Evaluation of Self-Learning Modules

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Guidelines in the Evaluation of Layout and Design   Objectives To evaluate the layout and design of the learning resources for compliance with the standards by the Department of Education. To write specific comments and findings on the margins of pages of the materials where inadequacies in layout and design are found. To prepare and submit a report using the prescribed Layout and Design Evaluation Tool and Summary of Findings template for each assigned material. To discuss with the development team/s the comments, recommendations, and revisions to be implemented on the materials (if needed)

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   1. Terms of Reference . The Learning Resource Evaluators (LREs) shall perform the following roles and responsibilities: 1.1 Evaluate and check the assigned SLMs for physical attributes, design and layout, typographical organization, visuals, and other types of format errors. 1.2 Write specific comments and findings on the margins of the learning resources and prepare an evaluation report that shall guide the development team in making needed revisions.

Mechanics   2. Individual Evaluation . You will download/receive the following materials: Assigned set/s of materials to be evaluated Evaluation Tool for Layout and Design Summary of Findings, Corrections and Review

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   3. Allot sufficient time to evaluate and accomplish the Individual Evaluation tool and SFCR for each material. 4. Evaluate the materials one at a time. First, scan the material in order to appreciate quickly its organization, coverage, and general approach. Then, read and study the materials by page and evaluate the LR in its entirety to determine if there are errors in layout and design.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   5. Write all your specific comments, findings, and recommendations/suggestions in the SFCR in chronological order. Use the following criterion items found in the Evaluation Tool template as your guide in writing marginal notes: A. Physical Attributes B. Design and Layout C. Typographical Organization D. Visuals

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   6. After evaluating the material, go over your marginal comments to validate/confirm that the findings and recommendations are consistent and thorough and to check that none is missed out. 7. Prepare your Summary of Findings report using the template. Ensure that all comments and recommendations indicated in the modules are included in the SFCR report. Notes on the specific pages of the modules must adequately support comments written in the Summary of Findings report.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   8. Provide an overall assessment on the layout and design based on the comments and findings noted in the materials. Encode the SFCR report of the overall findings and recommend if the learning resource requires minor or major revisions.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   After individual evaluation of each LR, immediately submit each material with marginal comments and the duly accomplished summary report on a staggered basis until all materials have been evaluated. 10. Affix your signature and indicate the date accomplished on the last page with an initial at the back of each page.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   11. Submit all your workshop outputs to the assigned PMT. For the outputs in digital format, the file name conventions shall be as follows: SLM : Learning Area and Grade Level_Quarter Number_Mod Number_Surname Sample: Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng Evaluation Tool : Tool_Learning Area and Grade Level_QN_MN_Surname Sample: Tool_Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng Summary of Findings : SF_Learning Area and Grade Level_QN_MN_Surname Sample: SF_Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   12. Team Evaluation . Understand the objectives of the team evaluation. 13. Apportion enough time for discussion, preparation of the final team copy with validated marginal notes, evaluation tool and Summary of Findings for each materials evaluated.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   14. Delegate the tasks among the team members. Assign a member who will guide the discussion regarding individual findings, who will prepare the team’s ET and SFCR on the final team copy. The members may take turns in doing the tasks for each material. 15. Have each comment/error validated by the other team members. Your team must have a consensus on the comments, recommendations, or corrections to be written on the team’s ET and SFCR.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   16. Accomplish the team’s ET and SFCR to include all validated comments and recommendations. 17. Submit the team’s ET, SFCR, and the team copy with marginal notes to the PMT for checking. 18. Ensure that all team members review, sign, and date the final team’s tool and SFCR on the last page and affix their initials at the back of each page.

SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS NORTE Mechanics   19. Submit all your workshop outputs to the assigned PMT. For the outputs in digital format, the file name conventions shall be as follows: SLM : Team_Learning Area and Grade Level_Quarter Number_Mod Number_Surname Sample: Team _ Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng-Cruise-Tom Evaluation Tool : Team_Tool_Learning Area and Grade Level_QN_MN_Surname Sample: Team_Tool_Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng-Cruise-Tom Summary of Findings : SF_Learning Area and Grade Level_QN_MN_Surname Sample: Team_SF_Filipino4_Q1_Mod1_Tumaneng&Cruise
