Language is a system of communication with deep meaning Language uses symbols for communication Symbols can be words, images, body language, sound, etc. So we can say, language is symbolic Ex- A dollar $1 is a symbol of economic value. The word yes or a nod is a symbol of confirmation. A happy emoji is a symbol of happiness. Symbolic System

Most symbols mean many different things at once. We can use a mix of symbols to better illustrate complex ideas quickly. Each symbol is like a shortcut . Symbols don’t always have inherent meaning. Semantics is the study of meanings. Language is symbolic in that the symbols we use have a deeper “symbolic and symantic meaning beyond their literal meaning. The study of this can be called Semiotics .

Speaking of semantics, “things that stand for actual things “ signs , and we can call “things that stand for metaphysical concepts”, symbols . In simplest form, every letter used to form our formal written and spoken language is a symbol. Words and phrases take different meaning in different contexts . Purposefully use of symbols allows us to communicate complex ideas, with many deep meanings.

It is not just the symbols themselves , but how we use them that is symbolic. There are many terms, in the field of politics, metaphysics, and other symantical arts where emotions and allegiances run highand becomes weighted, this makes communication more hard. Actually language is formal and informal symbolic system of communication. In this age of technology, people have adapted almost instantly to new nouns such as “e-mail” and “Internet,” and verbs such as “downloading,” “texting,” and “blogging.”

Symbols used as a communication tools for language can include the written and spoken words, numbers, equations, pictures, body language, inflections and tones of our voice, other sounds like music, expressions, metaphors, rhythms pitches, clothes we wear, slight gestures, eye movements, etc. if it conveys meaning, it is a symbol. Different symbols have different meanings in different contexts, and studying how those systems work is the root of much of the social sciences, language arts, and the arts in general.
