What is style?
-Style is the manner of expression of a particular
writer produce by: choice of words, sentence
structures ,use of literary devices,rhythm, and
other elements of compositon.

There are several common types of
writing styles that authors may adopt,
including:
•Formal style
•Informal style
•Descriptive style
•Persuasive style
•Narrative style

Norms:
-Norms are the unwritten rules and social
expectations that guide and constrain the
behavior of individuals within a society or
group. They represent the standard or typical
way of thinking, feeling, and behaving that
members of a group consider acceptable or
appropriate.

There are two main types of
norms:
•Descriptive norms: These are the typical or normal
behaviors that people actually engage in. They describe
what most people do in a given situation.
•Injunctive norms:these are the behaviors that a group
approves or disapproves of.They prescribe what people
ought to do.

-Individual style refers to the unique way a
person expresses themselves through their
appearance, mannerisms, and personal
preferences. It encompasses the choices an
individual makes in areas such as fashion,
grooming, speech, and behavior. Individual style
is a reflection of one's personality, values, and
cultural influences.

FUNCTIONAL STYLE

These styles are shaped by the context, audience,
and purpose of the communication.

-Scientific/Academic Style: Used in scholarly, technical, and research-oriented
writing. Characterized by formal language, precise terminology, and objective
presentation.
-Official/Administrative Style: Used in legal, bureaucratic, and business contexts.
Features formal, impersonal language and standardized formats.
-Journalistic Style: Used in news reporting and media writing. Aims for clarity,
conciseness, and objectivity.
-Colloquial/Conversational Style: Used in everyday, informal speech and writing.
