbol of the heat/group climate is the fan. Throughout the duration of
the movie, the fan does not work and things get heated between the jurors. Unnecessary arguments,
blatant disrespect, and even threats of violence occur during the time that the fan is off. Its when
the fan turns on that the group vote turns from 50/50 to the favor being not

Love and Morality in the The Lady with the Lapdog by Anton Chekhov
Introduction
The Lady with the Lapdog, is a story by a Russian author Anton Chekhov. It is a story that raises
eyebrows and entices the mind as one reads through to understand the actions of the two main
characters, Anna and Gurov. Their actions are looked down and unspeakable according to the
Russian society. Chekhov has successfully managed to show how self pleasure rise above
everything in his short story. The short story revolves around love and morality as the two
characters fall for one another because of their unhappy married lives.

Chekhov has succeeded in bringing out love and morality as two main themes in his story.
Bringing two people who are already married together and giving them the atmosphere and
opportunity to love each other shows some ambiguity in his literary work. Dmitri having
married his wife at a young age while still in the university didn t give him the opportunity to
experience life. He loathes his wife and as a result he has many love affairs ... he considered her
narrow and unintelligent. After meeting Anna and falling in love with her, he does many things
out of the ordinary just to be with her. He lies to his wife that he was taking his daughter to
school just to get chance to be with Anna in a hotel room. ...Gurov went to the Slaviansky Bazaar
after dropping her daughter in school. He lies a second time to his wife on Christmas day that he
is scheduled to attend a business trip at Saint Petersburg (Chekhov 15). He goes to see Anna and
confesses his love to her. Chekhov has thus portrayed Dmitri to lack morals just because they are
in love; he does things against the ways society just because of love. Anna also plays an important
role in developing the themes of love and morality. She truly loves Dmitri and enjoys the quality
time they spend together. Her unhappy marriage with the lackey prompts her to fall in love with
Dmitri who is also unhappy in his marriage.

The Accounting Of Territorial Formation
The accountant of the conquest, and the making of what is today Latin America is a debatable
subject in the field of humanities, especially in the field history. The most widespread approaches
of this history are that of violence, war, oppression, possession of territories, and foundation of new
colonies. In Frontier of Possessions, Tamar Herzog, a historian, professor of Latin American
presents an account of the conquest from a different perspective, one that proposes that the
acquisition of the territory of the New World by Spainand Portugalwas a result of interactions of
many actors that caused territorial division in both Iberia and the Americas(Herzog, 6). Hence, I
conquer that one of the reasons of the conquest was the desire... Show more content on

Under those premises, Herzog steps away from comparative history. And focus at history that look
at the information, in a thematically agreement with specific actors, and arguments, rather that in
sequence, and progression in particular place. From the above mentioned, when analyzing the
territorial division in the Americas is necessary to ponder why the treaties failed? Was not the
Tordecillas treaty, which gave the right to conquest and posses the New World, enough? This
question is very important, and Herzog explores it: the treaty of Tordecillas did not specify a
geographical division; European couldn t agree, and trust their science or modernization. This
contradictory approach is important in the narrative of Frontiers of Possessions; Herzog presents an
opposed view to narrative about the modernity of the Europeans conquerors. It is ironic to think
about modernization, conquest, and possessions of lands when European couldn t trust their own
modernity, and yet used it as a justifiable reason to posses. This comes to show that these groups of
people were common people that possibly did not understood or even care about modernity, but
rather possession through different means. As an illustration, Herzog points out that Spaniard and
Portuguese did not bother about linear or zonal classification of the land.

Rene Descartes Wax Argument
Descartes uses the wax argument in order to present his observations in Mediation II . He starts
off by discussing a piece of wax (a body) as fresh from honeycomb. He then provides a detailed
description of it through what his senses perceive. For example, he describes, Its color, shape
size are plain to see; it is hard, cold...if you rap it with your knuckle it makes a sound (Descartes
1988, p.84). He then puts the wax by fire wherein it melts and all the qualities we had earlier
perceived of it disappear. As a result, Descartes questions that if we eliminate the qualities
observed by our sense perception of a body, can we still claim that the body remains? To clarify,
although our initial perception of the wax differs from our perception now of the wax, we still
agree that that the same wax is present: It must be admitted that it does; no one denies it, no one
thinks otherwise (Descartes 1988, p.84).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this in mind, he strongly argues that the sensory perceptions only recognize the qualities of
that body of wax in which the wax presented itself to us. He moves on to saying that by
eliminating the qualities that we now identify as unessential in order to distinguish the wax, we
now have something that is extended, flexible, and changeable (Descartes 1988, p. 84). Therefore,
he clarifies that our sensory perceptions or imagination are not capable enough in order to
distinguish a piece of wax, rather this is the sole judgment of the mind. For example, although we
can imagine the wax to undergo certain changes and still have the remaining qualities of being
extended, flexible, etc... we cannot imagine all the possible changes because that is outside of the
parameters of the

Parenting As A Blended Family
Parenting in A Blended Family The family dynamics in Max Apple s Stepdaughters and Amy Tan s
A Pair of Tickets displays some of the issues that parents, stepparents and teenagers may or may not
experience. A mother s relationship with her children has a very unique connection, especially
when it comes our daughters. Being a motheror stepmother is a problematical and rewarding
experience: nevertheless, a mother s love is unconditional. How do you except someone for his or
her choices on being different? Is it easier for a step parentto see things more clearly that the
biological parent? Every familyhas its issues. When it s a blended family with mothers, fathers,
stepchildren and other family member, those issues can become more complex to understand.
There are so many aspects that make the core of a family. For example, from different lifestyles,
religion, to positive and negative reinforcement from our parents to raising respectable teenagers.
There are differences in attitudes from teenagers with biological parents and stepparents. With
biological parents the relationship may have some problems, but nothing can compare to what a
stepparent has to endure and try to overcome these obstacles if it possible. In Amy Tan s A Joy
Luck Club, Jing mei feels the pressure of having to fill her mother s shoes from other family
members when her mother dies. Jing mei is forced into old customs and close minded habits which
causes her to lose interest and break away from her

Labour and Industrial Relations
LABOUR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS MISCONDUCT INTRODUCTION Misconduct
could be a serious offence titled to be an unacceptable behavior by an employee or professional
person. Misconduct can lead either to be a major or minor offence depending on the offence
made by the person. In a misconduct case, the basic ruling is that the employer must prove
beyond any doubt that the employee is guilty of the offence. Taking this into view it must be
understood that the employee does not need to prove his innocence but the employer need to
prove his guilt. Decision making is the back bone behind any business activity. Without
decisions, nothing moves and business leaders tasked with making them need the right
information to ensure they are taking the right type of action. SULNAYAH MOHD ISA V.
SEKOLAH KANAK KANAK PEKAK SELANGOR ANOR [1999] Case laws have defined the
meaning of misconduct to be any conduct on the part of employee which is inconsistent with
the faithful discharge of his duties, or any breach of the express or implied duties of an employee
towards his employer. It is also known as a form of improper behaviour or an intentional
wrongdoing or a deliberate violation of a rule or standard of behaviour. In the case of Sulnayah
Mohd Isa v. Sekolah Kanak Kanak Pekak Selangor Anor [1999] 6 CLJ 234 and 235 where the High

Challenges Faced By The Indian Banking Sector Essay
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION The financial crisis in 2008 brought about drastic changes in
customer behavior all over the world and encouraged customers to take a shifted action towards
their needs and wants (Mansoor and Jalal 2011). In the age of globalisation, as no nation can keep
itself aloof from the world economic volatility, India too, was affected significantly in economical
as well as social dimensions. The economic turmoil had a profound impact on consumers (Flatters
and Willmott 2009) and most of the firms including ones in financial sector faced serious challenges
in satisfying the customers as they have became more skeptic and cautious. Even though, the Indian
banking sector has performed extremely well over the last few years and has shown substantial
resilience during the global financial crisis (Das et al 2011), new challenges are seen emerging from
customers. The challenges posed are mainly due to changes in customer demands and diffusion in
loyalty intentions due to low switching costs. The parameters critical in the imparting customer
satisfaction in the banking context, thus demands re definition and analysis for formulating
strategies aimed at competitive advantage. Empirical evidences from studies conducted in various
contexts underlines the causal linkage among variables such as perceived service quality and
customer satisfaction on loyalty intentions of the customer. However, consumer behavior being
complex in nature influenced by environmental changes,

The Pros And Cons Of A Cheerleading A Sport
Most people don t consider cheerleading a sport. People say it doesn t meet the guidelines in order
to be a sport. But there isn t really any specific guidelines for a sport to be considered a sport. So no
one can really say anything about it not being a sport. By looking at the history of cheerleading
and the guidelines in order to be a sportI intend to prove that cheerleadingis a sport. In order for a
sport to be a sport it has to follow certain guidelines. So let s see what these guidelines are. The
first one is it must be a physical activity which involves propelling a mass through space or
overcoming the resistance of mass. Secondly contesting or competing against/with an opponent is
required. Third of all it must be governed by rules that explicitly define the time, space, and
purpose of the contest and the conditions under which a winner is declared. After reading what s
required to be considered a sport let s see if cheerleading meets those requirements. There s
stunting which meets the first guideline. Cheerleading has competitions there s the second
guideline. It has time limit, mat size, and score sheets that meets the last guideline. So far it looks
like cheerleading is a sport, but let s look at more evidence shall we?... Show more content on

The Effects Of Seaworld On Our Culture
Whales in captivity are hurting others as well as themselves; for example, they have been seen
and recorded performing acts of self harming, smacking their heads against the sides of the pool
repeatedly. Whales in captivity swim in trance like states, forced to perform tricks for food,
working endlessly for the pure entertainment of humans. Whales in captivity eat a monotonous
diet, meaning it lacks variety. Orcas living in SeaWorld facilities are primarily fed dead herring,
as opposed to diets including a variety of different animals and species in the wild. This is not
beneficial to their health and as a result these whales bodies react by vomiting constantly
(SeaWorld of Hurt). Orcas in captivity commonly attempt biting through the metal bars that
divide pools in order to get oral stimulation (BuzzFeed). These whales need help and we are
blindsided by the overpowering effect SeaWorld has on our culture. When captive whales
interact with humans, their behavior is abnormal. Humans normally do not interact with killer
whales personally in the wild, so interaction between trainers and orcas at SeaWorld has been an
experimented act for decades. There is no prior research supporting orcas and humans interacting
successfully before SeaWorld first opened its doors in 1964, which is why there is so much
controversy today. SeaWorld allowed complete interaction with killer whales and other animals
prior to the arrival of Tilikum and before there was ever a fatal injury, as a result

The Carolingian Renaissance
The Carolingian Renaissance is known for the cultural transitions and great achievements that were
obtained in the 8th century under the direction of Charlemagne. Charlemagne, who was also
known as Carolus Magnus and Charles the Great, was one of the greatest leaders during the
Middle Ages. He was a military man, king of the Franks, and was appointed as Roman emperor in
800 AD. Throughout Europe, he was seen as a great example of an emperor and Christian king.
Not only did he revive the political system but also the cultural life of Europe. His activities had a
spectacular effect on education and culture in Francia, a debatable effect on artistic endeavors, and
an immeasurable effect on what mattered most to the Carolingians, the moral... Show more content

These changes included the incorporation of more illumination and decorations in the books and
the study books contained some images, but they were not illustrated with color. This tendency
grew into the Gothic period where there were bigger image sizes but at least one if not many
decorations around the page. Foliate patterns on elaborate boarders were the common fixings
integrated in the manuscript. A different artist was utilized to work on different part of the
decoration. An artist had their own unique skill that they used when working on a certain piece of
an image.
A standardized form of Latin, which originated from Classical Latin, was used in the texts along
with new formed words. Medieval Latin was most used in that time and was a common language
used by the people of Europe. In fact, this language was commonly used by businessmen and
scholars for communication, learning and administration purposes. The texts were usually
incorporated first when it came to constructing an illuminated manuscript. Script depended on the
style that was currently being used in society and the one that were most popular. Scripts such as
Uncial and half Uncial were introduced because of the ongoing development and usage of unique
texts such as insular miniscule and insular majuscule. Before these texts were established, the

Extrinsic Skin Aging
There are many reasons the skin gradually ages, including the natural aging process where skin
becomes thin and more susceptible to gravity and genetics. This is called intrinsic aging and is
unavoidable. However, there are extrinsic reasons why the skin ages and the ultraviolet (UV) rays
from the sun account for 80 percent of extrinsic skin ageing according to studies reported in the
Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigatory Dermatology medical journal.
It is well documented that UV exposure is a threat to healthy skin. According to the World Health
Organization, it is a known carcinogenic to humans. This means it has been scientifically proven
that skin cancer may develop after the skin has been exposed to the sun.
Ultraviolet radiation is found in sunlight. It is classified into UVA and UVB. Both of these
contribute to premature aging in the skin and can be avoided by the use of protective clothing, hats
and sunscreen. The first sign that the skin has been affected is a sunburned or even tanned skin.
However, there is also damage that cannot be seen. The DNA in the skin cells is also damaged, so
the cells no longer have their protective function. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your skin is regularly exposed to sunlight, and you do not use necessary protection, your skin
will lose the ability to repair itself. The damage starts in children and accumulates over time. The
older you get, the more susceptible to sun damage your skin is. Not only is the DNA affected, but
the sun also breaks down collagen, which is an important connective tissue in the skin, and impairs
the skin from producing new collagen. Without the connective tissue, the skin becomes weak and
inflexible, so gravity has a greater impact and the skin ages prematurely very

A Short Note On Core Competencies And Competencies
V. Core Competencies:
Core Competencies One: Innovation
The definition of innovation in core competency is defined is to be, Able to challenge conventional
practices; adapts established methods for new uses; pursues ongoing system improvement; creates
novel solutions to problems; evaluates new technology as potential solutions to existing problems.
(NHIV.gov)
One of SOBI s core competencies is innovation. They create a work environment where employees
are free to feel creative and therefore creates more innovation. The company is constantly looking
for opportunities for growth, which is why I think that expanding into these new territories would
definitely fall within this core competency.
Core Competencies Two: Quality
SOBI ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This customer service standard will be crucial when moving into the new territories, as these are
Countries that are generally poor and uneducated when it comes to their options when treating their
disease. The idea the SOBI is there ready to answer their calls and to help them deal with insurance
and financial assistance is a big plus.
Core Competencies Four: Teamwork
Teamwork is something that SOBI boasts about throughout all of their annual reports. They are
very proud of their low turnover rate and worker initiatives they practice. They offer fixed and
variable salaries, long term incentive programs, pension plans, open door policies and many more
incentives to maintain a happy working team. When looking at other pharmaceutical companies,
SOBI has the lowest turnover rate in the industry and they contribute this to their ability to foster
teamwork. Fostering great team work will only help SOBI when they move into these new
territories. If they have happy workers on the ground starting to market the product, physicians and
patient will sense this. Unhappy workers and high turnover rate does nothing to help the
confidences of those purchasing the products.
VI. Pricing
A. What are the fixed and variable costs to the company of producing, marketing, and selling the

communities and countries. For those

The Nursing Theory And Theorist
D. Nursing Theory and Theorist From Novice to Expert , the nursing theory by Patricia Benner,
is probably the easiest theory of all to understand. One of Benner s messages is that a well
rounded professional does not miss out on opportunities to learn from life as well as in nursing
school and in the nursing practice. In her theory Benner describes the 5 stages of nursing
experience beginning with novice and moving up to the final stage of expert. She describes how
every stage builds on and is dependent on the previous stage(s), and how one can learn from all of
his or her experiences and builds on those experiences (Benner, 1982). According to Benner, a nurse
could gain knowledge and skills without actually learning a theory.... Show more content on

These are all good examples of the multiple hats we as nurses must wear throughout caring for
our patients. They are not complicated to follow, and yet they make the patient feel like a real
person rather than just another patient in a bed, whereas their absence can hurt and demean
them. As a novice nurse, I am particularly concerned about the physical aspects of different
patient situations. For instance, I rely on patients objective data such as temperature and pulse
to make nursing care decisions. I am still a hundred miles away from having that advanced
nursing intuition that expert nurses have. Every day I enhance my professional competencies in
order to move up the novice to expert ladder and become an expert professional. As I practice
nursing on an almost daily basis, I utilize the different roles and adapt to the needs of my patients
based on their needs. Every patient you come across has a different perspective on the care they
are to receive, or have already received. These beliefs are informed by one s individual
experiences, education, cultural norms, and even his or her personality. Not only am I as a nurse
adapting to the patients most prominent needs I am also adapting to the patient s family with their
needs as well. Caring goes beyond just the
