She is chairperson of Infosys Foundation and member of public health care initiatives of Gates Foundation. Sudha Murthy born in Shiggaon in northern Karnataka, India. The daughter of a famous surgeon Dr. R.H. Kulkarni, Murthy and her siblings were raised by her parents and maternal grandparents. These childhood experiences form the historical basis for her first notable work entitled How I Taught my Grandmother to Read & Other Stories . Two institutions of higher learning, the H.R. Kadim Diwan Building housing the Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) department at IIT Kanpur .
Career She completed a B.E. in Electrical Engineering from the B.V.B. college of Engineering 7 Technology, standing 1 st in class and receiving a gold medal from chief minister of Karnataka . Murthy became the first female engineer hired at India's largest auto manufacturer TATA Engineering and Locomotive Company or TELCO. Murthy joined the company as a Development Engineer in Pune and then worked in Mumbai & Jamshedpur as well. Murthy had written a postcard to the company's Chairman complaining of the "men only" gender bias at TELCO. As a result, she was granted a special interview and hired immediately . Now a day she works as Chairperson of Infosys Foundation.
Vision Her vision is to each school has a library and she made 50,000 libraries . The power of vision is the most powerful motivator for change and success that communities, nations and individuals posses, according to Ms Sudha Murthy, Chairperson of Infosys Foundation. She said this means belief in the art of visualizing what is not possible to see.

Awards Best Teacher Award in 1995 Rotatory club in Bangalore. Silver medal from Chief minster of Karnataka for securing highest marks in B.E. of all university of Karnataka. National Award from public Relation Society of India for outstanding social service in India. “Ojaswini” award for excellent social worker in 2000. “Millenum Mahila Shiromani “ Award. Voted as Woman of Year by RadioCity . In 2006, Murthy was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest-ranking civilian award from the Government of India, and received an honorary doctorate for her contributions in the spheres of social work, philanthropy, and education . In 2011, Murthy was conferred honorary LL.D (Doctor of Laws) degrees for their contributions to promote formal legal education and scholarship in India . In 2013, Basava Shree-2013 Award was presented to Narayan Murthy & Sudha Murthy for their contributions to society at Basaveshwara Medical College auditorium .
She worked on several sectors like healthcare, education, empowerment of women, public hygienic, art and culture. Through Infosys Foundation she 2,300 houses in flood affected area. She has handled national natural disasters like tsunami in Tamil Nadu and Andaman, earthquake in Kutch-Gujarat, hurricane and flood in Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. She has worked almost for a decade to change the lives of children in the heart of rural Karnataka by giving them access to food and education. Social Activities:
