CHAPTER OUTLINE 1 1 4 3 2 Crisis Management (2.1 – 2.10) My Real Identity (2.11 – 2.30) Two duties (2.31 – 2.53) Sustained happiness (2.54– 2.72)

Now I am confused about my duty and have lost all composure because of miserly weakness. In this condition I am asking You to tell me for certain what is best for me. Now I am Your disciple, and a soul surrendered unto You. Please instruct me. TRANSLATION

SECTION - 1 CRISIS MANAGEMENT INDECISION SURRENDER

Follow or not to follow the duties? Which is better – winning or losing? INDECISION

LIFE LESSON One looses the ability to discriminate between right and wrong due to attachment

LIFE LESSON ATTACHMENT MAKES POWERFUL POWERLESS

Surrender Realizes he’s being weak Takes shelter of “BHAGWAN” Change in Relationship Knowledge transfer

SUPREME SOURCE OF EVERYTHING THAT EXIST SUPREME PROPRIETOR SUPREME CONTROLLER SUPREME ENJOYER

LIFE LESSON At difficult decision making situation, consult perfect authority

Six Qualities O f BHAGWAN

LIFE LESSON Whatever good i see in me is because he shares a spark of his opulence

As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change. TRANSLATION

Who Am I ?

Composition of Myself: Gross Body Subtle Body Soul After death, Subtle body and Soul goes to next gross body. ( Eg - old shirt – new shirt ) Gross Body (Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether) Subtle Body ( Mind, Intelligence and Ego ) Soul ( Sat, Chid and Ananda )

VERSE 2 .20 TRANSLATION For the soul there is neither birth nor death at any time. He has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain.

Evidences for existence of Soul Common sense understanding Near death experience (NDE) Out of body experience Past life memories

NDE ( NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE )

I can’t escape my miseries by exploiting or damaging or destroying my body. LIFE LESSON

You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty. VERSE 2 .20 TRANSLATION TWO DUTIES (2.31 - 2.53)

Duty towards the Body Duty towards the Soul Taking care of family and job ( Sva -dharma ) Chanting krsna’s name, Reading BG ( Sanatana dharma )

Taking care of Cage(Body) not the Bird(Soul).

In this endeavor there is no loss or diminution, and a little advancement on this path can protect one from the most dangerous type of fear. VERSE 2 .40 TRANSLATION

Miseries of life are the symptoms of imbalance; Pause and reflect. Balance the two! LIFE LESSON

Though the embodied soul may be restricted from sense enjoyment, the taste for sense objects remains. But, ceasing such engagements by experiencing a higher taste, he is fixed in consciousness. VERSE 2 .59 TRANSLATION SUSTAINED HAPPINESS (2.54 - 2.72)

IF ONE PERFORMS THE TWO DUTIES WITH DETERMINATION AND ENTHUSIASM THEN ONE BE HAPPY IN THIS LIFE AND IN THE NEXT . KEY TO SUCCESS & JOY

Experiencing Higher Taste

LIFE LESSON Missing link to higher taste - Bhagwad Gita

From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool. While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises. TRANSLATION TRANSLATION VERSE 2 .62 VERSE 2 .63

LIFE LESSON Beware of damaging thoughts as it gets converted into cruel plans and ends up in regrettable action.
