THEME: FROM OLD TO NEW B E C S E S S I O N Sept. 6, 2024 1 st FRIDAY (2:00-4:00 P.M.) Classroom Setting

Preparation/Grounding: Instrumental music is played to feel God’s presence… Silence

OPENING PRAYER Leader: Let us be aware of God’s Presence deep inside our heart, mind, and spirit . In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. All: AMEN.

We ask the good Lord, to give us a full faith, a firm hope, a fervent charity, a love for Him as we love others and ourselves.

All: We beg the Lord God, a longing to be with Him, that He gives us a pure heart so that we may possess a humble heart that we may serve Him, and a heart of Faith that we may obey and renew ourselves in Him.

Gospel Reading (Luke 5:33-39) A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke.

Some people asked Jesus , ” The disciples of John fast frequently and offer prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees do the same, but your disciples eat and drink”.

Jesus answered,”Do you think you can make the guests at a wedding party go without food as long as the bridegroom is with them? Of course not! But the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and they will fast.

Jesus also told them this parable: You don’t tear a piece of new coat to patch up an old coat. If you do, you will have torn a new coat, and the piece of new cloth will not match the old. Nor do you pour new wine into used wineskins,

because the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will pour out, and the skins will be ruined. Instead, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins! And you don’t want new wine after drinking old wine. The old is better you say.”

Leader: The Gospel of the Lord. Response: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ. REFLECTION: In the Gospel today, Jesus refers to Himself as the bridegroom,

whose presence is reason enough for rejoicing and not fasting. We fast to discipline ourselves, to open our inner eye, to gain strength for loving God and neighbor . By fasting we learn compassion,

our prayers are better, and we remind ourselves that in our lives God has the priority. The Church asks only minimal fasting, but encourages self-denial and especially sharing with our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

But we know Jesus is also present in the Eucharist. He is present in our community gathered in His name, and in our poor neighbors who come to us for help. Therefore, we rejoice in His presence, praising and thanking Him.

Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the bridegroom of the Church wants to transform all things and make them in the new heaven and the new earth; our efforts and sacrifices we joyfully made.

SMALL GROUP SHARING (5 or 6 students in 1 group) Guide Questions: 1.The Gospel today invites you to be mindful always that Jesus welcome us in our old ways of life. Are you ready to let Him be the source of newness in life?

Small Group Sharing 2. Could you be an ambassador of newness in life? 3. Was there any occasion you show compassion and care for others rather than feelings of selfishness and unkind of feelings

to another person? 4.As Ignacian Marian student are there new ways you show to others that, “I am a new person at present”? How?

Intercessions: LEADER: God of tenderness and of everything new. You recreate us in Christ, the Lord and the new beginning of all. With Him, we keep whatever is good of the old in us and live in the new spirit of Christ.

We have implemented the New Evangelization of the Philippines, and celebrated the 500 years of Christianity of the Filipino Church. We respond joyfully in the call of Pope Francis’ mercy and compassion. Affirm us Lord in our

personal and communal desire to begin once again, as we pray. Response: Renew us, O Lord. * We arise with new amazement at Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, our gratitude for new life, our new hope

That all shall be well, our revive courage to meet what will be difficult and challenging. We pray. Response: Renew us, O Lord. *We arise with new conviction to do what is life-giving. Our new eyes ever alert for beauty, our fresh openness to

greater truth, our new desire for continued transformation. We pray. Response: Renew us, O Lord. *We arise with new compassion for the hurting creation; in the environment, our new eagerness to write with depth and quality, our

new sense of relationship with our loved ones, journey companions and friends. We pray. Response: Renew us, O Lord. *We arise with new respect to our mentors, our teachers,

our new determination to make good in spending our time, our new happiness, knowing we are invited to live fully alive. We pray. Response: Renew us, O Lord.

Closing Prayer: Leader: Let us pray- Grant to us Lord God, that we may be bold in authentic change drawn from Jesus’ love. Strengthen our courage to start the reform of the environment and the

World together with the renewal of ourselves and our own small community here in our own advisory class- an Ignacian Marian family ready to challenge the invitation which says,

“Everyday is a new beginning.” We ask this through ou Lord Jesus Christ, and with the Blessed Virgin Mary and Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo. Amen. Leader: Now let us learn a prayerful song,
