What is Stealth Technology ? Scientifically know as LOW OBSERVABILITY TECHNOLOGY . In simple terms, it allows an aircraft to be partially invisible to radar or any other means of detection. This gives a clear and safe striking distance for the aircraft. 3

History THE IDEA OF STEALTH COMES FROM THE CONCEPT OF CAMOUFLAGE TACTIS USED BY SOLDIERS IN JUNGLES FOR HIDING PURPOSE ONE OF THE EARLIEST AIRCRAFT WAS THE HORTEN HO 229 MADE BY GERMANS LATE IN WORLD WAR II. IT WAS COME UNDER CONSIDERATION WHEN CIA REQUESTED FUNDING FOR STEALTH AIRCRAFTS THE THEORY COMES INTO EXISTENCE FROM THE AIRCRAFT LIKE F-117 NIGHTWALK AND B-2 SPIRIT ADVANCEMENT IN THIS AREA F-22 RAPTOR PAK-FGFA (T-50) J-20 4

RADAR Radio Detection And Ranging. Radar is an object-detection system that uses radio waves to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of objects . Radar was developed for war application, now its applications had diversified . 6

Method Used in Stealth Technology The airplane can be shaped so that any radar signals can be reflected away from the radar equipment. The airplane can be covered in materials that absorbs signals known as ram. Plasma stealth technology. Infrared signature given out of the plane. 7

S hape Of S tealth Aircraft T he most effective way to counteract the ability of radar was to scatter the radar waves from the transmitter to direction where receives would be unlikely to be located. The ideal shapes to return radar would be dihedral or trihedral corners. The first aircraft which fully utilize this research is f-117 8

Conventional Aircraft Most conventional aircraft have a rounded shape. This shape makes them aerodynamic, but it also creates a very efficient radar reflector. The round shape means that no matter where the radar signal hits the plane, some of the signal gets reflected back: 9

Stealth Aircraft A stealth aircraft, on the other hand, is made up of completely flat surfaces and very sharp edges . When a radar signal hits a stealth plane, the signal reflects away at an angle, like this: 10

Plasma stealth In this Plasma stealth the aircraft injects a stream of ionized gas which envelopes the aircraft due to which most of the radar wave are absorbed, this make the aircraft completely invisible. First develop by Russia 11

Radar absorbing material(ram) They are u sed t o a bsorb t he energy of the radar wave, so to prevent the reception of a reflected signal by the antenna. RAM is usually a dielectric material such as carbon or magnetic ferrite. 12

Infrared Signature It is the important factor that influences the stealth capability of an aircraft. Usually planes are visible because of the high temp. Exhaust they give out. The reduction of infrared totally depends on the engine and where the engine is placed in it . The technology behind this is top secret Aircrafts-: B-2, f-22 13

Advantages Stealth aircraft are invisible to radar . Develop the military secretes . Saving military budget . We can perform spy mission . 24

Disadvantages Stealth technology has its own disadvantages like other technologies. Stealth aircraft cannot fly as fast like conventional aircraft. Another serious disadvantage with the stealth aircraft is the reduced amount of payload it can carry. Cost of maintenance High cost -B2 Bomber  2 billion USD -F117-A 70 million USD -F22 100 million USD 25

Conclusion Undoubtedly, stealth technology is the future of military combat and at present is one of the best technology to make things invisible as far as possible. To be incorporated not only in fighters and bombers but also in ships, helicopters, tanks and transport planes. 26
