Key Highlights 4 Crore+ enrollments on SWAYAM, representing all states of India SWAYAM was formally launched in 2017 by Hon’ble President of India In reference to UGC notification, up to 40% Credits can be claimed from Swayam SWAYAM courses are designed by esteemed institutions like IIT, IISc, IIM, NPTEL, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT etc. 3292 unique courses have been developed till date for technical and nontechnical disciplines Presently, SWAYAM credits are recognized by 305 universities across India SWAYAM Board has approved 1345 Courses for upcoming July 2024 semester across multiple discipline/streams Offers Top Notch Courses from Premier Institutes Bridges Nationwide Digital Divide Promotes Accessibility via Multilingual Content

1. New SWAYAM Exam Schedule Prescribed New Exam Schedule in SWAYAM 2024 Guidelines as per Indian University Timelines Issue: SWAYAM Exam Schedule Not Aligned With University Timelines  SWAYAM Schedule January Semester July Semester Course Start Date 1- 31 January 1 – 31 July Course Enrolment End Date 28 February 31 August Course End Date 30 April 31 October Examination Date 2nd and 3rd Saturday & Sunday of May (4 days, 2 slots per day) 2nd and 3rd Saturday & Sunday of November (4 days, 2 slots per day)

2. Increase in Exam centres NTA has doubled the number of exam centers from 105 to 248 cities across India NPTEL has exam centers covering 213 Indian cities . Issue: Insufficient SWAYAM Exam Centres in High Enrollment/Remote Areas

3. Exam at Universities, Re-examination and Additional Attempt Allowed Issues: 1. Re-examination was not Possible for SWAYAM Courses 2. Universities were not able to conduct exams locally Re-examination allowed only in the subsequent 2 semesters for students SWAYAM Board has approved universities to conduct examinations and further re-examinations for their students who couldn't pass SWAYAM exams New SoP for Examination to be conducted by Universities will be released by University Grants Commission This will allow students who did not pass the exam to retake it if university is conducting exam

4. Reduction in Exam Fee Exam fees has been reduced from ₹ 1000/course to ₹ 750/course for General and ₹ 500 for SC/ST/ PwD /OBC Exam fees for additional courses (more than 1 course) reduced to ₹ 600/course SC/ST/ PwD /OBC- NCL: Exam fees for additional courses reduced from ₹500/course to ₹400/course Issue: High Exam Fees for SWAYAM Courses

In the July 2024 semester, 47 new courses have been created by 2 INIs for Swayam 5. Inclusion of India’s Premier Institutes on SWAYAM All INIs and NIRF 100 Institutes in India are eligible to directly offer quality courses on SWAYAM Issue: Course Content on Swayam is not up dated Budgetary provision has been made in the 24 th Swayam Board meeting for content upgradation

6. Additional Budget for Translation and AVGC Separate Budget for Translation (up to ₹ 1.7 Lakhs/language) and AVGC (up to ₹ 6 lakhs/course) Course creators can now build new SWAYAM Courses in Indian Languages 1100 Courses with Speech-to-Text translation in 11 languages and 150 courses with Speech-to-Speech translation Issue: Lack of Multilingual and Interactive Content on SWAYAM

Swayam Prabha Educating through DTH

Swayam Prabha: Key highlights Swayam Prabha was launched by Hon’ble President of India on 9-Jul-2017 Swayam Prabha channels can be accessed for free through DD Free Dish / Dish TV / Jio TV App The contents is prepared by Ministry of Education agencies like CEC/UGC, IITs, IGNOU with IIT Madras being Chief Coordinator. Content available at PG and UG level covering diverse disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Performing Arts, Social Science and Humanities, Engineering, Technology, Law, Agriculture etc. 1.37 lakh+ unique videos of 80,000+ hours have been telecasted on SWAYAM PRABHA since inception More than 12 lakhs subscribers with 6.5 crores+ views for archival has been accounted on Youtube . Most of the content of SWAYAM PRABHA is in courses format telecasted in semester synchronization SWAYAM Prabha is an initiative of Ministry of Education to provide high quality educational content through DTH channels across the length and breadth of the country on 24X7 basis .

Benefits of Swayam Prabha All the content telecasted is free of cost with minimal set up and available through out the day in form of repeat telecast It provides the learners with the flexibility to take courses at the comfort of their homes at the choice of their time. The quality of content and faculty is best in the country with courses from distinguished faculties of eminent institutes of India Swayam Prabha enables learning even in the remotest part of the country with lack of infrastructure and internet, aiming to bridge the digital divide in the country Institutes with dearth of infrastructure can leverage the capability of SWAYAM Prabha to educate their students on desired topics
