D. Irregularities registered

In 2023, 44,131 candidates were successfully graded, while

291 partially sat the examinations and hence have Incomplete results,
28 cases of cheating were registered, and thelr results were not graded,
8 other students failed to follow the registration criteria hence both cases were withheld.

31 cases of impersonation and their results were considered illegible.
19 cases of unidentified papers and were discarded,

25 unregistered candidates were illegally allowed by the states and schools’ authorities to sit for the exams hence their
papers were not marked.

E. Conclusion

‘These results indicate that the government (National Government, State/AA Governments, National Security and Police
Service) invested a lot in exams control mechanism as shown by the lowest performance of 59.9% pass rate since 2014.

The better performance of female candidates In 2023 CSE examinations could be attributed to the support from the
Development Partners to the Girls Education and the Advocacy made by the Hon. Minister Awut Deng Acuil.

‘The Ministry of General Education and Instruction should exert more efforts in the teaching and learning of the three
worst performed general compulsory subjects of Citizenship, CRE and Mathematics,

The two sections of commercial and Technical should exert more efforts in the teaching and learning of general
compulsory subjects and not to concentrate only on the specialized subjects.
