Rainbow Teams
Rainbow Teams are a great way to get your children to work in a group and to extend their knowledge of a subject effectively.
Each child is given one of four colours - green, blue, red and yellow from the Rainbow Teams Colour Cards, In their colour team, e.g, the red team, they research
an area of a topic while the green, blue and yellow teams do the same thing with their own area.
Once they have all researched their own area, they split into rainbow teams (groups with at least one person from each colour team).
They then share what they have learnt, building up a fuller picture of a topic!
If your class does not split equally into teams of four, they can just share the feedback to the rainbow team.
St Andrew's Day
Using the Internet or books, get your class to research one of the four aspects of Saint Andrews life and then share that information with the rest of their
group. As Saint Andrew was a disciple of Jesus, the Bible is a good source of information. The following passages might be useful: Matthew 4:18-20, John
1:44, John 6:5-13. There are many free online versions of the you do not have any copies.
Decide with them what information you want them to find out (suggestions below
+ Life - (Why is he celebrated? What his job was? When he was alive?)
+ Links to Scotland - (How did he become patron saint of Scotland?)
+ Celebrations - (How is St. Andrews Day celebrated in Scotland? What traditions are associated with St. Andrews Day?)
