competition that are present in the market.

Asageneralruleofthumb,“families”ofcategoriesdefinetheproductandsystemtype(e.g.FlowMeasuring
Devices,PressureMeasuringDevices,…),“sub-families”definethefunction,whilethe“categories”aredescribedby
theoperatingtechnologythatisusedinordertoachievethemeasurement(e.g.MagneticFlowMeters,Ultrasonic
FlowMeters,…).
LocalControllershavenotbeenconsideredsincenotthatfrequentanymoreintheplant.Thatappliesalso,in
general,topneumatic-drivenapplications.
Control Systems
•ThisFamilydescribeasetofdevicesthatmanages,commands,
directsorregulatesthebehaviourofotherdevices,systems,
machinesandprocesses.
•ICSS(IntegratedControlandSafetySystem)identifysystemsthat
havecontrolandsecurityfunctions(SIS,F&G,..)andaredelivered
throughseparated«machines»,butintegratedatphysicalaswellas
programminglevel.
