HANOI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FACULTY OF POLITICAL REASONING ESSAY ON SCIENTIFIC SOCIALISM

Book introduction Social value Value to myself 01 04 03 02 Practical lessons

Author introduction 01 Stephen Richards Covey ( October 24, 1932 - July 16, 2012) was an American educator, author, businessman, and speaker. He is the author of the famous book "7 Habits of Successful People". His other books include: Optimal Thinking, Principled Leadership... In 1996, Time magazine honored him as one of the 25 most influential people in America.

Book introduction 01 “The 8th Habit from Effectiveness to Greatness” is a book written by Stephen R. Covey, published in 2004. This is the sequel to “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”, first published in 1989 The book clarifies and reinforces Covey's earlier statement that “mutual assistance is of greater value than complete independence.” This book helps readers better understand the value of mutual support in life and work.

Main content The 8th habit is about recognizing and exploiting the strength in the third aspect of the 7 habits to meet the demands of the age of knowledge workers. ·Habit 1: Always be proactive ·Habit 2: Start with a defined goal ·Habit 3: Prioritize the most important things ·Habit 4: Think win-win ·Habit 5: Listen and understand ·Habit 6: Work together ·Habit 7: Train yourself ·Habit 8: Find your own voice and inspire others to find theirs.

In today's ever-changing world, being productive is no longer a choice, it's a requirement. Without knowing the right things to do, people cannot keep up with rapid changes and cannot deliver results. However, to root out our challenges today, we must go beyond the commonly heard efficiency to unlock the greatness within each of us. “The 8th Habit From Effectiveness to Greatness” adds a new dimension to Stephen Covey's bestselling book. 02: Social value

The challenges we face today are not due to technology or globalization but to humanity's inability to exploit potential. We live in the Information/Knowledge Worker ( IKW ) Age, but still think and operate like the Industrial Age. In the book, Stephen Covey details how each shift in civilization has brought about paradigm shifts in thinking , replacing 90% of traditional jobs and improving productivity 50-fold. For the IKW Age, we need to move to the “Whole Human Paradigm”, to realize that humans are not “objects” that need to be controlled and motivated but are complete beings with minds , body, heart and spirit. This is one of the great spiritual values of the book as it affirms the parallelism of mental health with mental health (intellect and physical strength).

02: Social value The first part of the book focuses on how to find your voice - this includes using your birth "gifts" and expressing one's voice. We are all born with “innate gifts” of talent, intelligence, and limitless potential. Unfortunately, most of these communication competencies are not fully utilized. Three “Godly gifts” that any individual has: freedom of choice, natural laws/principles and 4 intelligences/capabilities (mental, physical, emotional and spiritual ). This is the second value of his work. He emphasized the value of words as well as its influence in work and daily life. He also points out individuals who are outstanding in their profession but lack the communication skills to demonstrate those great abilities

“To model conscience, set a good example. To engage in pathfinding, jointly determine the course. To achieve alignment and discipline, set up and manage systems to stay on course. And to empower and evoke passion, focus on results, not methods — and then get out of people’s way and give help as requested.” Chapter 5 - The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness

02: Social value Corvey asserts that trust is the key to every relationship - and the glue that holds them together the organizations. Not all we need to be successful is talent, energy and personality. In the long run, who we are is more important than how we look. Trustworthiness comes from personal character: ● Integrity. Your actions are based on principles and Natural laws govern the consequences of actions. ● Maturity develops when we win individually overcome ourselves, so that we can be courageous at the same time and kind, and solve difficult problems compassionately. ● Abundance mentality. Instead of looking at life as one Competition has only one winner, you will see that there are abundant opportunities and resources. You don't compare yourself to others: You are truly happy for their success.

03: Value to myself One of the most meaningful lessons of the work is that you realize the importance of voicing your own opinion. The author writes: To find your voice, you must know what you are good at, what you like to do, what you should do, what you are worried about, and what you care about. "Those who find their own voice do not need management techniques ." When you devote yourself wholeheartedly, both physically and mentally, 100% into a project or job, you don't need anyone to remind you to be on time, to focus on your work, and nothing can stop you. prevent you from succeeding. You need to listen to the inner voice of your conscience telling you what to do. Inspiring others to find their voice is also a valuable lesson. This lesson follows Corvey's spirit of maintaining and promoting the value of cooperation and mutuality instead of working independently.

03: Value to myself The freedom to choose is the greatest natural gift we have is my second lesson To help others find their voice, it goes without saying that you must first find yours. Stephen Covey says that how quickly you find your voice depends on your ability to use your natural gifts. You have full freedom to choose how to react to every life situation. Unlike plants - which cannot move, or animals - whose lives are linked to a chain of automatic and instinctive reactions, we humans have the ability to choose our next action . We cannot control the things that happen to us, but we can certainly choose how we react to them. So whether the next step is forward or backward depends entirely on you.

03: Value to myself The third lesson is to be kind , apologize at the right time and keep your promises to build trust. It's easiest for you to communicate with others when your relationship is built on trust . The more you trust each other, the more comfortable you can talk to each other about things, the more you reflect on each other's words, and the more accepting they are. Think about this in a business context, and you can easily see why trust is one of the key factors that CEOs should pay attention to. Trust determines how quickly you execute your work, and therefore, trust also determines the success of the company as a whole. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY

04: Practical lessons Determine the goals Determine long-term value Foundation to sustainable co-operation with others Goals should be clear and achievable Co-operation should be built on trust

04: Practical Lessons Lesson 2: Give up control and empower others. One of the most effective ways to empower others is to put the power in their hands – literally! That doesn't mean you should let interns run the company, but always expand employee responsibility and control at work. For example, if you are managing a team of cleaners, let them decide what cleaning products they will use, what gloves they will wear, what type of vacuum cleaner they will use, and their cleaning schedule. They will do it, etc. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed under CC BY

04: Practical lessons Lesson 3: Be kind, apologize at the right time and keep your promises to build trust. It is easiest for us to communicate with others when the relationship between you is built on trust. The more you trust each other, the more comfortable you can talk to each other about things, the more you reflect on each other's words, and the more accepting they are. I can easily understand why trust is one of the important factors that CEOs should pay attention to. 04: Practical lessons Through this, I also realized some business strategies, especially for small and medium enterprises Transparent: Be open and honest with customers about the products or services you offer, your business practices, and any potential problems. This will help build trust and credibility. Deliver on your promise: Do what you say you will do and make sure to meet customer expectations. This will help build trust and credibility. Changing personal habits Focus on studying and completing your profession well. This is the first basis for self-trust and independence. Always "improve and renew" learning methods and relationships. Because "movement and struggle" are the basis for "new things to be born". Attention should be paid to maintaining core principles and values, avoiding complete replacement. This is consistent with the laws of development in Marxist-Leninist Philosophy - the theoretical core of Scientific Socialism. Promote the principle of "working together – supporting" with friends, teammates, relatives... This is consistent with a basic principle in the book The 8th Habit from Effectiveness to Greatness.

The 8th Habit - The 8th Habit by author Stephen R. Covey is a book worth reading and studying for anyone. Whether you are successful or struggling in this life. But it is especially suitable for those who are complaining about difficulties, deadlocks and experiencing pain in their lives. The book is like a road map, illuminating to help you overcome to achieve success in life, find your own voice and encourage others to find their own voice. Hope you will learn useful things in this book. 05: Conclusion

Thank you for your attention!
