What is Anxiety? Anxiety are occurred when we are separated from our mother at birth. Freud called it “BIRTH TRAUMA” satisfaction of our needs the feeling of helplessness Anxiety controls our behavior 3 types of Anxiety 1.Moral anxiety –feelings of Guilt 2.Objectiva or Reality Anxiety- Cause by real sources of danger in the environment. 3.Neurotic Anxiety –externally by others impulsive reactions /actions

APPLICATIONS UNDERSTANDING HIDDEN FEELINGS - Psychoanalysis teaches that people sometimes act a certain way because of hidden or unconscious feelings. EXPLORING CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE- Social workers can look at a clients past to see how it affects their present problems, like trust issues, fear or anxiety. HELPING CLIENTS EXPRESS THEMSELVES - Through open talks (like free association), clients can share thoughts and feelings.
RECOGNIZING DEFENSE MECHANISMS - Clients may use denial, projection, or repression to protect themselves from pain. BUILDING A STRONG WORKER-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP - Psychoanalysis highlights the importance of trust between the therapy and client.
