Introduction/Background Globally, schools are becoming increasingly concerned about student mental health issues. The shift to a college or university, pressures from the classroom, social obstacles, and individual stresses can all lead to the emergence or aggravation of mental health problems in students. Even said, there is still a low level of help-seeking behavior among this population, with many students reluctant to seek professional treatment because of perceived barriers to access, lack of information, or stigma around mental health issues. With research showing rising rates of anxiety, sadness, and other psychological concerns inside educational settings, mental health issues among students have become a global concern. Acknowledging the significance of taking proactive measures to tackle these problems, some establishments are considering the incorporation of mental health associations to furnish students with assistance and materials.
Thesis and Research Gap Thesis - This study aims to investigate the help-seeking behavior of senior high school students regarding mental health problems and explore the feasibility and potential impact of establishing a mental health organization within the school environment. By employing a mixed-method approach, this research seeks to provide comprehensive insights into the factors influencing help-seeking behaviors, barriers encountered, and the effectiveness of potential interventions, ultimately contributing to the development of tailored support systems for students' mental well-being. Research Gap- This study aims to fill these gaps by conducting a comprehensive examination of help-seeking behaviors among senior high school students and proposing strategies for establishing a tailored mental health organization. Through a mixed-method approach integrating qualitative and quantitative data, the research endeavors to provide nuanced insights and practical recommendations for enhancing mental health support mechanisms within educational settings. By addressing these gaps, the study seeks to contribute to the development of effective interventions that meet the specific needs and circumstances of senior high school students, ultimately promoting their mental well-being.
Research Statements/Questions This study aims to investigate the help-seeking behavior of students experiencing mental health issues in the context of implementing a mental health organization within academic settings. Scope and Delimitation The goal of this study is to obtain a thorough understanding of how students, upon the introduction of a mental health organization into their academic setting, seek assistance for mental health difficulties. This study will consist of 353 participants. The study was distinctly limited to the responses of the senior high school students of Holy Spirit National High School. The participant’s willingness to participate in the study and disclosing their information were the researchers’ need. In order to investigate students' experiences, preferences, and obstacles about obtaining mental health support, both quantitative and qualitative methodologies are used. We'll look into important variables that affect help-seeking behaviors, like stigma, knowledge of available resources, opinion of the efficacy of services, and individual attitudes about mental health. Surveys and interviews with kids enrolled in the school where the mental health organization is being implemented are used to collect data.
Scope and Delimitation The purpose of the study's data analysis is to find patterns, trends, and underlying reasons that influence students' decisions to seek help and assess how well the mental health organization meets their requirements. The study's findings are not as broadly applicable to other educational settings because it is limited to students enrolled in the particular academic institution where the mental health organization is being implemented . Despite efforts to guarantee a varied range of participation, it is possible that the sample does not accurately reflect the perspectives of underrepresented or marginalized student populations. Furthermore, the study mostly examines student perceptions rather than delving further into the opinions of academics, personnel, or mental health specialists engaged in the mental health organization's implementation.
