Social science discipline, natural science and humanities
History of social science The beginnings of the social sciences in the 18th century are reflected in the grand encyclopedia of Diderot , with articles from Jean-Jacques Rousseau and other pioneers. The growth of the social sciences is also reflected in other specialized encyclopedias. The term "social science" was coined in French by Mirabeau in 1767, before becoming a distinct conceptual field in the nineteenth century. Social science was influenced by positivism, focusing on knowledge based on actual positive sense experience and avoiding the negative; metaphysical speculation was avoided. Auguste Comte used the term science sociale to describe the field, taken from the ideas of Charles Fourier ; Comte also referred to the field as social physics
Social science discipline -Refers to a specialized field of study within the social sciences that focuses on understanding human society and behavior through systematic research and analysis.
Natural science -One of the branches of science concerned with the description, understanding and prediction of natural phenomena, based on empirical evidence from observation and experimentation. Mechanisms such as peer review and repeatability of findings are used to try to ensure the validity of scientific advances.
humanities Humanities are academic disciplines that study aspects of human society and culture, including certain fundamental questions asked by humans.
so what are the similarities and differences of the three?
The similarities Humanities, social science, and natural sciences are major disciplines that deal with human beings and their culture. The main similarity between the three subjects is that they study society and human relationships.
The difference of the three Social science examines human behavior and society, using methods such as surveys, interviews, and statistical analysis to gather and analyze data. Natural science focuses on the study of the natural world and uses empirical methods to understand and explain phenomena. Humanities explore human culture, history, and expression through disciplines such as literature, philosophy, and art.
