Social Media Excessive Use and It’s Influence to Students Interpersonal Skills

Introduction: Human interaction has changed drastically in the last 20 years, not only due to the introduction of the internet, but also from social media and online communities. These social media options and communities have grown fromm being simply used to communicate on a private network into a strong culture that almost all individuals are using to communicate with others all over the world. We will concentrate on the impact that social media has on human communication and interaction among young adults, pirmarly college students. In today’s society, powerful social media platform such as Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (IG), and Pinterest have been the result of n evolution that is changing how humans communicate with each other.

The big question we asked ourselves was how much has social media really impacted the way that humans communicate and interact with each other, and if so, how significant is the change of interpersonal interaction among young adults in the United States today? The motivation behind this research has been personal experience with interaction and communications with friends and family: it had become difficult, sometimes even rare, to have a one on one conversation with them, without having them glancing at or interacting with their phone. Has social interaction changed since the introduction of advanced technology and primarily social media? In correlation with the research data collected in this study, it was concluded that many particioant’s personal communication has decreased due social media influence encourage them to have online conversation, as opposed to face to face, in personal conversation.

Statement Of The Problem: This research aims to study the relationship between the students interpersonal skills to the excessive use of social media Specifically, this answers the following questions: What are the students profile? 1.1. Age 1.2 Year Level 2. What social media platforms students’s frequently visited to? 3. How much time students spend time online?

4. Is there a decrease in student’s social skills as to the time spent online? 5. Is there a negative impact an students interpersonal skills when immersed excessively online?

Summary: As technology continues to have a huge impact on the world around us, traditional face to face learning is being transformed into web based application. Both teachers and students are looking at “Social Media as a tool to engage, support, and connect students, teachers, and institutions. Social media and web 20 applications are growing by the day, individuals are beginning to realize the different things we can do when incorporating social media into education, and the connections and expansion of material that we gain from it. We are connected with millions of others and able to gain more ideas, experience, and intelligence all because of the advancement in technology. We grew up in a generation of being digitally native, where awe have the ability to publish and share out thoughts, opinions, ideas, and knowledge with the world around us. It technology use it to our full advantage.

Findings: This research we found out of 40 respondent. Most of respondents are using facebook out of 37% in survey. So there is positive effect on interpersonal skills when respondonent we spend online. And the Instagram out of 0%, the tiktok out of 0% in survey

Conclusion: There are more advantages for using social media, however, there is always advantages for a thing. As social media is too convient for people, almost of them don’t even have to “speak out” to communicate with people. No longer, people will lost their communication skills. The more serious problem is many people utilized the power of social media and used it to bully someone. The power of social media is also same as the one in real life. A little of them used social media to do things that against the law, which is a fool behavior.

Recommendations: The implications of the research pointed to the fact that there are various effects of social media on teenager that get addicted to the platform. It was found much importantly that social media over usage can have far reachering effects on the development of teenagers. Thus, it is always important to create a better value of the children that are affected by their addiction awareness and the benefits of awareness were much importantly found. It is highly recommended that a set limit is prescribed for teenagers for the time they can spend on social media. Moreover, it has become important that the schools take note of the social media usage of their students.

Teenagers need more care. Hence, open discussion about their social media activities can be helpful in determining better outcomes concerning their addiction. It is highly recommended that the quality of social media interactions that the teenagers have on social media carefully monitored. It can help to understand the issue that can lead to negative outcomes. In essence, it is important that general social awareness is created about social media and its implications.
