About This Presentation

Supima Cotton

Slide Content

SUPIMA COTTON The name Supima combines “superior” +“ pima,” referring to its high-quality standards .

Introduction 01 Advantages of Supima Cotton 02 You can describe the topic of the section here Section 04 Process of Supima Certification 03 Table of contents

Introduction 01

Supima Cotton Discovered in the year 1911 at Sacaton’s experimental farm, Supima cotton is strong yet soft in nature . It came into limelight because of having extra-long staple fibers than other types of cotton . Since then, it kept on developing to achieve another milestone of recognition in the year 1954. That’s when a group of American farmers established Supima organization because of its increasing demand.

Supima Cotton The quality of cotton is determined by the length of the fiber: the longer the fiber, the higher the quality . Pima cotton is a particularly fine extra-long staple cotton that grows in Australia, Israel, Peru and the USA – but it is a generic name with no trademark protections . Supima is the trademark name for the very best American variety of Pima, and represents just 3% of cotton grown in the USA, and less than 1% of the cotton grown in the world.

Supima Cotton To gain the Supima name, the cotton must pass a stringent quality review process . Produced from the Gossypium barbadense cotton plant bulb, Supima has fibers averaging 1.5 inches in length, nearly twice as long as other types of cotton . Supima’s particular qualities of strength, softness and color retention make it a perfect material for clothing that not only looks good but washes and wears well too; a Supima garment keeps its appearance and shape.

Supima and Regular cotton comparison

Supima and Regular cotton comparison

Supima cotton – sustainable, transparent and traceable Supima cotton is strictly regulated to maintain ethical and environmental farming standards, focusing particularly on water efficiency and soil health . Supima cotton fields are laser levelled to make the best use of water, with responsible irrigation systems designed to restore soil moisture, promote soil health, and encourage wildlife. All Supima cotton waste products are fully compostable, to minimize waste . Supima cotton’s journey is closely monitored and can be forensically traced at every stage from fiber and yarn to the finished product.

Supima cotton is only grown in A merica 93% of Supima cotton is grown in California in San Joaquin Valley. 3% is grown in Arizona, 2% in New Mexico and final 2% in Texas.

Supima’s extra-long staple fibers give its yarn characteristics such as more smoother and clean than other types of cotton. Note that with every wash, it gets softer. Additionally, Supima fibers are extremely fine in nature which makes them inherit an exalted softness . Advantages of Supima Cotton EXALTED SOFTNESS:

If typical length of regular cotton is an inch, then Supima cottons’ is 1.5. This makes it possible to manufacture strikingly resilient products. An outcome of processing Supima is a woven fabric that can resist tearing, pulling as well as pilling. Because of this benefit Supima made clothing retains their shape and lasts longer than other cottons. Advantages of Supima Cotton REMARKABLE STRENGTH:

If absorbing dyes was an art, Supima cotton would’ve made up for a legendary artist. Years and years of washes would not have any fading effect. Instead, the bright luster will remain as it is. Advantages of Supima Cotton BALZING COLOR RETENTION:
