Laurie Williams Bully
Robin s mother, Laurie Williams, wasn t always around, but on the days she was,
she was watching Robin do his crazy performances. She never got tired of his jokes
and performances. Williams grew up in isolation with no friends; therefore, school
was an interesting world for him. Many recall Williams as being a disruptive child.
Miss Granice was so fed up with his distraction, like making strange sounds while
everyone was doing school work, she kept moving William s desk farther away from
the others until finally he was put into the hall. WilliamsВ ґ isolation made him shy

being first local comedian to play at the Boarding House. Dougan says He
(Williams) admits himself that, had he not been doing stand up, he shudders to

enabled him to deal with the frustrations of the world. What he referred to as his

with his problems through a variety of different characters. Williams quickly
spread his comedy through many clubs, including the Holy City Zoo. Williams
loved the atmosphere of the Holy City Zoo, begun to work there, and met Valerie

The Role Of Female Genital Mutilation On Malian Culture
Abstract
In Africa, especially in Mali female genital mutilation is a common practice.
This mutilation is a historical and cultural practice that is deeply rooted in the
Malian culture. The practice is part of the Malian rite of passage, that marks a young
girl s transition from childhood to adult life. However ,this issue compromises and
violates women s rights.
The Purpose of this paper is to find out how will the ban of Female Genital Mutilation
affect malian culture and what measures have been taken to end this practice.

The Importance Of Being Earnest By Wilde
The Importance of Being Earnest , is utilised by Wilde to draw attention to the
superficiality of the social facades predominantly maintained by the upper classes,
through the physical depiction of Jack and Algernon s aliases. Wilde further
exemplifies his discontent with widespread social conventions at the time by
satirising the arrogance of the aristocracy with a constant underlying
representation of the lower classes as a more humble and less pretentious social
division. Moreover, the playwright embeds heavy hypocrisy and explores the
general understanding of what it means to be earnest in order to mimic and
highlight the flaws of Victorian society at the time. In Act 1, Jack is discovered to
have been using the false identity of Ernest Worthing while in town in order to
escape his responsibilities in the country, while Algernon is revealed to be using a
fictional character of his own to escape arduous social obligations. The two
protagonists must use these aliases to enable them to defy the typical social
expectations of the late nineteenth century. Wilde employs this substantial element of
the play to epitomise his view that the breadth of social requirements can become
overbearing; the simple fact that Jack and Algernon feel the need lie extensively to
gain a sense of social satisfaction indicates the great depth of societal constrictions
placed upon the upper class. This becomes apparent when Algernon attempts to make
use of his fabricated relative in order

Analysis Of The Article Detroit Bankruptcy Filing Sent...
Detroit s bankruptcy filing sent a cold chill down my back as I read the article.
Detroit is the largest city in the United States to file for bankruptcy ever. Although
Detroit might be the largest city ever to file for bankruptcy, it is definitely not the
only city to file for Chapter 9. Other cities that join Detroiton the Chapter 9 list would
include Jefferson, AL; Stockton, CA; Harrisburg, PA; San Bernardino, CA;
Mammoth Lakes, CA; Central Falls, RI and Boise County, ID. Between these eight
broke cities Mammoth Lakes, Harrisburg and Boise County were amongst those that
were dismissed. The Chapter 9 list of cities has racked up billions of dollars

It is the federal government s duty to take action on behalf of the state and its people.
History has shown us when the federal government does not take affirmative action
and assure the people matters are in order; people become frantic, hence the 1920 s
stock market crash. According to the Wall Street Journal, the federal government
should not be held accountable for everything. In their views, the current level of
expectation regarding the federal government is extremely unrealistic. It is only fair
to agree with the Wall Street Journal. The people should realize that the federal
government cannot supervise every aspect of government or the citizens or each
individual. The federal government should not feel obligated nor should they provide
funding to any cities to preserve them from going into bankruptcy. Unless the federal
government is a direct contributor, the government should not be held responsible to
bail out any city and I believe the idea alone is very detrimental to the current
economy. At this very moment the United States total national deficit currently
stands at $16,787,451,118,147. Opening the door for bailouts is comparable to
opening Pandora s Box, a very dangerous thing for our economy and for our
children s futures. I do expect the federal government to step in, formulate a plan,
and seek ways to get the city out of debt;

Sociology Essay On Cult
There is no universally agreed definition of the word cult , it is only rarely used as
a self description and does not refer to any particular belief system. Since the 1920s,
the word cult has most commonly been used to designate a minority religious group
whose beliefs and practices an outside observer views as dangerous or strange.
There are different varieties of cults, the Moonies, the Children of God, Eckankar,
the Hare Krishna, and Scientology are a few. Basically, there are two main types of
cults, those with Christian based beliefs, and those with Eastern Religion based
beliefs.
Some organizations have issued checklists with characteristics of destructive cults .
From a sociological perspective, many of these lists contain value judgements which
are arguably a matter of opinion rather than fact, e.g. a cult is a group with a
manipulative leader who financially exploits the members. By using this description,
any group which tithes could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

may incorrectly assume that the people who join cults are in search of support of all
kinds. The parents of these members, however, tend to be well off financially and
able to properly support their children. Many members associate themselves with a
highly authoritarian cult that emphasizes enthusiastic religious devotion. They are in
search of group support and family values that lacked in their childhood. This is
viewed as deviant behavior because they find conventional ways unsatisfactory to
their lives, and instead find unorthodox means to fulfill their

Anglo Saxon England
4. Vikings in Anglo Saxon England Scandinavian influence The process of
Christianization and Latin influx was interrupted at the end of the eight century (787)
when the Vikings (Norwegian and Dane tribes) began their ravages over Anglo Saxon
England, sacking monasteries like Lindisfarne and Jarrow (793 794). By the ninth
century, churches and monasteries in Northumbria and Mercia lay in ruins while
settlements in all parts of the country had been plundered and northern towns, such as
York in 867, captured. Anglo Saxon kingdoms were finally overturned while the
Vikings established their own kingdom in the northeast of England(the Danelaw).
Under King Alfred s rule of Wessex (871 899) and despite several conflicts, the
Danish were contained in such area. In turn, the Danish king had to convert to
Christianism, although the moral fibre of the church was seriously disrupted (Baugh
(2005:79). Then Alfred s descendants, Edward the Elder (900 925) and Athelstan (925
939), extended their authority throughout England Athelstan s triumph in 937 in
Brunanburh was crucial, which is recorded in an Old Englishpoem with the same
name. However, invasions were repeated at the end of the tenth century along the
southeast coast, led by the Norwegian and Danish kings, Olaf and Svein respectively,
who attacked London. Svein made himself king, sending the English king Г†thelred
the Unready into exile in Normandy. England was hence ruled by Danish kings from
1014 to 1017, when the Danish

Nahko My Country Analysis
The song that I choose is called My Country by Nahko and medicine for the
people. This song makes me laugh and makes me think if I listen carefully to the
lyrics. It is a very similar to the song My country tis of thee , although in this
version, instead of it being about the great thing in America, it is about the not so
great things in America. It is not being rude or disrespectful at all, but funny as if
he were joking around. For example, in the beginning of the song, in the original
version, the first of it goes My country tis of thee. Sweet land of liberty. , but in this
version, he altered it to say My country tis of thee. Sweet land of industry. Basing it
off of all of the roads, buildings, skyscrapers, and the pollution

Interview On The Killing Of Jeremy Mardis
CNN reporter Nick Valencia was the interviewee for my topic of the killing of
Jeremy Mardis. This interview was information gathering because Nick had
reported on the story of Jeremy. Both Nick and I had established a rapport because
I was scheduled to meet with him to ask him about his career and professional
advice. Nick was called in for a story which led to us doing a thirty minute telephone
interviewthat was moderately scheduled for a Saturday afternoon in which I asked
Nick various questionsabout the story and why/who he interviewed. The way I set up
the questions for the interview was using the hourglass sequence in which I would
ask a open question, then go to a closed question and so on. It all started with my
opening.
In starting the interview I used a verbal opening technique in which I stated the
purpose of why I was conducting the interview. The way I tried to conduct the
interview was by using the nondirective approach. I had a list of questions prepared
to ask, but I wanted and needed to listen to see where Nick s responses would lead
me. Even though I took the nondirective approach one of the main focus for myself
that I tried to do was just have a conversation with Nick and not make it feel like an
interview. The first question I asked was open ended about how does he mentally
prepares himself to interview someone about a tragic event. Nick said, I know the
situation the best I can before I go into it and know that it is going to be a sensitive

The Tale of Youth
The Tale of Youth
Chaucer s Squire s tale has often been disregarded by critics as fragmentary,
incoherent, and a rambling narrative. (Lawton 106) These characteristics shed a
malevolent light on the tale, and raise questions on the unfinished status in the
Canterbury Tales. The argument presents itself due to the interruption of the narrative
by the Franklin leaving it without the ending, which has been foreshadowed earlier in
the tale. The answer to this enigma is pure speculation. (Lawton 123) In order to
examine the congruity of the tale with its teller, it is imperative to set aside the
argument and let these be faults of the narrator, not the author, [with] attention duly
shifting to Chaucer s creature, the Squire, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nobility were indifferent to learning, and they preferred to stay that way. (Hexter
2) Chaucer s squire is the ideal, the pedagogical goal towards which gentlemen...
direct their children. (Hexter 3)
His lack of education in literary forms would have left him less than perfect in the
realm of rhetoric. He knows the tropes, and is quite familiar with occupatio, as it
guilefully takes almost as long to refuse to do something as it would to do it...
(Lawton 122) It must however, be remembered that he is not an experienced story
teller. It can be taken, due to the incoherence of the tale, that not only are the
frequent incongruities and instability of tone to be imputed to the squire, but also
the tale s rhetoric #61630;figures, disposition, and even invention . (Lawton 114)
Much of the tale focuses on gentilesse and chivalry. His tale is in concordance with
the ideals of chivalry #61630;courtesy, loyalty to duty, and service to the oppressed.
(Taylor 190) The squire s portrayal of the king Cambyuskan is in accordance to a
code of standards and morals he would have learned to be appropriate to the
aristocracy and to the ruling head as well. He begins his tale by describing
Cambyuskan as being so excellent a lord in alle thyng. (Chaucer ST 15) His
depictions of the loyalty of the king to his religion and justice, his strength and
charity, and his honor and benignity are true to the code of

The Unity of the Mind and Body
The Unity of the Mind and Body Both Michel De Montaigne and John Donne argue
that the cultivation of the mind is linked to the well being of the body. Both argue
that a mind void of proper enrichment and education will lead to an unhealthy body.
However, Montaigne argues that the appropriate means of #8220;education and
enrichment #8221; are studying and following the works of other great thinkers of
history. Additionally, Montaigne declares imaginationto be the impetus for the
downfall of the body. Conversely, Donne argues that a mindgroomed in imagination is
the proper mode of finding bodily health. In their writings, both Montaigne and
Donne are seeking a unity between the mind and the body. By comparing Montaigne

He declares that the #8220; #8230;comical impediments which so embarrass our
society that they talk of nothing else are most likely caused by apprehensions and
fears #8221;(pg.39). These apprehensions and fears are brought on, Montaigne
argues, by an imagination that controls the mind and body. Montaigne even goes as
far as to call imagination the culprit for many people falling ill, as he says that the
reason some people become sick is that their imaginations concoct how bad they
could feel, and their bodies simple follow suit. He states that #8220; #8230;the mind
must generally be prepared in advance. #8221;(pg.41) in order for the body to feel a
certain way. Montaigne #8217;s whole argument in the essay reflects his distaste for
the cultivation of a mind through imagination and his idea that imagination leads to
an unhealthy mind and consequently, an unhealthy body. John Donne #8217;s
general viewpoint on the relationship between the mind and the health of the body
differs greatly from Montaigne #8217;s. Donne #8217;s theory is simply that the
path to a healthy body is an imagination. He claims that the imagination is the
machine responsible for creating the ideas that make the body feel good. As for
education, he argues that the highest forms of education are not from history books
or philosophers, but

U.S. Municipal Solid Waste
In 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency estimated that Americans generated
250 million tons of municipal solid waste, MSW1, of which only 87 million tons
were recycled or composted ( Municipal Solid Waste , 1). This value, however, does
not represent the total amount waste generated by the United States since MSW only
accounts for 2 percent of total wastegenerated. As more trash is generated, space to
construct more landfills becomes an issue. In order to reduce the amount of solid
waste produced, the federal government must implement and enforce a new waste
disposal method that emphasizes compostingfood waste.

Across the country cities have taken the initiative to reduce their carbon footprint and
enact stricter regulations for sorting trash and collecting it. As stated by Phuong Le
of the Seattle Times, Striving to reduce the trash it sends to landfills, Seattle has
banned foam take out containers and plastic bags, told residents they must recycle
cardboard and compost food scraps... ( Seattle Idea ). In order to eliminate excess
waste from entering landfills, Seattle has prohibited the distribution of non
decomposable items and encouraged composting and recycling. By introducing strict
regulations on non decomposable materials entering the city and having its
citizens sort their own trash, the amount of waste that a city sends to landfills will
be reduced. Wheeler, journalist for the Baltimore Sun, states, Recycling that food

compost can help grow new food by enhancing depleted soils ( Maryland Firm ).
Wasted food can be converted into compost instead of being discarded in landfills
can be used in the growth of new foods while enhancing the soil around it. Since
compost is rich in nutrients, the city not only saves money by recycling food waste
but it can also profit since the compost can be sold to local farmers and gardeners.
Composting is an emerging market that is gaining momentum as more

act. Many people were shocked to witness what was happening and were curious
why this action was performed. Skipping through the aisles was scary and made me

If I had to tweak my attempt to break a social norm, I would have spiked my hair

Romantic Poetry: Blake s Biblical References
William Blake s illustrated collection of poems, Songs of Innocence and Experience ,
were written to contrast the different elements of the human soul. Throughout the
collection, Blake redefines both innocence and experience, and closely contrasts them
through two parallel poems, The Lamb and The Tyger . Both poems incorperate
biblical references, amd present a clearer view of the relationship between
innocence and experience. Blake was a pious man, and as a young child, he had
visions of God, angels, and believed to have recieved messages from his deceased
brother. Much of his work has religious elemenets, and his poems are said to reflect
his own interpretations of the relationship between the human and the divine, as well
as the human experience as a whole (Finkelstein 2016). The biblical references made
in Blake s poems, The Lamb and The Tyger , are used to express the relationship

Similarly to The Lamb , the poem begins with the speaker asking the tiger about its
origin and creator. Blake states, What immortal hand or eye, / Could frame thy
fearful symmetry? (3 4). By stating the human like features of hands and eyes are
immortal, the idea of Christianity and religion is immediatly brought to mind.
The poem continues on with many questions realting to how the tiger came to life
and why it is how it is. The tiger is descibed as being beautiful, yet terrifying, so it
comes as a shock to the speaker that the creator of the tiger may be the same creator
of the lamb. Unlike the lamb s innocence, the tiger s experience shows a more
harsh side of the world, where things do not always go well and people are more
aware of their troubles. The poem focuses on the influence of violence and questions
why a powerful creator would come up with something so

Louise Nevelson

Sky Cathedral Presence
Survey of World Art
By
Vyacheslav Borts
The sculptress Louise Nevelson was a towering figure of American modernism.
Born in 1899, she came to prominence in the late 50s, gaining renown for
monochromatic structures built out of discarded wood. Critic Arthur C. Danto
wrote, There could be no better word for how Nevelson composed her work than
bricolage a French term that means making do with what is at hand. (Danto 2007)
Her pieces evolved and expanded in size across the latter 20th century, moving from
smaller pieces to wall sized ones, and the plays of volume therein, between light and
mass, generated comparisons to numerous different movements. The following paper

The poignancy of this girl s untimely death and the instant of life the Grave Stele
captures are both magnified by the weight and constancy of the marble. By contrast,
Nevelson achieves something like suppleness in Sky Cathedral by her use of
multiple layers and multiple new spaces that emerge from different vantage points.
From the Attic Greek to the Augustan age brings one to the Imperial Procession,
located on the North frieze of the Ara Pacis Augustae (Fig. 4). The first two
sculptures put into conversation with Sky Cathedral were mortuary, but the
Imperial Procession is celebratory. The first two are both smaller than four feet, but
the Procession is life sized, so its visual force is thus magnified. Finally, the
individuals therein are not idealized types, in contrast to earlier Greek modes of
statuary they naturalistic depictions of many actual people in the line of the
Caesars. The Ara Pacis took four years to build, due to its desired scale and quality,
and that scale points to a salient evolution from the Greeks to the Romans. Riegl
claimed this vector went from what he call[ed] the haptic objectivism of the Greeks
the delineation of the clarity of the object through an appeal to and a stimulation of
the tactile associations of the viewer to the optical objectivism of Roman art, in which
the need to set the figure up in space as radically

The Government As An Intermediate Agency
The government is an intermediate agency which has the main, though by no means
the exclusive, responsibility for society s adherence to the principles which favour
increased autonomy and respect for people s choices.
When one thinks about the work of governments throughout history, they look like
extremely obnoxious, or at least dangerous, artefacts, for which the need, and,
consequently, the conditions and limits, require moral justification. The mere fact that
the government prescribes something to us does not morally justify our doing it
(though it may prudentially justify it, and therefore, in some cases it may morally
excuse it). The decision to obey a government must be an autonomous one one that,
like any decision which can affect other people, we should justify on the basis of a
freely accepted moral principle. But if this is so, to what extent are we really
obeying the government and not simply governing ourselves? And if the moral
person always governs himself, what, for him, is the moral relevance of having a
government (besides solving co ordination problems or altering the factual setting)?
The era of wars and terrorism was followed by segregation, racial sub ordination, and
complacence. One report written by senior civil servants in 1934 for the Department
of Health actually suggested that the eugenics policies of the Nazi Germany should be
adopted in the UK. In 1927 Westminster passed the Mental Deficiency Act giving the
authorities wide powers to detain

Napoleon s Influence On The French Revolution
Napoleon had many impacts on the French Revolution between 1797 and 1815, due
to his commanding of his military. Napoleon had many Political, and Military
impacts on the French revolution. Military general and first emperor of France,
Napoleon Bonaparte was born on August 15, 1769, in Ajaccio, Corsica, France. One
of the most celebrated leaders in the history of the West, he revolutionised military
organization and training, sponsored Napoleonic Code, reorganised education and
established the long lived Concordat with the papacy. He died on May 5, 1821, on
the island of St. Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean. Some of his political impacts
that Napoleon had on France between 1797 and 1815 was his ability to overthrow the

He did this to raise funds towards his military campaigns. During these years,
Napoleon reestablished a French aristocracy, that was eliminated during the
French revolution, and began handing out titles of nobility to his loyal friends and
family as his empire continued to expand across much of western and central
continental Europe. He did this so he didn t have to manage all of his armies
/colonies at once, and could therefore manage his main army on all of his
conquests. As far as political and civil liberties were concerned, Napoleon largely
suppressed them with strict censorship and the establishment of a virtual police
state in order to protect his power. However, Napoleon saw equality as a politically
useful concept that he could maintain with little threat to his position. After all,
everyone, at least all men, were equally under his power. One of his main
accomplishments as a ruler was the establishment of the Napoleonic Civil Law
Codes, which made all men equal under the law while maintaining their legal power
over women. Therefore, any hopes women may have had of the Revolution
improving their legal position were thwarted by Napoleon. Napoleon saw
nationalism as crucial to maintaining the loyalty of the French people to his regime.
After all, it was the spirit of nationalism that had inspired its armies in a remarkable
series of victories that had especially benefited Napoleon and allowed his

Postmodernism And Modernism In Catch 22
Regarding the plot of the novel, Catch 22 follows the experiences of Captain
Yossarian, a bombardier in the Mediterranean theater of World War II in 1944, who
flies missions from the island of Pianosa over targets in Italy and France. He is
surrounded by a huge cast of colourful and often weird characters, who are intended
to satirize not only military life but life in any large institution. They include Doc
Daneeka, the base medical officer who is more concerned with his own problems than
with those of his patients; Lieutenant Milo Minderbinder, the mess officer who uses
his connections to build a massive commercial empire that includes dealing with the
enemy and who is the culmination of the business forces In war environment.; Major

The characteristics include the use of irony, playfulness, metafiction, and black
humour. It is the term used to suggest a reaction or response to modernism in the late
twentieth century. So postmodernism can only be understood in relation to
Modernism. Postmodernism describes both an era and a broad movement that
developed in the late 20th century across philosophy, the arts, architecture and
criticism which marked a departure from modernism. At its core, Postmodernism
rejects that which Modernism champions. While postmodernism seems very much
like modernism in many ways, it differs from modernism in its attitude toward a lot
of these trends. Modernism, for example, tends to present a fragmented view of
human subjectivity and history, but presents that fragmentation as something tragic,
something to be lamented and mourned as a loss. Postmodernism, in contrast, doesn t
lament the idea of fragmentation, but rather celebrates it. In literature, it used to
describe certain characteristics of post World War II literature, for example, on
fragmentation, paradox, questionable narrators, etc. and a reaction against
Enlightenment ideas implicit in Modernist

bedridden patient with bed sores/pressure ulcer on the bony parts of the body, such

1.) Introduction
This case analysis looks at the two primary problems at the receiving plant no. 1 (RP
1) faced by National Cranberry Cooperative during the cranberry harvesting period,
viz. 1) too much waiting period for trucks before they unload berries at the RP1
and 2) too much overtime costs. There is also a secondary problem regarding
grading of process berries. Half of the berries graded top quality are actually not top

One more category in between 2A and 3 can also made having a lesser premium than

like increased final processing cost and resentment from the farmers.
5.) Decreasing the truck waiting time
The main problem that the receiving plant is facing is that the trucks have to wait a
lot particularly in the peak season before they can unload the berries. This cope up
with the problem the cooperative installed an additional Kiwanee Dumper last year
(i.e. 1969) but that didn t help in solving the problem.
We first analyze the average truck waiting time for the next year with present
capacities and assuming 70% to be wet berries and rest dry.
As the wet berry processing would take lesser time if it bulk packed, we assume that
during the peak season the wet berries are only bulk packed and dry berries are bag
packed.
Assuming a berry arrival of 18,000 bbl in a day (7am to 7pm) in the peak season at a
constant rate and , the average wet berry arrival rate would be (18000/12) * (70/100)
= 1050 bbls per day and dry berry arrival rate would be 450 bbls per day.
.
With the processing starting at 11 am , the holding bins will continue to be filled at
this rate subject to the maximum capacities for wet berries (3200 bbls) and dry
berries (4000 bbls). The bins capable of holding wet berries would be

Moment Of Conception
What has made you the person you are? A question then naturally occurs and it is a
question that many are afraid to ask. The question stands, did God author the
events that would shape me into the person I am? The reason most people do not
want to consider this question is because this includes the good and the bad
circumstances of our lives. Most people have something in their life that they wish
they could change. Some would change a conversation they didn t have or perhaps
the words they should not have spoken. Either way life deals us blows and years,
even decades after we can look at these events and ponder how they have changed us.

Theme Of Racism In A Lesson Before Dying
In his 1940 based novel, A Lesson Before Dying, Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of
Grant Wiggins, an educated African American school teacher in Louisiana who is
constantly faced with racial injustice and inequality in his community. Wiggins is
given the challenge of turning a young convicted convict, Jefferson, into a mature,
confident man before his last day on Earth. Gaines exemplifies racism, educationand
religion throughout the novel. From the very beginning, when Jefferson is
convicted for a murder he did not commit, and all throughout the novel, prejudice
is present. The most inherent racism in the trial comes from Jefferson s defense
attorney. While arguing for Jefferson s release he states, What you see here is a
thing that acts on command. A thing to hold the handle of a plow, a thing to load
your bales of cotton, a thing to dig your ditches, to chop your wood, to pull your
corn (Gaines 8). This description of Jefferson strongly resembles that of a slave. The
attorney undoubtedly is racist and tries to defend Jefferson in the murder case by
depicting him as incapable of planning a murder. He argues that Jefferson deserves
mercy on the grounds that he is more similar to a hog than to a man. This statement
not only shatters the bit of dignity Jefferson has but also devastates his godmother,
Miss Emma. Grant agrees to Miss Emma s request that he educate Jefferson because
he wants Jefferson to the fight racism in their community. As Grant tells Jefferson,

The Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass Essay
Bishnu Mahat Term paper Frederick Douglass In the 1800 s, subjection was a
significant issue in the United States. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass reveals much about American history in the midst of the period of
servitude and outlines conflicts for the cancelation of subjection. As a chronicled
report, it goes on data about the slave family, work, the master slave relationship, and
the treatment and living states of slaves. As an abolitionist tract, it fights against
recognizable methods for pondering subjection s favorable circumstances and its
moral quality, making strong centers for discarding subjugation. Slave families were
much of the time torn isolated by the expert secluding them. Frederick Douglass was
the essential slave to stand transparently and report his fugitive status. He was the
individual who participate in securing the invalidation of suppression and fairness of
African American over his exercises, rationalities, speakers, creator/chief, and
government official. Each and every through hi account, he portrays his own specific
genuine encounters, as they truly happened. Douglass contentions against the
appalling establishment of persecution are presented in the depicting these
encounters. Douglass could see his mom just a few times before she went on when
he was a particularly fiery age. Whatever is left of his family was in addition dead
or far away, and he had no believability of unendingly watching them once more.

Resident Advisor Responsibilities
The three most frequent and major responsibilities for a successful Resident Advisor
are availability, communication, and awareness. Availability, being there when your
residents need it, is important because it presents you as someone that they can rely
on and who will always be there when they need it. Communication, creating an
environment where both myself and the residentsare comfortable sharing questions
and concerns, is important because the only way to assist a residentis to know what s
going on and without communication you will not know what your residents need.
Awareness, knowing what is happening around you, is important because there will

that they shouldn t be.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are both vital in creating a feeling of community and comfort within the
residence halls. Connecting with residents is difficult because an RA has to find a
happy medium somewhere between an authority figure and a friend. Availability
and communication are important parts to this distinction because the more time
residents can spend around and with you, the more they get to know you as a
person and the more they understand your duties as an RA. For me personally, I
think these responsibilities will fall mostly within my normal day to day life.
Within the dorms I like to keep my door propped open, which I think would make
me much more approachable to residents walking by. I also like to make sure I
acknowledge everyone I see around campus, and this would be especially true with
the residents in my hall. It always brightens my day a bit whenever someone takes
the time out of their day to just say hello, and I think that s true for a lot of

Protest Music And Social Protest
For many centuries, music has been an unwavering force in society, offering
entertainment for various ceremonies and events, while also providing an outlet for
creative expression. Most people appreciate the entertainment factor music possesses,
but fail to realize the power music has to influence social change. One way music
inspires social changeis through protest songs. Most songwriters agree that protest
songs are written because circumstances demand engagement and things can no
longer be left unsaid (Haslam). A vital element in a plethora of movements from
decades past and present, protest songs are commonly recognized for playing a
fundamental part in empowering the oppressed, promoting commitment, and drawing
attention from those outside of a movement s target demographic. According to
Deena Weinstein, Sociologyprofessor from DePaul University, protest songs are
defined by the virtue of their words, but many make their impact in tandem with their
sonic elements, the emotionality of the music, the strength and confidence of the
vocals, or their simplicity and repetitive phrases, which allow the audience to sing
along (Peddie, 4). This extraordinary method of rebuttal typically allows a community
of individuals with a common goal to use a universal language music to stand up
against social injustices, and it was particularly vital during the labor movement.
Specifically studying the American labor movement that was remarkably prominent
during the 19th and 20th

Meaning Of Harm
To have a genuine of the meaning of harm , it is simply something that causes
someone to be hurt. Although, the harm created that is usually harmful to people,
can very likely be harmful to the environment, as well. The principle that prevents
harming others is linked to the idea of environmental protection and the safety of
people involved. Despite the fact, in both environmental protection, and product and
worker safety cases, there is often the possibility of people justifiably accepting
some harm for greater good, and especially of accepting the risk of some possible
harm for the attainment of some assured good. (DeGeorge, 272) Harm is undeniably
something to pay close attention to but it can vary between countries, times and

Liability for one s actions means that one can rightly be made to pay for the
adverse effects of one s actions on others. (DeGeorge, 104) Liability does not
necessarily involve moral responsibility for the action taking place, although. Strict
liability stresses that there is no excusing conditions that are accepted or
applicable. It is the responsibility placed on somebody who did not act negligently.
For example, consider selling a product that has defective problems. You did not
intentionally make it defective but you are held liable for it, even though the seller
did not intend to have it defective. Corporate liability is different because it is
formed to limit the liability of shareholders. It determines the extent to how much
they are liable for, unlike strict liability. The corporation can be punished or
prosecuted if actions were done for benefits, results from negligence, or due to lack

Tattooing in Samoa
Introduction: why does this matter? Origin story and meaning The Samoans are an
ethnic group that reside in Oceania, on the islands of Samoa, in an area of
Polynesia. Samoa has been occupied by these indigenous people for about 3000
years, when they came from the west, occupying the islands of Fiji and Tonga
around the same time (Barnes and Hunt 2005, 243). They carry many traditions with
their culture, however, I will be discussing their tradition of tattooing. Tattooing is
the process of inserting ink pigment into someone s skin to create a permanent
design on them. For Samoans, tattoos are much more significant than just a pretty
piece of artwork, they are, according to Ryman (2004), a right of passage. I will be
reviewing the importance of cultural tattoos, the process of being tattooed, and the
varying origin stories of how tattooing first came to Samoa. Samoan tattooing matters
because it is a cultural tradition that has been practiced in Samoa for over 3000 years
(Ellis 2006, 698).
Demographics:
Samoa is divided into two, separate nations, The Independent State of Samoa
(referred to as Samoa) and Territory of American Samoa (referred to as American
Samoa). Samoa, formerly known as Western Samoa, is an independent nation based
on a unitary parliamentary democracy, which consists of a legislative, executive, and
judiciary branch (Government of Samoa). Samoa is made up of two, main islands,

Preprocessing Data
Preprocessing is actually a trail to improve text classification by removing worthiness
information. In our work document preprocessing involve removing punctuation
marks, numbers, words written in another language, normalize the documents by
(replace the letter ( Ш Ј ШҐ Шў ) with (Ш§ ), replace the letter (Ш Ў Ш¤ ) with (
Ш§), and replace the letter( Щ‰ ) with ( Ш§). Finally removing the stop words,
which are words that can be found in any text like prepositions and pronouns. The
rest of words are returned and are referred to as keywords or features. The number of
these features is usually large for large documents and therefore some filtering can be
applied to these features to reduce their number and remove redundant features.
Features Extraction
Text is categorized by two types of features, external and internal. External features
are not related to the content of the text, such as author name, publication date, author
gender, and so on. Internal features reflect the text content and are mostly linguistic
features, such as lexical items and grammatical categories[www]. In our work,
words were treated as a feature on three levels: using a bag of words form, word stem
, in which the suffix and prefix were removed and word root. With all these features
we need to extract and generates the frequency list of the dataset features (single
words) and save it in a training file.

Racism In Friday Night Lights
Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights
(2015) and was intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here.
Odessa held onto its racial ideologies for much longer than it should have, even
with Federal lawsuits against them (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg.
227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted upon that they still were intact even
after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of Odessa had been and
continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town where the
blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white
citizens. The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the
divider for this segregation, or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of
the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99). The physical separation wasn t the only
racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were both quite underrepresented
in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body (Bissinger, 2015;
pg. 175). The black population of Odessa seemed to get the blunt end of the racial
stigma though, which is especially seen at the beginning of chapter 5 with the use

though the citizens of Odessa even went as far as shooting a gun inside a bar at one
point. The player s drinking had become bad enough that an anonymous letter

David Blaine Accomplishments
The 39 year old magician, David Blaine, pushed the limits of the human scale one
more time and shocked audiences with his new stunt Electrified: One Million
Volts Always On . Once again, he challenged his audience to question the definition

surrounded by seven Tesla coils for 73 hours without food or sleep. The
performance took place on Pier 54 in New York City, October 5th through 8th. It
was open to the audience and was free of charge. The combination of endurance,
science, music, beautiful lightening, and live interaction made this experience
truly inspirational and magical. David Blaine took magic to another level in a
unique way; he transitioned close up street magic into an endurance art. Bill

Essay On Government Surveillance
Abstract
You are under surveillance right now. Everything that you search, and everywhere
that you go is being recorded and stored in a private corporation s warehouse, sitting
and waiting for it to be recalled and analyzed. In the past, information was much
more difficult to come by. Files were only made on individuals that have been
identified as suspects. Now with the help of personal laptops, cellphones and modern
technology, being watched has become so much simpler. No one is exempt from the
surveillance state that we live in today, and our freedom is paying the price.
Why do we have it? That s a question that crosses everyone minds. The people who

Governments want more power:
Government power is increasing on the Internet. There is more government
surveillance than ever before. There is more government censorship than ever before.
There is more government propaganda, and an increasing number of governments are
controlling what their users can and cannot do on the Internet. Totalitarian
governments are embracing a growing cyber sovereignty movement to further
consolidate their power. And the cyberwar arms race is on, pumping an enormous
amount of money into cyber weapons and consolidated cyber defenses, further
increasing government power.
Protection against terrorism:
The argument used by governments and other organizations is that to protect us
from terrorist they must watch our habits on and offline. At a quick glance, it seems
to make sense. Especially with the if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to

Essay on Art Formal Analysis
Art Formal Analysis Examining the formal qualities of Homer Watson s painting
Horse and Rider In A Landscape was quite interesting. I chose to analyze this piece
as apposed to the others because it was the piece I liked the least, therefore making
me analyze it more closely and discover other aspects of the work, besides aesthetics.
The texture of the canvas works very well with the subject matter portrayed in the
painting. The grassy hill side and the leaves of the trees are especially complimented
by the canvas. It makes the leaves feel like they are slightly moving, this combined
with the lack of detail itself the leaves. This is contrasted nicely with the very
detailed renderings of the trunks and branches of the trees, the ... Show more content

Perspective lines occur also in the background of the painting in the upper right in the
trees getting smaller as they descend into the painting. This painting is an example of
linear perspective. All lines converge at a vanishing point.
At first sight the house in the middle ground appears to be the destination of the rider,
but the use of linear perspective suggests that something else is important beyond the
house and the green hill.
This painting appears to take place either at either dusk or dawn, when the sun is at
the horizon. Likely it is dusk, as the setting appears to be in the Northern
Hemisphere and the snow in the picture residing on the left hand side of fence
would suggest it has yet to melt, so the sun would be setting in the west, or on the
right. So the viewer, as well as the subject, is facing south. This affects the painting
in several ways. The lighting is very dramatic, the middle ground being very much
more lighted than the foreground and background, therefore the colors are more
saturated than the foreground and background. Greens, browns and greys are used a
lot in this piece and makes it very muddy. The house really does stand out against the
painting because of the contrast of lighting.
The piece is pretty balanced, it is more or less partitioned into four parts by the
strong horizontal line in the middle and the road meeting with the edge of the forest
vertically, the lighter areas in the top right and bottom left,

Vlad and a small band of men were ambushed and Vlad was killed. Little else is
known about Vlad s death except that the Turks decapitated him. His head was sent

Vlad is remembered best for his vicious actions but there are some differences in
the way people view him. There are several stories, which some sources take more

His eyebrows were massive almost meeting over the nose, and with bushy hair that
seemed to curl in its own profusion. The mouth, so far as I could see it under the

teeth. These protruded over the lips, whose remarkable ruddiness showed
astonishing vitality in a man of his years. For the rest, his ears were pale and the

Telework Case
With the use of technology increasing substantially as well as with the new
generation who relies on such technology, telework has become the future of work.
Companies embrace and adopt telecommunicating practices, as the benefits are clear.
For this reason, telework was chosen as a project to be implemented in the business
in order to gain profit and in turn reduce turnover. Berkeley College conducted a
comprehensive program that analyzed companies such as AT T. This study was

Telecommuting requires little investment compared to the projected return on the
project. Though financially it seems that implementing telecommuting is a positive
investment, the Blue Apron company is still relatively small and new compared to
other larger companies such as AT T who have implemented telework into their
company. This means that are certain precautions that the company should take prior
to investing. The recommendations are that in making decisions about which
employees will be designated for telework. Companies should review their quality of
work of the employee and their productivity levels. Telework can be said to increase
productivity of the employees, but it is possible that if telecommuting put into place
that the quality of the employees work could begin to suffer. Furthermore, it is
imperative to ensure that their positions are appropriate. For instance,
telecommunicating would best serve data processing tasks, bookkeeping, or
accounting jobs. For positions within the Blue Apron company that are more geared
towards collaboration and innovation as telecommunicating can lead to isolation in
the workplace because it can create a barrier between teams, one that in the traditional
workplace is not present. Also, make sure that smaller start up companies wait until
they have had continuous profit growth for

The Life and Writings of Robert Louis Stevenson

novels, as it is meant for a younger group of readers. However, this does not take
away from the story if one just takes it for what it is. Jim Hawkins, the protagonist
of the story, is a character so full of courage and determination that he is
undoubtedly the inspiration behind many young lads adventurous escapades. His
character, although lifted off the pages of a book, is the character that many
people aspire to be. Stevenson does not give much information about Jim through
dialogue or commentary, but through Jim s actions do we learn of the content of
his character. Jim is the moral backbone of the story, and must right the wrong that
Silver creates. The only downside to Jim s character is that he judges people by
their appearances when first meeting him, and he usually judges wrong. He
incorrectly judges Long John Silver as an ally at first even though he ends up
being the story s main antagonist. Also, he incorrectly judges Ben Gunn as being a
monster, although he turns out to be one of his greatest allies. Jim s character is
resilient and is not likely to break as best exemplified in his quote You can kill the
body, Mr. Hands, but not the spirit (Stevenson 116). Since Stevenson was sickly as a
child and not able to do much physical activity, I think that he lives vicariously

The Princess And The Frog Essay
Fairy tales are timeless entities that will always be relevant in people s lives. Fairy
tales and stories offer entertainment, advice, and moral examples. The creation of
fairy tales is important in the development of social norms. Children everywhere
would read fairy tales and learn from them. As a result, these fairy tales are translated
into multiple languages and allows people with different backgrounds to understand
and relate to the story. People take these stories and adapt them to life around them.
Within these adaptations of the same story, it is normal to observe slight differences
that contribute as evidence in identifying the culture or societies in which these
stories come from. Whether it is the slang of the dialogue or the change of location,
modern producers and writers are known to take these classic stories and adding a
significant twist to adjust to their cultural agenda. The movie, The Princess and the
Frog, is a modern example of writers and directors creating a modern twist to the
popular story of the Brother Grimm s The Frog King. The Princess and the Frog and
The Frog King both encode the mores, values, and beliefs of the cultures of the
societies from which they come because, even though they both have similar plot
ideas, the differences of the location and the differences of the overall specific
plotlines attribute to understanding how their own specific cultures influence the
adaptation and the actual story. The Princess and the Frog is a Disney

International Tourism s Effect On Medical Tourism
Introduction In this paper, I will evaluate Hallyu in regards to its effect on medical
tourism. However, I will first define the terms in order to give a clearer picture of
what is Hallyu and which medical tourism I am referring too. Hallyu is defined as
the growing popularity of Korean based products that include drama, film, and pop
music (Kim). It is also used to describe the fast spreading popularity of Korean
culture like food, clothing, and housing. Recently, Hallyu or Korean Wavehas not just
swept over Asia, but also Middle East, Africa, and America. Out of all sector,
medical tourism is one of the biggest areas that received big impacts from Hallyu.
Medical tourism is defined as the process of travelling outside residency country...

In fact, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi admits that Bae Yon joon, the
lead actor of the series is more famous than him (Lee). These forces develop
interests for non Korean to engage with Korean lifestyle (Kim). It fosters them to try
eating Korean food, learning their language, and dressing like Korean to an extent
that Hallyu is cultivated in their daily routine (Hae Joang 147 150).
Hallyu has highlighted medical tourism through the representation of celebrities
on screen and paper in which they are portrayed to have a perfect looking skin. For
example, in dramas like Boys over Flower, all characters including the unfortunate
one s are portrayed to have that flawless and impeccable looks (Glynn, Basil, and
Kim 1 2). This set a high beauty standard for the viewers to attain. They are willing
to spend a lot of money to travel to South Korea just to find out the secret and truth
about Korean beauty. Then, plastic surgery becomes a known and popular alternative
for them to achieve that dream. The industry booms even farther after knowing that
cosmetic surgery is common for Korean people. International Society of Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) reports that there would be a person out of every five
people that undergo plastic surgery in Korea based on 100,000 of Korea s general
population (Eun). In 2010, the number of non Korean patients is only 82,000,
however, in 2016 the number increases to 400,000 (Arirang TV).

Spring Is Right Around The Corner, And It s Time
Spring is right around the corner, and it s time to start thinking about the
gardening. Whether it be flower beds or a vegetable garden, all your hard work in
the beginning will set you up for an enjoyable summer. Here a few different types
of beds that you may want to try. Raised concrete block vegetable garden You may
ask yourself why you would want a raised concrete garden? Concrete blocks absorb
the heat all day long and maintain the root heat long into the night, warm roots
have produce many more vegetables for me. You need to measure your space and
take this into consideration when planning your new project. The cost may seem
expensive at first, but remember these blocks will last you a life time, so it is
more than likely a one time purchase. I make my concrete block two blocks high,
spread out plastic, line the bottom with rocks that I gather through out the yard or
wood line, these are used for proper drainage. Fill with dirt, fertilizer and soil
nutrients and plant your plants. You can put a decorative spin on the blocks by
painting them, paint them a plain color or show your artist side and do a mural.
What ever you do make it uniquely yours. You will be so surprised how much
more you yield after putting together this garden, It actually doubled what I usually
get. Patio Garden If a huge garden is not your thing, how about a small patio garden?
You can do a very manageable, easy to care for garden right on your deck. Here are
some tips if you decide to do

Gregor The Overlander By Suzanne Collins Essay
I m reading Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins. This book is full of
excitement and adventure. This is a book that I know I can read. Gregor is a book
that I like because when the rats talk they are trying to speak how humans speak. But
they sound different. They can t put sentences together,so you as the reader have to
rearrange the words to make them sound right.
Gregor is really good book. So far Gregor and Boots have fallen into a hole in the
wall, down to the underworld . They have met Luxa, Vikus, and roaches and rats.
They have made Gregor king. I have a question about them being done there. Is no
one looking for them? Because they are obviously not trying to get back home.
That just gets me really confused and they haven t talked about it. They don t seem
like they are trying to find a way home. Next when they see all of the bugs down
there they don t seem scared so it doesn t seem real. So I just wanted to know why
they didn t make it more realistic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luxa purposely ran her fingers up under Boots s chin, making her laugh. For a
second, Luxa lost her attitude, and Gregor thought she might not be so bad. (
Collins, 31) The explicit information in this passage is that Luxa is making Boots
laugh by tickling her. The implicit information is that they re having fun,and Luxa
is showing a side that they didn t introduce at the beginning of the story. A
prediction I can make from the passage is that Luxa will change her attitude in the
next book or at the end of this book. It was just the nine of them. Gregor felt like all
the grown ups had gone home and left the kids with a rat for a babysitter. The explicit
details are that he doesn t feel good and the children are with the rats. The implicit
details are that Gregor doesn t feel comfortable leaving his sister with a babysitter
that is a rat. My prediction is that he s just going to leave it alone because the other
grown ups don t see it as a huge

Women in European History
Women and Communal Strikes in the Crisis of 1917 1922 An interesting fact
concerning the protests by working class in the period during and succeeding WWI
was not initial demands for revolutionary change or worker s rights, but instead
forcing government to provide basic life necessities of food and shelter during times
of rationing. Though there were differences in geography and outcomes, the goal was
the same in demanding survival over social and economic change. The politicization
of these movements did not occur until their male counterparts, who did hold
memberships in unions and radical political groups, sympathized with their female
equivalents and participated in these marches did violence or government
crackdowns occur. It was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally after days passed and attempts to appease them, women fed up along with
male workers managed to put the city on hold due to massive walkouts. The initial
goal of obtaining food morphed into anti war demonstrations that caused the
government to send in military to violently subdued the crowd. While it maintained
neutrality from the war, Spanish economy still relied on feeding foreign armies
which distraught the women of Malaga. They lacked political aspirations and
knowledge, yet in January 1918 acted upon female consciousness to counter the
unfair economic policies on food. Seizing the port, the food stored there was
distributed it amongst themselves. These women actually spoke out against the
involvement of men due to fears of violent crackdowns. Eventually women of all
social classes joined in as they saw the march as a demonstration for women s right.
Like the outcome of the events in Turin, military from different regions of the nation
were called in to suppress the strike. The main reason behind it was if local troops
were used their familiarity and common cultural background would elicit sympathy
for the women. Finally five years later in Veracruz, Mexico, women protested against
unfair housing prices, which was already a limited commodity in the coastal port city.

Abbasid Caliphate Research Paper
The Abbasid Caliphate ruled between the years of 750 to 1254 C.E. During this 495
year ruling, the Islamic community reached an enormous level of intelligence that
never been witnessed in Caliphate before. The Abbasid caliphate became to power
because of the negligence of the Umayyad Caliphate to the Islamic people. When the
Abbasid Caliphate came into power they moved the Islamic capital from Damascus to
Khoda dad. They borrowed and mixed their political and institutions with the
Persians. During this time, great revolutions occurred such as; literature, law,
theology, mysticism, philosophy, math, and science. This was the first Caliphate that

In such a huge continent, it may seem unreal that Islam had also had a huge influence
on the people. What Muslims brought to the table that Europe wasn t really good at
was innovation in medicine. The Abbasid Caliphate was the first to want to spread
the knowledge they had to the regions around them. They had one of these most
educated professionals and these people such as doctors influenced Latin America.
Their ideas and techniques were acquired by the Europeans and they tried to
replicate what the Muslims were doing. These ideas dominated Latin Europe in the
medical standpoint. The writing concepts of Hippocrates, Galen, Rhazes, and
Avicenna became widely accepted and diffused in western Europe. By the fourth
century, the work of these writers, among others, dominated the medical curriculum
at the universities of Montpellier and Bologna, Avicenna says in the fourth of the
Fractures, three hundred and twenty five years as they gloss it there, but in truth
there were five hundred and eighty six years. The influence of Islamic medicine
teaches and ideas lead the Europeans to improve on the medical field. Without the
help of the Islamic people in Europe, there can be speculations that it would not
have gotten out of the dark ages. With the help of Muslims, Europe was able to
cognitively educate themselves with the works of the Muslims doctors and begin
new medical revolutions that were one of their key way to exit the dark

The Case Of William Marbury Deserved The Commission
Or Not
This case was a case for the ages that challenged the very decision of our newly
elected president. The former President Adam after a grueling election has lost and in
order to maintain the legacy of the Federalist, he began to appoint justices to the
Supreme Court. These judges were appointed by the president and confirmed by the
Senate, but unfortunately for these justices, the letters that confirmed the
appointment never reached the potential justices. Adams was working quickly to
push the appointments through, but unfortunately he ran out of time and Jefferson
took office. Jefferson saw the appointment letters on his desk and discarded them.
One of the potential justices was William Marbury and he sued the president for his
Supreme Court appointment. His goal was to have the court to order a writ of
mandamus, which if completed, would order a government official to fulfil their
official duties. The Chief justice presented three questions that needed to be decided
by the court. The first issue addressed was whether William Marbury deserved the
commission or not. The court opened the questioned if the law had a remedy for the
situation. The final question was whether the writ of mandamus the appropriate legal
action in the case. These questions were debated and the court confirmed that
Marbury deserved the commission, but they found that the Judiciary Act of 1789
which allowed the court to submit the very writ of mandamus Marbury needed was
unconstitutional. According

Hungarian Revolution of 1956
Causes such as poverty, Soviet power, and change of Hungarian life ultimately led to
the primary uprising known as the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. This event not
only portrayed the initial precursor of instability, but also rebellion inside the Soviet
Iron Curtain. The Hungarian Revolution of 1956 included effects such as a massive
decrease in the global Communist party, an increase of the policy Containment in the
Western Hemisphere, and polarization of the Cold War. In the Hungarian Revolution
of 1956, The U.S.S.R. principle of peaceful negotiation greatly faltered due to the
Soviet practice of intervention and immense destruction of the Hungarian people.

George Zhukov stated that We should withdraw troops from Budapest, and if
necessary withdraw from Hungary as a whole. This is a lesson for us in the military
political sphere (Stambrook et al). They accepted a Declaration of the Government of
the USSR on the Principles of Development and Further Strengthening of Friendship
and Cooperation between the Soviet Union and other Socialist States. This document
proclaimed: The Soviet Government is prepared to enter into the appropriate
negotiations with the government of the Hungarian People s Republic and other
members of the Warsaw Treaty on the question of the presence of Soviet troops on
the territory of Hungary (Stambrook et al). Zhukov s principle did not match with
his practice. Although the declaration was set to begin peaceful relations with
Hungary, Zhukov could not risk losing a stronghold in the Soviet Iron Curtain. He
ordered Soviet forces to invade Budapest in order to not lose grip upon the Iron
Curtain. He knew the consequences would be vast if word of revolution had broken
out, against Soviet reign. Zhukov did not want to lose Hungary as a sphere of
influence.

This Side Of Paradise Analysis
This Side of Paradise describes the struggling life of Amory Blaine from having
great fun until he became of age to discover the world and experienced different life
problems towards how he has changed. In this book, it really expresses the true
nature of F. Scott Fitzgerald towards his writing and including the use of allusions,
personification, shift in plot, and great imageries to show the way the character
Amory has been progressing and also facing his challenges.
. During the book, it really explains and describes an allusion of the time during the
World War 1 where Amory himself had been sent to war; but the side note would be
that the actual explanation of details of the war weren t really shown since the plot
was mostly concerned to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seasonal and nature imagery are used in the novel in order to enhance the way the
reader could be imagining how everything is set and feel as though there are in the
book. In the book the way Fitzgerald uses the presence of season and times is to
explain a change of mood of a person in the book, in which characterizes their
actions in life. For an example in the book Eleanor distinguishes summer from
spring in her statement that Summer has no day...We can t possibly have a
summer love...Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring, a charlatan in
place of the warm balmy nights I dream of in April. It s a sad season of life without
growth (173). While spring is seen as the upcoming birth of life around the world,
summer is the opposite which is decay and loss which is shown throughout the
book. An example of the utilization of nature imagery is in Amory s observation of
nature, in which he describes it as composed largely of flowers that, when closely
inspected, appeared moth eaten, and of ants that endlessly traversed blades of
grass, [the scene] was always disillusioning (211). This quote really amplifies
imagery where Fitzgerald is really explaining the perspective of age and how
things can be quite different up close than seeing it from afar. When looking at
what he has written, for example moth eaten, he shows that it was quite beaten and
ugly or weird than what an eye can see at a distance. And ants endlessly traverse
blades of grass, shows the construction of growing up with responsibilities and
always moving the gears. When Fitzgerald was using this type of imagery in the
book when there was a change in Amory s life, was because he wanted to show in
what way Amory was seeing life as and how he was living as well to keep going
and finding a way to complete his happiness after there was only sadness in his life
while adapting to his surroundings, while being at the top at first

Summary Of If Hitler Asked You
After reading If Hitler asked you I was astonished to read that the experiment where
participants electrocuted an individual was intense. I can t even imagine being
asked to inflict that kind of intense pain to another human. I understand that
everyone can state that in the beginning and over time their moral compass may
change. Meyer realized that many of his participants were able to inflict even the
more severe voltages past 15 volts like 435 and 450. I found it interesting the
difference between the Yale students and Bridgeport because Yale students were
more obedient. Was it because of how they were raised not to question authority like
The U.S upper class stated or was because of their moral compasses? Also, I thought
it was interesting

Essay about St. Francis And The Franciscan Admonitions
St. Francis and the Franciscan Admonitions
Francis of Assisi was born in 1181, and was taught to read and write in Latin as a
young boy. In 1205 Francis had a vision; this vision was interpreted to be a message
from God to repair the church. After renouncing all of his belongings and receiving
blessings from the pope, Francis set out to preach with his new order of monks,
known as the Franciscans. To preserve the religious vocations of his brothers, Francis
created the Admonitions. They were written during the foundational period of the
Franciscan order. The Admonitions are instructions created to emphasize important
virtues such as obedience, poverty, and humility.
In Perfect and Imperfect Obedience Francis speaks of the Lord s ... Show more

The poor in spirit are those who are conscious of their sins and know in their hearts
that they are completely unworthy of the grace that God pours down upon them.
Being lost and filled with sin. The kingdom of heaven is theirs because they readily
confess to God that they are unworthy.
In chapters The Humble Religious , Compassion for One s Neighbor , and Patience
Francis main focus is on the virtues of humility and obedience towards one s
acquaintance. Those with humility seek to discover what others have to offer. They
are intrigued by how others think, and how others feel differently from them. One
should not expect more from his neighbor than that of what he himself offers to
God. Patience can be defined as one s ability to endure delay or remain calm when
faced with difficulty. A man has as much patience as he does then and no more . As
written in Francis Admonitions Patience , patience can only be tested when one is in
a situation of discomfort and hardship .
Another chapter in Admonitions is Good Works Must Follow Knowledge. In this
chapter Francis gives a deeper explanation to Saint Paul s the letter kills, but the
spirit gives life . As Saint Paul s explanation can seem vague, Francis gives us a more
understanding viewpoint. The letter alone brings condemnation to the person who
rejects it. However, when the Spirit in a person s heart accompanies this letter,

The Psychological Effects of War Exposed in The Sniper by...
The Psychological Effects of War Exposed in The Sniper, by Liam O Flaherty War
can destroy a man both in body and mind for the rest of his life. In The Sniper,
Liam O Flaherty suggests the horror of war not only by presenting its physical
dangers, but also by showing its psychological effects. We are left to wonder which
has the longer lasting effect the visible physical scars or the ones on the inside? In
this story the author shows how location plays a big part in how physically
dangerous a waris. Gunshots heard throughout the city are a sign of how close the
fighting between the Republicans and Free Staters... is to innocent citizens (this is
most often the case in civil war). The sniper s positioning on a rooftop near... Show

The sniper brushes with death again when he throws his revolver down without
thinking and it goes off. Bullets make a war very deadly, as they are much more
precise than earlier and much simpler weapons (such as swords and muskets). The
psychological effects of war bring on a very different aspect of horror. The sniper
becomes quite fanatical about his job in the war. He gets very excited over the thrill
of the kill, turning his job into a game. His hand trembled with eagerness as he was
trying to shoot the enemy sniper, showing the intense excitement he felt. He has such
a lust for battle that he even stops eating! The sniper also begins to see all others as
the enemy the woman in the shawl, an innocent citizen, is seen as an enemy to him
because she tipped off the tank commander (which she probably did for her own
safety). War has psychologically changed the sniper to refer to all others not on
his side as the enemy. The sniper develops insensitivity to death during the war.
When he kills the old woman, she s trying to run away and isn t really a threat. He
even utters a cry of joy when he finally shoots the enemy sniper. This shows how
war can get people caught up in the cat and mouse game aspect of it and forget what
they re actually doing killing people. People get so caught up in the game that they
don t think about the repercussions for their actions. War is dangerous; however it
does more than injure you

Spread of Buddhism in China Essay
It is believed that Buddhism spread to China through the Silk Road. When the Silk
Road opened in the 2nd century BC, missionaries and pilgrims spread Buddhism to
China. Chang Ch ien was recorded to first bring Buddhism to China when he heard
about India and Buddhist beliefs on his way back to China. In about the 1st century
BC, a Buddhist community is said to have been living in China. But the most well
known story of the spreading of Buddhism is when Han emperor, Mingdi, had a
dream about Buddha in 68 CE and sent Cai Yin, his official to learn more about it.
Meanwhile, Mingdi learned from his ministers that he had seen Buddha, the God of
the West in his dream. After 3 years Cai Yin came back to china with Buddhist

Starting in 468 BCE during the Zhou dynasty, the Grand Canal took about 6 million
peasants about a millennium to build. The construction of this canal finally finished
in 610 CE under Emperor Yangdi of the Sui dynasty. Changing China s staple from
millet and wheat to rice was the main reason of the building of the canal, but it also
helped Chinese economy by connecting the more productive southern China to the
capitals in northern china. It increased interdependence between the north and the
south. One section of the Grand Canal was also intended to supply Chinese armies
which led to better defense and administration in China. Also, in building the canal,
officials were required to work together, so the Grand Canal brought better authority
and unity to political officials. The downside of this canal, though, was the number
of peasants killed in constructing it. Over half of the 6 million peasants employed to
build the canal died in building it, which was a reason the Sui dynasty fell. The great
Grand Canal set the foundation for the great Tang dynasty. Empress Wu Zetian, the
only woman to rule China, ruled during the Tang dynasty, but exerted cruel and
malicious methods to gain power. She was born with the name Wu Zhao into a
wealthy family and learned to write, read, and play music. Because of her beauty and
intelligence, Wu became Emperor Tsung s fifth favorite concubine, or

Immigrant Immigrants
Should Immigrants Assimilate or Not?
We all come from different places and ethnicities, and because of having a dream,
people fled away from their home to seek for something to make their life better.
Going to a country like United States, is not only a dream but also, an opportunity
because many people think that America is the best place to settle in, where work,
and education are an easy access. Though this statement is partly true, it is not that
easy. Everyone envied because America is a great nation because it s a country of
opportunity, but a part of it also is a mixture of feelings that are hard to explain
especially if you are immigrant. Every day in your life, you are fighting for
something in order to fit in and survive. However, in the process of fitting in or
blending to a certain place, people, and culture, it requires a lot of personal choices
and a lot of effort as an immigrant. It does not only affect you as a human, but also it
draws a lot of attention, conflicts and tension between the government and
community. Most immigrants have a harder time to adjust or assimilate even
though they speak fluent English and eat American foods. Whenever you see a
person of white complexion, people assumed that blue eyes and blonde hair are the
characteristics of an American, though these are how we perceived American long
time ago, this are still the standards of a few now and doesn t make a big change at
all. The judgement of how a person look physically and how they
