:SMALL GROUP TRAINING: DEFINITION:- SMALL GROUP TRAINING is a technique of imparting specific skills to a group of people who need them by creating an appropriate learning situation. This is an effective method for transfer of technology. In other words, it refers to a participatory and interactive learning approach that involves: Small group size: Typically 10-25 participants Focused objective: Participants with clear, similar and specific goals Interactive methods: Discussions, role-plays, and exercises that encourages participants.

e.g , Awaring the farmers about the role of climate through forming a small group e.g , Awaring the farmers about insect and pests which are harmful to the crop plants.

small group training OBJECTIVES:- To impart the needed skill to a small group : Imparting needed skills to a small group involves tailoring content to their specific needs, using interactive methods like hands-on activities and group discussions, and providing personalized feedback. A trained facilitator guides the group, encouraging participation, questions, and sharing experiences . To motivate people to adopt new practices through skill training : By helping participants connect the new skills to their existing knowledge and goals, and celebrating their progress and achievements, trainers can build confidence and motivation. 

TECHNIQUE:  Identity a technology .  Decide on the time and duration.  Prepare a training programme .  Select trainers with rich field experience and knowledge.  Collect relevant materials, publications and audio- visual aids.  Allocate responsibilities to suitable persons.  Start the programme on the appointed date and time.  Give enough time for discussion and the trainees to react.  Explain the relevant technology why and how it should be done.  Clarify doubts.  Arrange a film show on the topic.  Maintain contact with the trainees.  Encourage and assist them to apply the new practice.

  LIMITATONS:  A small number of people may be trained at a time : With a smaller group size, trainers can address individual questions and concerns, provide customized feedback, and adapt the training pace to meet the needs of each participant.   Follow up requires more staff and time : Follow-up training requires additional staff and time because it involves ongoing support and monitoring of participants' progress.
