Activity 2: “Points All Around” Materials needed : bond paper, ruler, pencil and marker, pin Directions: 1. Each group will be using a bond paper and will draw a point on the center of the paper. Draw a circle using the string, pin and marker.(the distance is 20cm). Name the center C 2. From the center , draw a straightline segment towards any point in the circle. Name the line segment CI . 3. Draw a straight line that will divide the circle in half. Name it line segment RI . 4. Draw a straight line that anywhere in the circle. Name it LE 2

Set of all points in the plain at a given distance from a given point in the plane Circle 7

A line segment from the center to any point of the circle. radius 7

A chord containing the center . It divides the circle in to 2 equal parts diameter 7

Line segment whose endpoints lie on the circle chord 7

Point that lie in the middle of the circle center 7

Parts of the Circle center radius diameter chord

Activity 4: “Part By Part” Terms related to circle Name of the figure Symbol Center Radius Diameter Chord

Activity 5: “Getting to Know More” Illustrate the following in the Circle: 1. Center : Point E 2. Radius: line segment NE 3. Diameter: line segment FI 4. Chord: line segment Ni and FN 2

ANSWER! 2

2 ROLL THE DICE!

What do you think will happen if the wheels of our cars are not circular? Let’s say the wheels of the car are triangular or rectangular ? APPLICATIONS: 3

2 ROLL THE DICE!

GENERALIZATION How do you illustrate the radius, diameter, chord, and center of a circle?

2 ROLL THE DICE!

QUIZ: Use the figure to identify the terms related to circles . 1. Point S 2. line segment 𝐷𝑆 3. line segment 𝐷𝐴 4. line segment 𝑆𝐸 5. line segment 𝐷𝑅 6. line segment 𝑆𝑅 5

2 ROLL THE DICE and let’s see who wins!

Using a compass, draw a circle whose radius is 5cm. Then draw the following objects. Write “Not Applicable” if the object cannot be drawn. 1. One chord measuring 2cm. 2. One chord measuring 10cm. 3. One chord measuring 12cm. 4. Three radii measuring 5cm. ASSIGNMENT: 6
