Introduction to Domain VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024 The Internet of things (IoT) describes devices with sensors, processing ability, software and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks. The Internet of things encompasses electronics, communication and computer science engineering. Internet of things has been considered a misnomer because devices do not need to be connected to the public internet, they only need to be connected to a network, and be individually addressable. The field has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, including ubiquitous computing, commodity sensors, and increasingly powerful embedded systems, as well as machine learning. Older fields of embedded systems, wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation (including home and building automation), independently and collectively enable the Internet of things. In the consumer market, IoT technology is most synonymous with "smart home" products, including devices and appliances

Latest Trends and Technology Mobile applications for payment and reservation of spaces The use of mobile applications for the payment and reservation of parking spaces is another growing trend in the industry. Mobile applications offer a convenient user experience, as they enable drivers to  reserve and pay for parking spaces  quickly and easily by using their mobile devices. Ticketless systems: an improved user experience Ticketless systems bring about a number of benefits over traditional paper ticket-based models. First, these systems are the keys to more efficient parking management, as they do away with the need to print, distribute and collect tickets. This  reduces the operating costs and time that  users have to dedicate to these management steps. The user experience is also improved, as there is no need for customers to keep track of tickets while their vehicle is parked in the facility. Instead, users can enter and exit the parking facility without ever worrying about tickets, which really expedites the process and relieves stress. From a parking facility operator standpoint, these systems also facilitate more professional management of the parking facility. License plate detection systems automatically record the entry and exit of vehicles, leading to thorough access control and effective billing. VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024

Latest Trends and Technology Dynamic pricing: a trend to watch Dynamic pricing  is another emerging trend in the parking market. This system involves  adjusting prices according to the demand  for parking at any given time (hour, day, season, etc.). This can be achieved  through the use of occupancy sensors  in the parking space and  data analysis systems  to compile information on parking facility occupancy over time. For parking facility operators, dynamic pricing can be a way to maximize income and guarantee that parking spaces are used efficiently. What’s more, by adjusting the prices in real time, operators can quickly respond to changes in demand and consequently adjust their strategies. VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024

Abstract Smart Parking is a parking strategy that combines technology and human innovation in an effort to use as few resources as possible such as fuel, time and space to achieve faster, easier and denser parking of vehicles for the majority of time they remain idle. Smart Parking and its sister approach, Intelligent Transportation, are based on the fundamental ecological principle that we are all connected. Parking and transportation are both essential in the movement of people and goods.  The Smart Parking and Intelligent Transportation vision and overlapping technologies are steadily melding into one integrated stream. VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024

The number of personal vehicles usage is increasing day by day. Due to this searching for a vacant parking area during peak hours is not only time-consuming but also results in wastage of fuel. The drivers keep searching for a proper parking lot that leads to increased traffic. Increasing volume of vehicular exhaust creates a negative impact on the environment. Hence reservation-based smart parking has become the need of the day. VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024 Problem Statement

Objectives To recognize the nearest available parking zone. To provide a solution to the parking problem. To reduce the time to search for parking lots. To eliminate unnecessary travel for vehicles. VII Semester, Department of ISE, RNSIT 2023 - 2024

Literature Survey 2023-24 Author Title Year Description Merits Demerits Janak Parmar , Pritikana Das, Sanjaykumar M. Dave Study on demand and characteristics of parking system in urban areas: A review 2020 This paper integrates all these aspects and presents the state-of-the-art review of models and studies on the parking system. Problems related to and due to the parking, various parking characteristics and their applications, parking choice behaviour of drivers, development of demand models considering various factors and review of parking policies as an integral part of the urban transport system are discussed in detail. Urban transportation planners should thoroughly understand the interaction of parking parameters at planning and designing stage. It discusses different methods for estimating parking policies based demand for parking space. It is not suitable for real time implementation. Vatsal Chauhan , Meetu Patel, Sudeep Tanwar , Sudhanshu Tyagi , Neeraj Kumar IoT Enabled real-Time urban transport management system 2020 In this paper, we propose a system named  iERS , which reduces the user’s effort to locate the nearest available parking slots in real-time. It reduces individual efforts to locate a suitable parking slot.  iERS  helps the user to find an available parking slot and also provides direction towards the slot.  iERS  uses the Internet of Things (IoT)-based infrastructure to monitor and signal the availability of different parking slots around the smart communities. iERS provides better guidance to the users to reserve the available parking slot in comparison to the other existing solutions. It is based on IOT so it needs more cost for implementation.

Literature Survey 2023-24 Author Title Year Description Merits Demerits Rahman Atiqur Smart car parking system model for urban areas 2021 This article is on the smart car parking system. In which we going to utilize the ultrasonic sensor to distinguish the vehicle and it will assist the proprietor with finding an advantageous parking spot. Parking spots are significant in city urban areas. Our system's looking through an ideal opportunity to locate a free spot is more productive than some other existing system. It is based on IOT so it needs more cost for implementation.

Existing System In the existing system, the parking system was manual i.e the when the driver wants to park his/her vehicle, they should go to the particular place and find the parking slot. The existing system has many problems such as: The driver doesn't know the location of the nearest parking. The driver doesn’t have any idea about the availability of the parking slots. There was no paperless ticket. Techniques Used: In the existing system RFID based car identification technique is used. Draw backs of Existing System: Due to the hardware required to implement the existing project so implementation cost is high. There is no advance booking of parking slots. It is not fully automatic allocation and de-allocation of parking slots. 2023-24

Proposed System This project proposes the Smart Parking Management System (SPMS) that depends on firebase, Android applications, and based on Cloud. This gave the client the ability to check available parking spaces and reserve a parking spot. Firebase database are utilized to know if a car park space is allowed. Its area data are transmitted using the WI-FI module to the server and are recovered by the mobile application which offers many options attractively and with no cost to users and lets the user check reservation details. With Cloud technology, the smart parking system can be connected wirelessly to easily track available locations. Our application generate the QR code for automatic allocation of parking slots and verify the cars. Our application produces the voice output for nearby parking slots and available slots. Advantages: Low cost of Implementation Implementation of advance booking of parking slots. Fully automated which gives less burden for the parking managers and car drivers 2023-24

Proposed Architecture 2023-24 4)Retrieval of information 3) Updation of data 5)Response to query 2) Fetches the data and updates the availability 1) Request for data

Conclusion This project summarizes an efficient way to park a vehicle using recent technology. This app allows the user to take control of the parking decision unlike the traditional method of physically trying out multiple parking spots. Using this application on a large scale would benefit the user even if a user is in a new place. The app is user-friendly and convenient have introduced the concept of Smart Parking System which will be able to reduce traffic congestion, which will improve the quality of life of the citizen. Android mobile application called Car parking, a driver can find the available parking spaces in a given area and get the parking fees. 2023-24
