SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION Presented by- Darakhshan Nigar

POLLUTION Introduction or presence of harmful or poisonous substances in the natural environment is called Pollution.

COMPOSITION OF AIR

It is defined as the presence of certain substances in air in such concentration that they produce undesirable effects on humans and environment. AIR POLLUTION

SOURCES OF AIR POLLUTION MAN-MADE NATURAL

MAN-MADE SOURCES STATIONARY SOURCES MOBILE SOURCES CONTROLLED BURN FUMES WASTE DEPOSITION MILITARY RESOURCES

NATURAL SOURCES FOREST FIRE VOLCANIC ERUPTION DUST STORM

AIR POLLUTANTS Any solid, liquid or gaseous substance present in the air that can have adverse effects on humans and ecosystem.

CARBON MONOXIDE Motor vehicles Some industrial processes Combustion of fuels

SULPHUR DIOXIDE Heat and power generation facilities Sulphuric acid plants Burning of fossil fuels

NITROGEN OXIDES Motor vehicles Heat and power generation Explosives Fertilizer plants

PARTICULATE MATTER Motor vehicle exhaust Industrial processes Heat and power generation Volcanoes Forest fires

LEAD Motor vehicle exhaust Battery plants Lead smelters

GROUND LEVEL OZONE Combustion of fossil fuels Reaction of nitrogen oxides

CONCLUSION According to the 2014 WHO report, air pollution in 2012 caused the deaths of around 7 million people worldwide.  It may cause diseases, allergies or death in humans; it may also cause harm to other living organisms such as animals and food crops, and may damage the natural or built environment. Thus as far as possible these sources can be checked and prevent pollution.
