REVIEW
How many two – digit numbers can be formed from the integers 1, 2, 3, and 4 if repetition of digits are not allowed?
“ Puwede pa ba tayo ?” “ Mapapansin kaya ako ni crush ngayon ?” “May Pag-asa pa ba ?” “ Sasagutin kaya niya ako ?”
Probability of an Event
Initial Answer Revised Answer Final Answer * IRF CHART: Describe Probability in your own standpoint
What to expect? At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to: Describe Probability. Determine the Probability Rules. Find the probability of a simple event. Solve problems involving simple probability.
Probability is a measure or estimation of how likely it is that an event will occur
Formula P( E ) = =
Probability Rules The probability of any event is a number (either a fraction, a decimal, or a percent) from 0 to 1. If an event will never happen, then its probability is 0. If an event is sure to happen, then the probability is 1. The sum of the probabilities of all the outcomes in the sample space is 1.
Sample Problems
1. The spinner may stop on any one of the eight numbered sectors of the circle. ( Assume that the spinner will not stop on the line between two sectors) .Find the probability that the spinner stops in 5.
2 . A single die is rolled. What is the probability of rolling a number that is a prime number?
3. Cherry has a box that contains 8 blue balls, 5 red balls, 3 yellow balls, and 4 white balls. What is the probability that if she choose a marble from the box without looking, or at random, she will get a white ball?
4. Consider a well-shuffled standard deck of 52 cards. There are 4 suits of cards: hearts( red), diamonds( red), spades( black), and clubs( black). Each suit contains 13 cards: Ace, 2, 3, ….,9,10, king, queen , and jack If a card is taken at random from the deck, find the probability of drawing the following: Getting an Ace Getting a face card

Math Quiz Bee: “May Chance pa ba ?”
Mechanics: 1. This Math Quiz Bee is composed of 10 items questions. The questions were all about solving problems involving the probability of an event 2. Time duration per question: 30 seconds 3. Each group will be given a board. This is where you are going to write your answers. 4. For uniformity in answers, answers must be expressed in a simplified fraction
5.On the first question, the group leader will be the one to write the answer on the white board provided. On the next question, he/she will pass the white board on the member on his/her left side. Same pattern will follow on the succeeding questions.
6.Once the time is up, you are just allowed to raise your boards once I told you to do so.
A single die is rolled. What is the probability of rolling a number that is greater than 4?
P(greater than 4) =
2. A bag contains 8 marbles numbered 1 to 8. What is the probability of selecting an odd number?
P(odd) =
3. Jerick is asked to choose a day from a week. What is the probability of choosing a day which starts with S?
P(starts with s) =
4.In a 500-ticket draw for an educational prize, Jefferson’s name was written on 50 tickets. What is the probability that he would win ?
P(win) =
5.Each of the letters in the word CALCULATOR are on a separated cards face down on the table. If you picked a card at random, what is the probability that it is letter C?
P(letter C) =
6. Cherry has a box that contains 8 blue balls, 5 red balls, 3 yellow balls, and 4 white balls. What is the probability that if she choose a marble from the box without looking, or at random, she will get a non-yellow marble?
P(not yellow) =
7. A box contains 7 red balls, 5 orange balls, 4 yellow balls, 6 green balls, and 3 blue balls. What is the probability of drawing out an orange ball?
P(orange) =
8. In a bowl, slips of paper were numbered from 1 to 12. What is the probability of getting a prime number?
P(prime) =
9. In a standard deck of 52 cards, find the probability of drawing a jack.
P(jack) =
10. The local weather forecaster said that there is a 20% chance of rain tomorrow. What is the probability that it will not rain tomorrow?
P(it will not rain) =

Ponder on this…. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11(ESV)
Quiz: On a ½ crosswise, solve the given problem. Of the 45 students in a class, 25 are boys. If a student is selected at random for a field trip, what is the probability of selecting a girl?
Assignment On a ½ crosswise, answer the given problem. The sides of a cube are numbered 11 to 16. If Jan Renz rolled the cube once, what is the probability of rolling a composite number ? B. Read and study about the Addition Rule of Probability( Mutually and Non-Mutually Exclusive Events)
