Antipyrine Antipyrin is an antipyretic agent . Molecular Formula of Antipyrin is – C 11 H 12 N 2 O. It’s most commonly in combination with benzokaine . (1-phenyl-2,3-dimethyl-5-pyrazolne)
Synthesis of Antipyrin : Part -1 : (Aniline) ( Diazonium Salt) ( Phenylhydrazine ) Part – 2 :
Method of Synthesis From part 1 ,The Aniline are react with NaNo2 and HCl at 273-278 K and give Diazonium salt. The Diazonium salt react with SnCl2 and give Phenylhydrazine . From part 2, The EAA react with Phenylhydrazine heat at 110-120 °C,and give 1-phenyl-3methyl-5-pyrazolone. After that, by the Methylation of 1-phenyl-3methyl-5-pyrazolone give the Antipyrin . Uses : It is used in the ear to help relieve the pain , and swealling . And also used in build up of ear wax in the ear.
Promazine Promazine is the phenothiazine derivative. It’s highly sedative H1-Antihistaminic Agent. Molecular Formula of Promazine is C17H20N2S [ N,N-dimethyl-3-(10H-phenothiazine-10-yl)-propan-1-amine ]
Synthesis of Promazine : Synthesis of promazine :
Method of Synthesis : Diphenylamine reacts with sulfur to give phenothiazine . Promazine can be synthesized from phenothiazine by alkylation with 3-dimethylaminopropylchloride in the presence of sodium amide. USES : Treatment of Schizophrenia. Side Effects : Anticholinergic side effects. Extrapyramidal side effects.
