StevenPaulJobswasanAmericanbusinessmagnate,industrialdesigner,
investor,andmediaproprietor.Hewasthechairman,chiefexecutive
officer(CEO),andco-founderofAppleInc.,thechairmanandmajority
shareholderofPixar,amemberofTheWaltDisneyCompany'sboardof
directorsfollowingitsacquisitionofPixar,andthefounder,chairman,
andCEOofNeXT.Jobsiswidelyrecognizedasapioneerofthepersonal
computerrevolutionofthe1970sand1980s,alongwithAppleco-
founderSteveWozniak.

•SteveJobswasbornonFebruary24,1955inSanFrancisco.Jobswas
adoptedbyPaulandClaraJobsfromherbiologicalmotherJoanneon
theconditionthatlatertheywillsendhimtocollege.PaulandClara
namedtheboyStevenPaul.
•Stevewasaturbulentchild.Hereallydidn'tcareaboutschoolfor
sometimeuntilhereachedthe4

asateacher.Hequicklybecamehookedsomuchthatheskippedthe

5. EDUCATION
JobsenrolledatReedCollegeinPortland,Oregon.Afterjustone
semester,hedroppedoutofCollegewithouttellinghisparents.
Jobslaterexplainedthathedecidedtodropoutbecausehedid
notwanttospendhisparents'moneyonaneducationthatseemed
meaninglesstohim.Hecontinuedtoattendbyauditinghisclasses,
whichincludedacourseoncalligraphy.Laterthiscalligraphy
courseprovedalandmarkindesigningApple’sbeautiful
typography.

•StevedecidedtostarthisowncompanyandfoundedNeXTcomputer
in1989.NeXTturnedaprofitforthefirsttimein1992.NeXTsoftware
neededtobemademorereliableandcompatibleforconsumers.
Companyslowlystartgoingdownhill.
•In1996,NeXTSoftware,Inc.releasedWebObjects,aframeworkfor
Webapplicationdevelopment.AfterNeXTwasacquiredbyAppleInc.
in1997,WebObjectswasusedtobuildandruntheAppleStore,
MobileMeservices,andtheiTunesStore.

12. Pixarwasco-foundedbySteveJobs.Pixar,howeverwasasuccess
story.ThecompanystartedthefirstcomputeranimatedfilmtheToy
StoryandwhenPixar’sstockwentpublic,Jobsbecameinstantly
billionaire.
InJanuary2006,DisneyultimatelyagreedtobuyPixarinanall-
stockdeal.FollowingPixarshareholderapproval,theacquisition
wascompletedin2006andthenthePIXARmergedwithDisney.

rivalMicrosoftin1996postedbillionsofdollarsinlosses.In
December1996JobsconvincedAppletobuyNeXTand
makeit’ssoftwarethefoundationofthenext-generation
MacOS.ThetechnologyhedevelopedatNeXTbecamethe
catalystofApple’scomeback.InitiallyappointedasApple’s
adviser,SteveJobswasnamedApple’sinterimCEOin
