Smart charging system A smart charging system uses communication and intelligence to actively monitor and control the distribution and consumption of electricity for charging devices, primarily electric vehicles (EVs), to optimize energy usage and costs, and to balance the electrical grid CSO - EV users can reserve the CSs operated by various CSOs. The system collects all the information about the reservation. Reservation allocation information including occupied time slot and available time slots can be retrieved. Reservation can be modified or deleted by the EV driver. EV driver can also view the historical data of his previous reservations. Overview of basic building block of system architecture

DER - These are small-scale energy resources that are usually connected to the distribution grid. Examples include solar panels, wind turbines, battery storage systems, and small generators ESP - An entity that manages energy transactions, pricing, and market operations between consumers, charging operators, and DERs. HOW? – ESP monitors available energy from DERs and demand from EV, balances energy supply and demand in real time and also manages pricing and billing system .

Types of charging system in India AC CHARGING In India electric vehicle(EV) charging typically uses 240 v for level 1 (slow ac), and 380-400v for level 2 (fast ac ) charging . Level 1 ( slow AC charging) – this is the most common type of charging at home, using standard 240 v outlet . It provides slower charge and is suitable for overnight charging Level 2 (fast AC charging) – this uses a higher voltage (380-400v) and is common for public charging stations and workplace. Level 2 charging significantly reduce charging time compared to level 1. In ac charging , Ac is supplied to vehicle onboard charger. DC CHARGING Whereas in case of DC EVSE (electric vehicle supply equipment) converts main AC into DC within the charge point supplies DC to the vehicle Battery directly.

Battery swapping Battery swapping is a method where the discharged battery of an electric vehicle(EV) is replaced with a fully charged battery at a swapping station. Instead of waiting for the battery to charge, the driver simply exchanges it and continues driving . How? Ev arrives at battery swapping station , the depleted battery is removed manually , a fully charge battery is inserted into the vehicle. The discharge battery is kept at the station to be recharged for future use. Battery swapping process
