S tructure O f A Media Sector Omar Rasoul

The Structure of the organisation: Walt Disney Company The structure of the Walt Disney company as an organisation is a sort of hierarchical and multidivisional structure as the company has one CEO who overseas the whole operation and underneath him is the other divisions of the Walt Disney company, the main ones being the Attractions, Studio and consumer products section. A Hierarchal structure is an organizational structure where every division and section within the organization except for one, are subordinate to a single other entity.

The structure of the organisation: A24 The structure of A24 as an organisation is a non-hierarchical  structure as the structure of the company is more grounded. As said by the company member Zoe Beyer who runs the social media accounts for A24 “That’s only funny,” Beyer once observed, “because you’re not quite sure who’s saying it. It could be the CEO or an intern.” This is a representation of the non-hierarchical structure of the company as it shows a less rank based and more equal playing field. A Non-hierarchal structure is an organizational structure where the CEO divides the members of the company into teams based on the needs of task at hand. By eliminating layers of managers, the process of decision making is sped up and therefore administrative costs become lower. What this means is that A24 is owned either by non-governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members which do not offer or trade their company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the company's stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately or over-the-counter. In more simple terms this means that they are a company whose shares may not be offered to the public for sale and which operates under legal requirements less strict than those for a public company.

Are they horizontally or vertically integrated?: Walt Disney Company Vertical integration is when Disney has to produce, market, distribute, and create merchandise for their product, a product that Disney produced in their studios, marketed on their Channels and press junkets by them and in this sense Disney could be viewed as a vertically integrated company. But some of Disney’s more recent acquisition seem to mirror a more horizontally integrated model. A vertical integration is the combination in one firm of two or more stages of production normally operated by separate firms.

Are they horizontally or vertically integrated: A24 The company A24 has a more horizontally integrated business model as when it comes to films they need help with the production and when it comes to television programs they need assistance with the distribution of the product and as they need to associate with other companies they are horizontality integrated.
